I am very concerned about internal organ damage. How much water need I drink to flush this drug out of my body quickly? I would appreciate as much information about this as possible. My spouse was prescribed Livalo to lower cholesterol. The cholesterol response was positive. The Total Cholesterol went from an average of 238 to an average of 160. Mission accomplished but ....... My spouse spent the worst 6 months of her life enduring a baffling array of maladies. The various side-effects progressed with time and did not seem to have a relationship with the drug. Kinda' a "creeping blunder" type of response. The first indications of "change" in her quality of life were: -Insomnia -Fatigue -Loss of Zest -Aching Then some new conditions appeared: -Dry, Itching Skin -Dry, Crusty Eyes -Darkening Urine At the fifth month: -Burping -Gas -Pronounced Pain Under Rib Cage on right Side -Reflux type symptoms One Day: -Pain in Stomach Below Rib Cage that was a...

I recently had a UTI and was given Bactrim for three days and felt better. It's been almost a week and I suddenly have the symptoms back long with lower back pain. Seeing that it is almost 7:30 pm on a Sunday, I will have to wait until tomorrow morning to call and go in and see the doctor. The doctor was pleased that I stopped taking Phenazopyridine two days before going in for the urine culture to detect the UTI. Will Phenazopyridine interfere with diagnostics for a kidney infection? I would love to be able to relieve some of my symptoms before morning, but I will not if it means they will not get the proper results for the diagnostics they need. ## The only warning I've found on anything like this has to do with it interfering with urinary diagnostics for diabetics, although y...

i am taking metronidazole tablets 400mg 3 times a day with food and im experiencing a cramp like achy feeling in my lower back, possibly my kidneys? also feel slightly sick and had a pounding headache most of yesterday. do i need to swap antibiotics? thanks for ur help n advice xx ## Are you making sure to take in the proper amount of fluid each day? The reason I'm asking is because those are some of the symptoms of dehydration and that can easily occur with these types of medications since they often cause diarrhea as a side effect. Learn more Metronidazole details here. Unless you're on a fluid restriction, for some reason, then you may want to try drinking a couple of glasses of water and seeing if it eases up any. If not, then you should consult your doctor. I know when I ge...

I was prescribed cipro to treat a uti. I stopped taking it after 3 days due to tendinitis symptoms. Today, 2 days after I stopped taking cipro I noticed that all of my fingernails on both hands are dark pink. Could this be another side effect such as kidney damage? ## Hello, KM! How are you? Some antibiotics can cause a discoloration of the nails, it's usually nothing to worry about and will eventually go away on its own. However, it wouldn't hurt to have it checked out by your doctor, to be safe. Other side effects as listed by the FDA may include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and non-allergic skin rash. Are there any other questions or concerns?

What causes overdose of this medication and the symptoms? Is it detected by blood work? ## According to the National Institute of Health, digoxin toxicity (overdose) symptoms may be caused by a number of different influential factors, including: having high levels of digoxin in your body; a decreased tolerance to digoxin; low magnesium or potassium levels; problems that affect your kidney function (such as dehydration); and interactions with certain medications. You can read more about each of these various risk factors in the link below: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000165.htm As far as detection is concerned, blood tests are reported to be a standard protocol for determining which risk factor(s) might be causing it.
