Is there anyone else taking Keppra and CBD? Do you have any side effects? ## At this time, CBD has not been known to cause any extremely problematic issues when taken with most prescription medications, but it can also vary from person to person, and be dependent on the dosages of the medications, the class of medications, and etc. The FDA does warn, however, that it can increase the risk of experiencing some side effects, such as dizziness, drowsiness, sedation, and difficulty concentrating, as well as the severity of such symptoms. Ref: CBD Information As with anything else, it is always best to check with your doctor, before taking it. My doctor cleared me to take it for nerve pain, but I don't drive, and I work from home, so I wasn't at high risk the first couple times I too...

I am 25 and have been on Keppra for about 2 years. I have not had any seizures since last January but I have developed SEVERE cystic Acne. I had some acne when I was young but this is scaring and distoring my face and neck? This is not listedas a side effect but I didn't have this before and it is the only medication I take. I sa on some blogs that others has similar issues is that true. ## The side effect information that you receive from the pharmacy or find on the monographs on our site are just abbreviated versions, only required to list the first so many prominent side effects, there are usually many more that you will only find if you specifically look for the 'full prescribing information' or 'physicians prescribing information. My husband was put on keppra about two months ago. He slept day and night for about a week and a half. He's awake alot more now but when he's up he's in a bad mood or just indifferent. He's been on seroquel for years to treat bipolar disorder. He was in a bad mood alot before the seroquel and then he was great. Now that he's on keppra he's in a bad mood alot, like its reversing the seroquel positive effects. The Dr said he'd wean him off so I'm hoping for the best. He didn't mention prescribing anything else for seizures so I am worried he will start having them again. Any comments or advice? ## Hello, Sunshine! How are you? Keppra is actually well known to cause such personality changes, I'm surprised the doctor didn't warn him about it. My h...

Does Keppra cause an intense itch? My father was on Keppra for three years, then stopped for almost three months. He went back on it 2 x 500mg and about a month later developed an itch on his arms, back, and chest. ## He may have developed an allergy to it. Our bodies are always changing as time passes, so even if we were able to take something before, we can suddenly develop a reaction to it, if we try it again. Has he consulted his doctor about the problem? He may need to switch to a different medication. Learn more Keppra details here.

Hi. I'm Kelly. I had severe head injury 23 years ago; was in coma for a month and half and had 15% permanent disability. I've always gotten very confused pretty easily but it's gotten much worse. I'm supervisor at drug store and at end of night I am to calculate and record financial information. I took $6,000 back to office and totally forgot to count it. Just left it lying on desk scattered out and I don't remember doing it. Or not doing it. It kills me to think of the morning supervisor walking into office and finding all of that. That prompted me to make an appointment w/Neurologist. I've had these feelings of zoning out; it's weird and can't explain it. So, she put me on Keppra. It is absolutely horrible. I'm taking 1500 mg a day. I've been on...

I need help in dealing with the anxiety and depression that comes with Keppra. I would like to know how others have dealt with it. ## Okay that was simple, let me add some detail. I used to be on lamotrigene (lamictal generic) and I was fine. I was happy. Normal. I'm normally a happy person. Keppra has recently been messing with my memory. So tonight, I took my usual 750 mg dose at the correct time... and then the worst thing happened. I completely forgot I took it. I may or may not have taken it. Either way I took the damn pill and the WORST panic attack ensued about 20 minutes later. I've been on Keppra for about 2 years and it seems like the longer I'm on it; the worse my anxiety gets. I used to NEVER get panic/depression/irritation like this, but just now I've experi...

Hi. I'm 34. I had a brAin stroke due to AVM hemmoraging last year . I got gamma knife surgery done but it takes three years for gamma to work(80percent chance that it will work. If it doesn't then I'll have to get gamma done again ). Anyway I've been on Keppra twice a day ever since (500mg twice a day). Recently I've started noticing that I feel stressed all the time . Like I have to do something very important . I get easily irritated and I can't control my emotions . I feel claustrophobic and overly burdened . The doctor mentioned that often after gamma some chemical is released in the brain that causes such symptoms n it only disappears once it completes it's cycle . He has given me meds for that . Has anyone else experienced something like this ? ## Sam, ...

