My doctor was forced into retirement, have been on pain meds several years, now his partner won't prescribe any for me, I was referred to pain clinic and they won't see me until the end of October, this is August. I am afraid I will lose my job. I have had 3 spine operations, help I am in the Danville my area.

I have been taking Xanax and Zoloft for ten years. I am mentally ill and on disability. I tried all different kinds of medication for bad anxiety and bad panic attacks, PTSD. But, only Xanax and Zoloft helps me. I also need lyrics, for damaged nerves and spine and my joints. I live in Corbin KY. I can't find a doctor who will except me! Please help! I am not well! I need to be stabilized on my mental illness medication that the only helping. I have been taking that because other medication didn't work. ## I'm not sure how long it has been since you've last taken your medication but you should probably start by going to the Emergency Room. You can't just stop taking these drugs, especially xanax, cold turkey. It can be extremely dangerous. As far as finding a Doctor i...

Is there any chronic pain patients from Kentucky or Ohio that are finding themselves with no treatment and no where to turn for help? I am an advocate for pain patients and patients have contacted me saying how they had just moved to one state or the other and called many doctor offices to only be rejected because they are chronic pain patients already. The doctors offices say they are not accepting new patients or that the office does not treat pain. Can you imagine someone with cancer that has called 258 Dr offices and have been turned away because they take opiate medicine for pain? I was just wondering about how many patients were living in these states with no care or are left to with draw in severe pain with no dignity? Please share your experiences if you can. I feel there can be...

i worked 23 yrs in the coal mines and my back is broken in 3 places and it hurts like hell could you possible help me with my pain i am in a pain clinic right now but its a 2 and a half drive and it kills my back time i get there if i could find a closer pain clinic i am getting perocet 10 right now it helps a little but not enough thank you very very much ## Hello, Willis! How are you? There is no such thing, anymore, as a walk-in pain clinic. If you require long-term ongoing pain management, you'll need to see a pain management specialist, will require setting up an appointment and establishing a relationship with the doctor, just like what you are currently doing. Do you currently have a PCP that might be able to refer you to one that's closer? If so, that might be the quicke...

On July 24th I literally had a freak accident and fell 3 feet breaking 3 vetebra in my back and doing extensive tissue, muscle and nerve damage. I'm seeing a Neuro Surgeon UK but he is unwilling to perscribe me anything above a Loritab 10 now, but when I was in the hospital I was being given 2 - Perc 30's and 1 - Valium to keep the pain away which was working completely awesome. I am in need of a pain clinic or Doctor here in Kentucky, I don't mind driving, to get the help that I need. PLEASE someone help me find a doctor that will help be out of this misery as this is the FIRST EVER bones I have ever broken. THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP!! ## Hello, Sorry to hear about your accident BearAngelEyes. I may not have a doctor I can refer you to, but I can provide you...

prescribing doctors in Louisville ky area I have 3 herniated discs fibro myalgia spondylitis I need something stronger than vicodin Please help. Tired of hurting and crying ## Help, Renee! How are you? I'm sorry, but there is no listing of doctors according to whether they will or will not prescribe any given medication that I can refer to for you. If you need a narcotic medication on a long-term ongoing basis then due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly? If so, getting them to refer you to someone might be the easiest thing to do.

I lived in Alabama and was recieveing oxy -40 3 times a day , built home in ky , now and cannot get them , I have chronic pain and my quality of life has taken a big hit, can no longer do a lot , but the doctor will not give them , because of all the pill poppers , I am 60 . this is wrong !!!!!!! they worked great , a good slow release medicine ## Hello, Jim! How are you doing? Sorry that you're so miserable. The first issue is that unless you have a severely debilitating condition, such as cancer, which can cause intractable pain, then no doctor would be able to prescribe you 3 of them per day, now. The new regulations have placed a kibosh on such practices and limited the prescribing practices for treating pain to only the maximum recommended daily dose. So, if you were taking the...

Does anyone know a pain clinic that perscribes oxycodone and doesn't judge you? ## Hello, Superm! How are you? Due to the new regulations, all doctors must proceed with extreme caution when prescribing controlled substances, or they risk losing their license to practice medication. Oxycodone is a very potent narcotic analgesic that can be habit forming and is very frequently abused, so you really just have to be prepared to jump through the hoops, if you want a doctor to prescribe it for you. Learn more Oxycodone details here. Do you have a PCP that could refer you to someone? ## If you find one please let me know! ## Looking for pain management clinics or doctors in Kentucky that will accept patients who have been on suboxone for the past two years.

