is Tramadol contains any opiates ? ## Tramadol is narcotic! Some have different views on it but it is 100% narcotic with opiate traits. This medicine should be used with lots of caution, the doctors make it out like its non-addictive, but it is truly addictive as any other narcotic. But there are some good things that come from tramadol, and just as this year they are now finding it naturally produced in relatively high concentrations in the roots of the African Pin Cushion Tree. Just know it can be abuse very easy! Thanks ## Hello, Hokaz! How are you? Justin is correct, thank you Justin! Tramadol is classified as an opioid analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming. When creating it, researchers tried to take an opiate and remove the addictive potential to prevent abuse, bu...

I can not take any NSAIDs due to being a gastric bypass patient and there is too much of a risk of a bleed with these drugs.. I am already on hydrocodone so I can not take any other narcotic analgesics. Is there any other non narcotic chronic pain reliever out there to supplement the hydrocodone. Can't take tramadol now because NYS classified this as a narcotic. My doctor is going crazy trying to find something for me and has had no luck so far. ## Why can't you take another narcotic? They are very commonly combined to give someone better pain relief. People with severe pain are often given a long acting narcotic along with a regular or instant release one for breakthrough pain. But if your doctor doesn't want to combine them, you could switch to a different one that's s...

I have long term chronic pain from muscular dystrophy and need an excellent non narcotic drug to replace my vicopro, any suggestions please? ## It's going to be difficult to find one that's non-narcotic and works as well as one. Have you tried Tramadol? You can learn more about it here: Has your doctor suggested anything? ## Thank you so much for the recommendation. Tramadol works OK, not great. We tried it without the vicopro for over year in combination with Aleve and nothing works like the vicopro for me. It's the difference between getting out of bed and taking a shower, etc., or just unable to move at all. I am only taking one vicopro each day and then one or two Tramadols as needed. I am hoping for a non-narcotic that works as well. ## My next suggestion to talk to you...

Which medication is stronger Tramadol or Lortab? ## Lortab, it is actually a narcotic pain reliever containing Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone. Tramadol is a generic for Ultram and it is a non-narcotic, it does work well for some people, but not great for severe pain suffers. The opiate drugs are definitely stronger. ## Lortab is better Ultram is not good for nothing actually but give it a try may help but If your in reall pain get Lortabs

Is Tramadol APAP generic for Ultracet? ## Tramadl/Apap vs. Tramadol is same medicine under different name ? A strong painkiller for back + arthri- tis pain as prescribed ? 9/8/05 ## First off, no, there is Tramadol with Apap, which is the generic for Ultracet, and then there is Tramadol by itself without the Acetaminophen, so no, they are not the same med. This is a very mild, non-narcotic pain killer. ## Can anyone tell me if vykadin is a better pain killer than Tramadol which I take but it does not relieve the pain in my back which is degerating and has stenosis and arthritis right uop the spine. I am due to have surgery for a second time to try to relieve this pain but the first time was useless. I am in constant pain. ## there is a such thing as tramaal with APAP I'm taking it r...

Is Tramadol a controlled substance, or is there any type of narcotic in them? I would really appreciate any reply. I would like to know ASAP if possible. It has been subscribed to my 16 year old son and I would like to know about the drug as soon as I can. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much! Hope to hear from someone real soon. Thanks again! ## I was recently given Tramadol and was surprised by all the labels on the bottle for a non-narcotic medication. Supposedly it is NOT a narcotic medication. I asked my friend if she's ever heard of it and she said she gave it to her 12 year old daughter for a full year with no side effects. ## I was browsing this web site for info on another drug out of my usual practice domain and ran across your question. Since I use thi...

Iv had three wisdom reeth extracted two days ago and the pain is getting worse.. Iv been prescribed tablets that don't dont seem to help very much at all.... Is it ok to take two melfen at once as I was told that was te strongest of what I was given. I was also given solpadol tablets too... Can they be mixed? ## Hello, Sazcoyne! How are you? No, the Melfen just contains Ibuprofen, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. However, the Solpadol contains Paracetamol and Codeine, the Codeine is actually a narcotic analgesic, which would likely help a bit more. And no, please don't double up on anything with your dentist's approval. Are there any other questions or concerns?