Two years ago I began having occasional episodes with fainting/passing out. It always happened when I was at rest, or even asleep. After many tests and even sleep studies, it was finally determined that these episodes were actually seizures. I was immediately put on Keppra, and that seemed to control them very effectively. The only problem I am having is the medication makes me feel tired and weak. I have been a runner and cyclist most of my adult life, and I am almost 70 years old, now. I still run and bike, but when I wake up and need to go for a run early, before going to work (still full time), I really don't feel like doing it. If I can make myself go ahead and start very slowly, I almost always feel much better afterwards. Sometimes, though, I feel too bad. I have to admit def...

my son has been on this medication although it has slowed seizures dramaticly his mood and aggression are worse.Angry, argumentetive and depressed. Is this normal? ## I'm on Keppra since last year and I feel the same . Irritated , annoyed n stressed out all the time . ## There is a warning in the Keppra (Levetiracetam) patient information that warns about the possibility of personality changes, and if they occur, it advises you to consult the relevant physician immediately, as the patient will need to switch to a different medication. My husband experienced the same issue, he was just angry, and rage filled, all the time, so his doctor took him off of it right away, and he's been doing great on the new medication they prescribed. Can you tell me the side effects other than what they have on the website? Also, that Neurosurgeon is supposed to give her an Optical Block shot. I have just been put on keppra 1000mg twice daily. I took my first dose yesterday and felt very confused, unsteady on my feet. Is that normal? Should I take a lower dose when starting off, perhaps 500mg and work my way up to the higher dose or Gould I just wait it out and hope that the symptoms reduce? ## Hello, Jen! How are you doing? Keppra contains the active ingredient Levetircetam, which is an anticonvulsant. Yes, those types of side effects are common from taking it and they should start to taper off in a few weeks, once your body starts to get used to the medication. what are known and possible side effects if this medication ## i've been taking keppra for about 9 years now and I've noticed that it does make me sleepy. It's not really bad where I can't function or work. It's really easy for me to fall asleep at night. Aside from that I haven't noticed anything else. I have been taking Keppra for a few years. Within the first year I had a sleepwalking experience where I literally woke up not where I went to bed on my feet. I have been told I have been sleepwalking a few times now and I'm going to see my neurologist tomorrow. Has anybody else had issues like this? I have been prescribed different medications over the years for what I would call a mild seizure disorder (few and far between) I have never had a reaction like this. ## Hello, Bob! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you've had. These anticonvulsant medications can really cause some odd side effects, since they work on brain chemicals. You may also experience mood swings, weight gain, dizziness and headache. What did you find out from your neurologist? You may need to try ...

I had one grand mal seizure last year, I was put on 1500 mg of Keppra right away. I had a tumor removed. Problem gone. Neurologist said I have to stay on the Keppra. I hate Keppra. Basically makes any mood I have to tenth degree. Angry is sooo angry and sad is soooo sad and even happy is soooo happy. I can't stand it. I am going to wean off it but I want to know which way would be best. I take 2 at pm and two in the am. should I go 1 at am and 2 at pm or 1-1/2 at each? ## Hello, Cheryl! How are you? If they had to do surgery to remove a tumor, then there is good reason they want you to stay on this, the trauma from the surgery can also create the risk of seizures. However, the good news is that you don't have to stay on Keppra, if it's causing you such problems. There are ot...

Can anyone tell me how to get off of Keppra? I am only on 250mg 2x daily and I want off. ## Your best bet is to talk to your doctor so you can stop under medical supervision. ## I agree, I stopped cold turkey after only two days and thought my topamax would be enough I paid the price and was lucky to be alive.... ## I started off at 500 mg 2 times a day, then down to 500 mg a day, and now down to 250 mg..I seem to have some panic atacks. My heart beats fast, i get nauseaus and I have to lie down. Is this a side effect of tapering down? ## I don't believe the slow reduction in Keppra is a problem but the topomax is. I have used a number of antiseizure drugs in my years. I am presently on Keppra and have it down to 750 mg a day which works for me. just for the record many people on hi...
