Hello, I took this for ten days four X per day for infected tooth. How long AFTER I get off it will the keflex still help? I am going to be doing a second round while I wait for oral surgery, but how long in between rounds should I be okay? Thanks MUCH. It's urgent. ## Unfortunately, there's no time frame that can be quoted to answer your question, since we are all different, and it may also be affect by other factors, such as your overall health, the type of infection you have, how severe the infection is, and etc. The best thing to do would be to try and minimize the dosing gap, as much as possible. It is an antibiotic, not a controlled substance, so to speak, so you should be able to pick up a refill right away. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Keflex as possibly inc...

I have a abcess tooth wanted to know if keflex 500 mg will take the infection out. ## Hi Jackie, From what I could gather, Keflex (cephalexin) can in fact be used to treat a tooth infection. Apparently the usual adult dose for bacterial infections is listed as being anywhere from 250 to 500mgs every 6 hours; to be taken for up to 1-3 weeks, depending on the severity of the infection. However, these exact figures are generally something your doctor/dentist would determine upon a closer examination. I have a abcess tooth which one is best cipro septra or keflex? ## Hi Brenda, From what I could gather, Ciprofloxacin is not commonly prescribed for dental infections. So it's probably not the best choice as a first line treatment option.. Septra and Keflex on the other hand, are more commonly prescribed by dentists for tooth and other mouth related infections, due to their broader spectrum. You may want to talk with your doctor about either one of those last two options to see what works best. Sometimes the right decision has to come from trial and error, depending on how your body reacts to each medication. Have you taken either of these medications in the past?

If I do and run out, will my dentist give me more, and will it be effective? ## i would like to know if keflex can be taken by a person who is alergic to sulfa drugs ## Keflex is an antibiotic so it will fight an infection if there is one BUT if not then your tooth ache will not subside. If you have a refill on it then yes you can get more otherwise your doctor/dentist may want to just evaluate your situation and then he can decide whether or not you need something more then just a quick fix ## I would like to know if Keflex will help with a toothache, they are 500mg, how should i take them? ## 1. Can you help my name is pat i have a reallyinfected sisdom. Tooth an all i got rite now are keflex m bactrim will that kill the infection ## Hello, Patrick! How are you? They may help, since they are broad spectrum antibiotics, but it would be best to see your dentist and have them suggest the best antibiotic to take. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, an antibiotic will not help with whatever issue has caused the infection, such as a cavity, impacted tooth, or etc. So, you will still need to see your dentist to have the problem corrected. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have a bad abses tooth is keflex a good antibioti to take for it ## Although Keflex (Cephalexin) is commonly prescribed for tooth abscess, some patients believe that Clindamycin is a better option for these types of infections. In my opinion, it's best to stick to more natural options, such as Clove Essential Oil, to avoid many of the undesirable side effects that are associated with prescription drugs in general. However, it probably just comes down to whatever your doctor recommended for you and whether or not your body reacts favorably to it. I hope this helps!

I was prescribed keflex 500mg 4 times a day for a week for a tooth infection but it makes me tired and feel funny can i reduce the dosages to 2 a day ## Hello, Nene! How are you? I'm very sorry about how you're feeling. However, all medications carry the risk of causing side effects. As listed by the FDA, along with drowsiness, you may experience dizziness, nausea, headache, diarrhea and non-allergic skin rash. You should take it as prescribed by your doctor, because while these side effects may be annoying for now, there is a risk of death due to the infection, if it's left to continue out of control. Alternatively, by lowering your dose, you create the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. If you really don't like taking this one, the best thing to do ...
