I do not drink often but with the holidays coming up I would like to be able to drink with my family and friends.... If I do not take it for 3 days prior is it ok for me to drink in moderation?

hello i have chronic back pain ive been on a bunch of pills and nothing seems to be working as of now im taking 4 percocets a day and this new thing called kadian 100 mg sustained release just asking what it compares to cuz i was just on hydro morph cotin 24 ml twice a day with 4 percocets just asking if this 100 mg kadian is just like a hydro cotin if it is like a hydro cotin what mg would my kadian 100 mg compare ## This is an old post, but kadian 100 is morphine - sustained release for 12 hrs- and is a very high dose. Hydromorphone is a stronger drug. You must have tolerance to high opioid doses to take Kadian 100 (or overdose is likely). I took it for years, but have gradually tapered down to 30 mg twice daily. It took about 2 yrs to taper that much.

Is Kadian er the same as Kadian cr? my insurance stopped the er but said I could switch to the cr. I was just wondering what the differance was. Thank you ## Yes, they are the same, they both designate it as being a time released formulation, they are just different ways of saying it, the ER stands for extended release and the CR for controlled release. Is there anything else I can help with?

I went to a new Pharmacy today to get my monthly Kadian 50mg filled. They said they had the generic and would I like that (Morphine SULFATE ER 50mg). I said sure, but when I looked at the pills, they were exactly the same color, shape, and markings as the name brand Kadian. Does anybody know what the new generic is actually suppose to look like? Why would a drug company make a generic to look exactly like the name brand? How would the Pharmacists tell them apart? ## What are the markings on the tablets? For my chronic pain, kadian lyrica and diazapham, work great. I function and I am slowly getting my life and happiness back. My work comp insurance company has determined I no longer need any of my Meds. I have been taking Kafian 30 and Kadian 10 for over 8 years. At the same time they are weaning me off Trazadone 200, Sertralene 200, oxy for breakthrough and my lido seem patches. What is the safest way to do this? I still need my pain mess. Do the kadian 40 mg capsules contain iodine in them? ## Not according to current listed reports. Are you allergic to it, or deficient in it? My husbands doctor says there is not a generic for Kadian. You say you are taking the generic Kadian...what is the name of it?? ## MS CONTIN ## If your dr. writes for Kadian and accepts a generic form on the script the pharmacy can get it from Alpharma. My husband has been on Kadian 80 mg for over a year. Now all of a sudden the Pharmacy's are saying that they don't carry it and ordering will take two weeks.....does anyone know why Pahrmacys give you such a hard time. My PM Dr just added Kadian 20mg 1x daily to my current meds. I suffer with insomnia already & don't want to make it worse by taking this at the wrong time of day nor do I want to be drowsy all day. Can anyone share their experience with this medicine & what time of day to take it for best results & least side effects? As a patient with decades of spinal OA, I have a drawer of old narcotics that didn't seem to work well at the time: less effectice, too strong... In fact what I have discovered, in an attempt to keep my doses low, rotating them works best for me. The question I have is how old is too old, and what is the result of expired time release narcotics. Do they simply become less effective? Dangerous? Does the time-release componant degrade in a way that makes taking it completely inadvisable. Live in Jacksonville Florida. I have been to 15 different pharmacies and can not get refill on Kadian 60 mg (morphine sulfate) CVS, WALGRREEN'S, PUBLIX'S and WINN DIXIE'S no one has them. Been taking 10+ years regular pharmacy out of stock, resupply unknown. Have to drive to each location and show scripe to see if available. Will not discuss availanility over phone due to Fla Opiate laws. This new generic form made me itch from top to bottom all day all night i........is this a heard of side effect from the new generic Med. ## Hello, Auntsansan! How are you? Have you had the itching checked out by your doctor? What are the markings on the ones you're taking? That is what would enable me to check the specific ingredients for you. Does anyone know the difference between Kadian 30 mg to Watson 3450. My Kadian was just changed to the Watson pill and I am now in withdrawal. What is the difference? ## Kadian is the Brand name for Morphine Sulfate Extented Release capsules, it is made by Actavis. Watson 3450 is a purple/white capsule and contains 30 mgs Morphine Sulfate Extented Release. The amount of medication in a Brand and a generic may vary. The Brands have exact medication whereas generics may vary. For example, if you have a generic that says 10 mgs, there can be 8 mgs-12 mgs of medication in it.

I am on 50 mg of Kadian and I am wondering if MS Contin is the same thing. ## yes Kadian is the same drug as MS Contin...it is just a different name given by a different manufacturer...they both are brand names for the generic morphine sulfate. ## Kadian is morphine sulfate, but whereas it is timed to release over 24 hours, MS Contin releases over 12.