So I just got tramadol and it says that it has hydrochloride in it. Is it opioid-based? I read the instructions and it said they are a narcotic. ## Hi Nancy, According to Wikipedia, hydrochloride is defined as an acid salt. This is not opioid-derived from what I can tell. In the pharmaceutical field, my understanding is that the presence of hydrochloride acts as a catalyst for better absorption / bioavailability. For this reason, hydrochloride exists in a myriad of drug formulations (including non-narcotics). However, there are reports of individuals being hypersensitive to hydrochloride and noting that they should try to avoid it whenever possible. These patients may be few and far between, but if in doubt I would encourage you to contact your pharmacy just to be on the safe side. I ho...

red kali 083 ## WHAT IS IT USED FOR? ## This is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, it contains both Acetaminophen and Tramadol so it is a little stronger than just Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen alone. It is non-narcotic, so it is really mild and only helps with minor aches and pain.

I was given this drug in Mexico after a serious accident. What is the difference in this drug and ordinary Tramadol? My physician in the states has prescribed regular Tramadol for pain of arthritis and fibromyalgia. ## The medication from Mexico contained both Ketorolac and Tramadol. Ketorolac is a potent nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Tramadol is a relatively mild opiate narcotic that is just used to treat pain. Putting an NSAID, with the Narcotic tends to enhance the analgesic effects. As similar medication that is available in the U.S. would be Ultracet, which is also available as a generic, it couples the Tramadol with Acetaminophen. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My back is killing me can I I take diabetic pills and I take high b...

Does anyone know if this medication (Tramadol/Ultram) is a controlled substance? ## i live in the uk and have been on tramadol for about 6-7 years now and it is over here ## no, it is not a controled sub. it is non narcotic, genric for ultram. it intercepts neurotransmitter in your brain (serotonin) to control pain ## if tramadol is not a controlled substance why do they ask for ID at the pharmacy? ## I dont care what they say. Tramadol is an addictive narcotic. It's not as hard to kick as the others but a narcotic just the same. ## Iv been told Tramadol is a watered down version of stronger narcotics. In fact I feel like Iv been lied to. Im a recovering drug addict. I learned I had liver cancer in the ER. They gave me this and said it wont triger a relaps. Like hell it wont. Im eve...

Don't be fooled thinking it's not the usual pain killers you hear a vicodine, percocet etc. I was on tramadol for 6 yrs 8 pills @ 50 mg a day. Then got pregnant with my son and I weaned myself off of them for my child health. It was one of the worst things I've ever gone through. I felt like I was coming off of oxycodone all over again. When I was first put on them I was told by my doctor that they were none addictive and I wld be fine to rake. As I sd to her I didn't want to go through withdrawals again she assured me that they were not in the same class of drugs as vicodon etc. As of Feb 2015 tramadol is now listed as a narcotic. Just be aware and read all your facts before u start any new meds. Bcse I'm sure I'm not the only person who gets that doctor who giv...

I have been on Tramadol for at least 9 years now, I am SEVERELY ALLERGIC TO NSAIDS, and do not like most Narcotic pain meds as they make me feel "yucky". They just took Tramadol off of the $4 list at wal-mart, and Tramadol is expensive, being allergic to NSAIDS is causing major problems in getting pain relief for me, what else can I take for pain that is not an NSAID, and inexpensive???? ## Hi Mindy, In the link below you can view a chart of prescription and non prescription pain medications ranked from weak to strong. You can use this chart to determine what other options you have as far as switching over to a stronger or less expensive medication (odds are though, if you want something higher up on this list, it will likely be more expensive): You may also want to talk to you...

is tramadol, a narcotic or non narctic pain medication ## Tramadol is actually classified as a non-narcotic, centrally active analgesic. There have been questions raised over its status and the classification has been changed, several times. This is due to the fact that it is derived from a narcotic. When it was created, those developing it tried to create a medication that would be as effective for pain as a narcotic, but without the side effects and addicting properties. However, they later found out that this did not work. What they actually created is something that isn't as effective and still caused all the other problems.
