Hi, I have been taking Amtas-10mg for my hypertension for about a year. Since the time I started taking this tablet, I have noticed that my fasting blood sugar has steadily increased from 105 mg/dl to 165 mg/dl. Until I started taking this tablet, I had never had raised fasting blood sugar. My GP says my raised blood sugar has nothing to do with taking Amtas. I would like to have a second opinion on this matter. Thanks in advance. ## Amtas contains the active ingredient Amlodipine, which is a calcium channel blocker that's commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. I have been taking 5 mg x 2 of Bisoprolol Fumarate for about 10 years. Recently pharmacy substituted Bisoprol Fumarate. For the past few months I have experienced itching like crazy with small bumps. I have heard of this reaction to Toporol, but am wondering if this substitution could be the culprit for me. ## Bisoprol is just another brand name for Bisoprolol, so the active ingredient is the same, however, the inactive ingredients could be different and that may be what is causing your problem. Not many people react to them, which is why they are considered inactive, but even though it is rare, it does happen. Have you consulted your doctor? It sounds like it could be hives, which is an allergic reaction, so it is important that you get too the root of the problem.

so far ny wife is prescribed : TG TOR 20 mg 1 tab/day Deplatt 20 mg 1 tab/day Coversyl Plus 1 tab/day Depin Retard 20 mg 1 tab/day she had a partial block in left Carotid vain. but yesterday, we received: LOPRIN 75 mg for Depin Retard and ZOSTA 10 mg for TG TOR. are they ok? ## Loprin is a low dose aspirin to slow clotting of the blood ## Yes, that is odd. Depin Retard contains the active ingredient Nifedipine, which is an anti-anginal medication and the Lopin is, as Donna said, Aspirin, used as a blood thinner. They are not interchangeable. The TG TOR contains Atorvastatin and the Zosta contains Simvastatin, they are in the same class of medications and are used to lower cholesterol, so switching from one to the other here isn't really a problem. Who made the switch? Was it ordered...

Prescription of zandip 20 mg , physiotens 0.4mg, karvezide 300 mg for high b.p ( 180/80). Recently added verpamil hydrochloride SR 240 mg trial with 0.4 mg physiotens, karvezide and Zanadip 10 mg. is this combo compatible? There is not much improvement. ## Are you also watching your diet? If you're sodium sensitive, then that could cause blood pressure elevation. Do you also get lots of proper exercise? That is also vital to blood pressure control. You really can't just take medications and expect them to do all of the work. What types of foods do you normally eat? Do you have any other medical conditions?

since i started taking this medication i find it very difficult to pass urine...is this normal?? ## Looks like this medication isn't manufactured in the US, but I was able to find the active ingredient to be Bisoprolol. Side effects for this drug are listed below (I believe one or more of these side effects can indirectly make it difficult to urinate): Overdose of Bisoprolol leads to fatigue, hypotension, low blood sugar, bronchospasms and bradycardia. Bronchospasms and low blood sugar because at high doses drug can be an antagonist for 2 adrenergic receptors located in lung and in liver. Bronchspasm due to blockage in lungs of 2 receptor and low blood sugar because of decreased stimulation of glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis in the liver via 2 receptor. I have always used the same phamacy. For about a year the purple and white capsles contained a white pill but now they contain powder. The pharmacey said they had no clue. I can't find anywhere that has dilantin as a powder. Anyone know anything about this? Sorry, but meds and seizures have left me about brain dead. I can't spell anymore. ## I take Phenytoin Sodium capsuls, 100 mg., and I believe they have powder inside. I think the manufacturer is Amneal. They are a substitute for Dilantin; I get them at Walgreens. I just started having seizures last year right before I turned 60. I hate them. I'm afraid to walk around the block because I'm afraid I'll have one and hit my head on the cement. Good luck and God bless. ## Hi, A month ago today I started on Phenyotion 1...

I use concor 5mg & Hexal lisinopril 10mg for hipertention but my hart rate is high 130+ ## What have your blood pressure readings been? Have they done any tests of your cardiac function? While most doctors will tell you that the lower your blood pressure the better, this is a little misleading, because there are points where it can be too low. If this occurs, it will cause your heart rate to accelerate, because your heart has to work harder to compensate for the decreased blood flow. Concor contains the active ingredient Bisoprolol, which is a beta blocker, it is used to treat hypertension and heart conditions. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that is used to treat similar conditions.

Causes dizzyiess when taken in AM. Can it be taken before bed? Can it be cut in half? ## This contains the active ingredient Amlodipine, it is a calcium channel blocker that is used to treat hypertension and other cardiac conditions. As long as it isn't time released, it can be cut in half safely, however, you shouldn't adjust your dosage, without consulting with your doctor. For these medications, most doctors prescribe them once daily, in the morning and the reason they do so it to get you in the habit of taking them, so you don't forget and to allow the medication to work and control your blood pressure and heart rate during your most active times of day. However, there can be some drawbacks to this. One, which you've already discovered is that it can cause dizziness,...
