is Tramadol contains any opiates ? ## Tramadol is narcotic! Some have different views on it but it is 100% narcotic with opiate traits. This medicine should be used with lots of caution, the doctors make it out like its non-addictive, but it is truly addictive as any other narcotic. But there are some good things that come from tramadol, and just as this year they are now finding it naturally produced in relatively high concentrations in the roots of the African Pin Cushion Tree. Just know it can be abuse very easy! Thanks ## Hello, Hokaz! How are you? Justin is correct, thank you Justin! Tramadol is classified as an opioid analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming. When creating it, researchers tried to take an opiate and remove the addictive potential to prevent abuse, bu...

Is cymbalta the same as tramadol? ## Hello, Pamela! How are you? No, they are not the same, at all. Cymbalta contains the active ingredient Duloxetine, the FDA classifies it as an SSNRI antidepressant, though it does help some people with anxiety and nerve pain. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. However, Tramadol is an analgesic. The FDA classifies it as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. My husband was prescribed oxycodone and morphine sulfate for daily use after an accident that resulted in incomplete quadriplegia. Over the course of four months, the EMT's were here six times to address opiate overdose. After more strenuous physical therapy sessions, he would become completely gray in pallor and we could not wake him up. Twice he stopped breathing prior to help arriving. I administered CPR until their arrival, at which time they would inj. narcan, and boom! He's back. The first episode resulted in my totally monitoring his medication, documenting dose/times in a prescription diary and posting current status of his medications on a white board. He was not even taking two-thirds of what he was prescribed, because it was too strong, and we had yet to adjust his do...

I had been taking 150mg of tramadol and had only two 50mg of tramadol left so I took it with only 10mg of oxycodone. I need to know is it safe to take 100mg of tramadol with one 10mg of oxycodone? ## They are both classified as opiates, so you may experience more side effects than normal, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, dry mouth, and constipation. However, there could also be a risk of overdose, if you are not opiate tolerant. In the future, it would be best not to combine them, unless your doctor instructs you to do so. Did you experience any adverse effects?

Tramadol is not a narcotic but a very powerful pain medication without being a narcotic ## You are correct, it is not a narcotic nor a controlled substance; however, I have not found it to be a powerful pain killer. It has been abused a lot and is addictive but it did nothing for my pain, and is only recommended for mild to moderate pain. ## Does Ultram have the same effects as Percoset or Vicodin? ## I think I can add some valuable information to this post to better explain this issue… Tramadol was at one point classified as a narcotic opiate, but when it was found to not be as effective at treating pain, it was reclassified as a centrally acting analgesic. The way Tramadol came into being is because an attempt was made to take all the beneficial effects of an opiate ...

I took a tramadol around 1 pm today. I now need another pain reliever, was wondering how long should I wait to take Tylenol with codiene? ## Hello, Jen! How are you? It is best to be cautious, because Tramadol can sometimes initiate withdrawals in people that are opiate dependent, if you try to mix them. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What dosage is the Tramadol that you're taking? Each 50mg dose of Tramadol is equivalent to 33.33mgs of Codeine, so your Tramadol might actually be stronger.

I am getting knee replacement and I don't want morphine because I throw up and bad headache and hallucinate. Vicodin does the same. Is there something I can take that won't harm me? I have high blood pressure, IBS, panic attacks, and depression. I take meds for these. I can't take tramadol because it interacts with Xanax. I am very scared. When I got my galbladder out they kept giving me morphine. I was so sick from it. The pain was still there. Let me know if there is something better than opiates. ## Hello, Robin! How are you? No, opiates are the best pain relievers, but there are others available that you could try, such as Dilaudid or Oxycodone. The FDA warns that they may be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and c...

What is the difference between Lortab 7.5 and Tramadol 50mg? I have severe pain from severe enamel loss on my teeth due to Gastroesophigal Reflux Disease and have been prescribed pain meds until i can have my teeth extracted. I have been prescribed both of these (not at the same time) and found the Lortab 7.5 to work better to control the pain. I also feel very dizzy while taking the Tramadol and doesn't seem to relieve the pain as much. Any thoughts, suggestions or info? ## The Tramadol is derived from an opiate, but doesn't have the same pain relieving effects, so the Lortab is stronger, because it actually has the narcotic Hydrocodone in it. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsin...

My doctor gave me tramador and effexor together. I have read that this is not a good thing. Any help or info???Thank you. ## Hello, Nana! How are you? They can both increase serotonin levels, which could cause serotonin syndrome. However, the doesn't mean they can't be taken together, if your doctor has prescribed them both, it just means that they have to carefully calculate the dosage and they should be monitoring you regularly. The FDA classifies Tramadol as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The side effects for Effexor may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I took Tramadol when I had my knee replaced. It made my hair fall out so bad that I had to wear a wig for a while. I've been taking oxycodone-acetaminophen and it's starting to fall out again! Are they made from the same ingredients? ## Hello, Karen! How are you? No, but the are both classified as opiate analgesics. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Are you on any other medications?

Which medication is stronger Tramadol or Lortab? ## Lortab, it is actually a narcotic pain reliever containing Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone. Tramadol is a generic for Ultram and it is a non-narcotic, it does work well for some people, but not great for severe pain suffers. The opiate drugs are definitely stronger. ## Lortab is better Ultram is not good for nothing actually but give it a try may help but If your in reall pain get Lortabs

Multiple knee surgeries; bone spur on L heel secondary to limping on right leg for years; spondylolysthesis in back. Prescribed 1-2 Percocet(s) per night (5-325) to help sleep and Tramadol (50mgs, up to 4Xday). If my first 2 Trams haven't touched my pain (fell 2 days ago), would taking the remaining 2, plus the Percocets, have any kind of additive analgesic effect? Or would the stronger Perc render the Tram unnoticeable? Should mention I'm a pill horse: since childhood, I've had to take higher doses to get effects, w/ any drugs. I'm 5'11" and 185. ## Hello, Tristan! How are you? No, you shouldn't take more than prescribed, per dose, or you may overdose. Both of these medications are considered opiate analgesics, so taking more at once could place you at risk....

2 Tylex and 1 50mg tramadol for severe rib pain. Is it ok? ## They shouldn't be taken together, unless your doctor has specifically instructed you to do so, because contain opiates, so doubling up might result in overdose, which can be fatal. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. TRAMADOL=DECEPTIVE POISON. this drug is one of the nastier little secrets of the painkiller industry. from my experience it is highly addictive with all the standard withdrawal symptoms plus severe interference with the logical thought processes, more so than other opiates. and to think that this drug is advertised as a safer alternative to other painkillers. I work with numbers as part of my job and I was unable to function once i ran out of my supply early. put myself into a long term suboxone rehab program. am almost ready to "graduate" from the program. My family doctor has me on tramadol 150 mg. I do take more 300 mg a day. She wants to stop the med because she thought it was short term, and did not know it was addictive. If I talk to her about suboxone.. can she prescribe that med? Or does it have to be a cash only psych Dr? ## Hello, Mj! How are you? Suboxone also contains an opiate and carries just as much of a risk of being habit forming. It combines Buprenorphine with Naloxone. As listed by the FDA, it can also cause similar side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Any doctor can prescribe it, the restrictions only apply to it being used for addiction treatment. However, as I said, it is another opiate. Have you considered seeing a pain management specialist? ## Can a family doctor prescrib...

I just started taking brintellix and info. guide says not to take tramadol with. What can I take to replace the tramadol? ## Hello, Jackie! How are you? Virtually any of the other opiates are fine, as long as your doctor approves. Most do not cause the same interaction. The FDA list narcotics as having the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Brintellix may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, weight changes and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