I need to know if medicaid will pay for my methadone treatment in ky? ## It won't where I live. Medicaid hasn't been expanded here but even if you could get it the insurance won't cover mmt., only detox. ## @Margie, With seemingly ever-changing laws surrounding the dispensing and coverage of controlled substances, I think your best bet would probably be to contact a methadone clinic directly for more specific details on their protocol. It may be that you'd have to contact a number of different clinics and compare feedback. I'd also encourage you to look into Kentucky's medicaid Drug Formulary (or Preferred Drug List) to for up to date information on what their medicaid covers; as coverage seems to vary from state to state. ## I live in Harrodsburg ky.. I am a 34 year old female that has osteoporosis / bone disc degeneration disease, also hereditary problems. I am in pain constantly and need to find a doctor that will help me. ## Did you find a doctor? Please let me know as I'm in a similar position. I've got 3 bulging discs, a pinched nerve and a few other things going on with my back and neck. I've tried everything from physical therapy to injections and no real relief. My doctor refused to give me any more of the pain meds he'd had me on unless I agreed to back surgery and at this time I don't want to do that and I feel he was only after insurance money. But anyway I've suffered ever since. So I thought someone out here could help me find doctor. Any info you may have would be greatly appreciated. ## Did you ...

I need to find a dr. that will write methadone (that is not a clinic) in or around kentucky ## Hi melissa, Is there any specific city or zip code that you're looking in? I went about searching, but would inevitably need to acquire more details to narrow down the results I'm coming across. Just to help though, below is a methadone doctor based in Richmond, KY: Robertson D. Ward, M.D. Project R.E.A.C.H. 210 St. George Street, Suite 206 Richmond, KY 40475 (859)779-4440 I hope this helps! LOOKING FOR A DOCTOR WHO WILL PRESCRIBE PAIN MEDICINE FOR CHRONIC PAIN OR SUBUTEX FOR CHRONIC PAIN AND TAKES EITHER MEDICARE, PASSPORT, OR MEDICAID IN LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY OR CLOSE TO THERE ## Hello, Nanarobin! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Unfortunately, there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe and what insurances they accept, that I can refer to for you. If you require controlled substances for the long-term ongoing treatment of chronic pain, you'll need to see a pain management specialist, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, by the DEA. A general practitioner won't be able to help you. The FDA lists Subutex as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and m...

I need a pain specialist in Maysville, Kentucky or Portsmouth, Ohio who isn't afraid to lose their license. Please list their name/phone/location! ## Hello, Sam! How are you? Such a doctor doesn't exist. If you'd spent many years of your life and a very large sum of money to go to school and get into your dream career, wouldn't you want to keep your license to practice? Additionally, on top of losing their license, they also face fines and jail time. If you require treatment for pain, you'll have to see a specialist and follow proper procedure. Do you currently have a PCP that might be able to refer you to someone? Does anyone know of a good doctor in that area?

With the new Kasper law that went in to effect 7-20-2012 in Kentucky requiring that my doctor run a Kasper report before prescribing any pain meds - am I required to get the script filled in Kentucyk since Kasper does not cross state lines ? ## The main problem you are going to run into, regardless of this particular law, is that virtually no pharmacy is filling out of area prescriptions anymore. This has been a very recent change that is causing problems for people all over the country. In most cases to get them filled, you need to to live within a certain radius of the pharmacy you are using. There are very few exceptions. Learn more pain management details here. Why can't you get it filled locally? ## Ok I currently get my medication once a month. I am only prescribed 2 a day (I ...

I need. A caring doctor close to eastern kentucky willing to write what I've been getting. In too much pain to physically and mentally handle. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! ## Hello, Tina! How are you feeling? I am very sorry that you're in so much pain. Do you have an oncologist that you're seeing regularly? If so, they should be willing to prescribe you a medication to handle your pain. For people with a condition, such as yours, that carries the risk of being fatal, they are not restricted in what they can prescribe and how much, as they are for those suffering pain from other causes. Alternatively, do you have a PCP that could refer you to someone? Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area? The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potent...

I had a total knee replacement in 2005 and 11 total surgeries to my lower left leg. I have been to Ohio, Michigan, New York and Texas! My doctor gave me morphine 6-8 tablets per day for 3 or 4 years and it worked. He is retired now. Several of your readers are correct! If you look around for another doctor or ask for a specific drug you are a junkie, drug addicted doctor shopper. That sucks! Why is that? Where can I go in Northern Kentucky? I am not a junkie and I am not "doctor shopping" I just want pain relief! That's all! Why is that so tuff? I am 56 years old and a hard working person, not a freak!! ## Hello, Baron! How are you? I have a Kentucky Licenses and went to a pain clinic in GA, they prescribed me Oxycodone 15mg and Hydrocodone 10mg. I have been to several pharmacies in Kentucky and cannot get them filled. Does anyone know where I can get my prescriptions filled rather here in Kentucky or out of state in GA or TN?? Please Help at all if possible, thanks! ## Hi Tommy, If you can't get your prescriptions filled locally, have you considered opting for an online pharmacy that can ship you your meds? I personally haven't used this method for getting a prescription, but I know there are a handful of sites out there that are safe and legal to order from amongst the swarm of bad ones: Legitimate online pharmacies that carry the VIPPS seal are listed at: nabp.net/programs/accreditation/vipps/find-a-vipp...
