I just got my brothers autopsy report back and it says he died from overdose of Fentanyl and Methone . It says no alcohol. Methone amount was.05 fentanyl was .19 is that enough for someone to die? ## I am so very sorry for your loss. There's no specific range that can be given to answer your question. It depends on the person, their age, weight, overall health and their tolerance to narcotics. Some people can take quite a lot and not have a problem, while other may overdose at much lower doses. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic opiates, so there is a risk of them being habit forming and abused. Their typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. Did he have any medical conditions?

Just checking in after not logging on for awhile. Today is my 34th day Fentanyl patch free! I'm so thankful! I'm also back to my original pain level. Unfortunately I thought I could also go right into my hydrocodone cessation. I did. But I need it. Trying to cope for ten more days until my next appt ! ## Hello, Yvonne! I am so sorry that you are in pain, again. Has it eased up, any? When you go cold turkey off of such medications, there is a risk of rebound pain occurring, which can sometimes be worse than the pain you started taking it to treat, so you may be dealing with a double whammy, the rebound effect and your old pain returning. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry...

i going on suboxen and need to knnow when i start subs ## Hello, Mike! How are you? You actually need to be in full withdrawal, before taking Suboxone. It contains Buprenorphine coupled with Naloxone, which neutralizes other narcotics to prevent them being used, while someone is being treated with it, so taking it too soon could throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. What instructions did your doctor provide? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How long have you been off of the Fentanyl?

I want to know what is in fentanyl patch mine are only 12 mg? ## Hello, Jude! How are you? Fentanyl is exactly what's in them, the FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. And the dose is actually in micrograms, because it is very potent. 12mgs of it would most likely kill someone. Is there anything else I can help with?

What are the uses for Fentanyl and what's in it? ## what is fentanyl? and how long does it take to come off a 50mcg because my wife smokes a cigarete sometimes and pain management will not treat you if you smoke here in hall co. ga. ## Does all pain treatment places now in america refuse to treat you if you smoke cigarets?? Thats the current policy here in gainesville ga. hall co. dont understand the logic behind it . ## Fentanyl is a very potent opiate that is used to treat severe pain, thus, the FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. what would happen if I ate an expired fentanyl lollipop? Are they less potent? What happens to them after its passed its expiration date? ## Hello, Jillian! How are you? This medication doesn't get dangerous, once it's expire, but yes it does start to lose effectiveness. It is best to dispose of expired medications and see your doctor for a new prescription. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am on the 100 mcg fentanyl patch and 4 mgs hydromorphone for breakthrough pain, does anyone know about the fentanyl lozenges for breakthrough pain? I’d like to request my doctor take me off hydromorphine and change to the lozenges for my breakthrough pain, I’m wondering if someone is doing this already? Thank you ## In many cases, Fentanyl isn't doubled up due to the very real risk of overdosing the patient. It is a very potent narcotic, so a doctor has to be very cautious regarding how much they prescribe, and how frequently it is to be taken. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. An overdose, however, may be fatal. Why do you want to swi...

Hi, I started using a 12 mcg fentanyl patch about a month and a half ago for chronic pain. I never abused them and I always changed them every 72 hours like I was prescribed to. Well I decided that it was time to get off the patch and tried one day to take it off and a few hours later I started to experience "the flu times ten" I was told by my doctor that my body had formed a dependency to the drug and if I was ready to get off then he wants to wean me off. Well he prescribed me to dilaudid 4mg and he said as soon as I take the patch off to take half off my first dilaudid. The first day I take a half every 6 hours.. the next 2 days I take a half every 8 hours.. then the next 2 days after that its a half every 12 hours.. then the next 2 days after that its a half daily. I'm ...

My husband was just told by his doctors office that there is a new process for getting his patches. They are telling him that he can no longer pick up the triplicate form, but they have to send it to the pharmacy via ups. The pharmacy is a quarter mile away, this seems rather extreme. Anyone else have this issue?

I filled my last 2 prescriptions at walgreens and they had your brand I was out of pain within a half hour -Are you switching to these flat patches? and if so PLEASE help me find a company that will still carry them !!! ## this site does not manufacture, nor sell any medications, this is an information only website, therefore this site is not switching anythin...

Is this normal to feel like death ## Hi J, Sorry to hear about your experience with Fentanyl. While I don't think it's common to feel this way, Fentanyl is regarded as a very powerful medication. So it could be that your body just isn't used to having something so potent in its system. Also, from what I've read in other discussion threads, the side effects of this medication can and often do take their toll on the body, in a way that may make some people feel "lifeless", weak, or very ill. My suggestion is, if you don't like how your body is responding to it, then you should probably consider other forms of pain management. Perhaps something natural that can be used as an adjunctive therapy, alongside something weaker than Fentanyl (that you can more easily t...

what is the difference between liquid and jelly types ## I'am on 75 mcg of fentanyl patch jelly form. I found when i used the other fentanyl patches with the glue all over them i would break out from the glue. So what is the difference between the patches and do they work as well. I was told to use a steroid nasal spray under the patch before applying it, but everyone i've asked has never heard of using the spray before applying patch. So i've decided to just stay with the jelly form. Has anyone else had this problem and do the patches work the same jelly patches versus the ones with glue all over them. I'm still not getting much relief anyway, i've had chronic pain for some time and i'm only 52 but due to all my health problems i really don't have a life any...

My sister is on the 25mcg Fentanyl patch. She is having problems with the adhesive. Her arm is turging red, puffing up and burning and itching. After the patch is removed getting the adhesite residue off has been a problem. She was using rubbing alcohol but is now using vegetable oil. If anything since starting to use the vegetable oil the redness, and swelling seems worse. She has switched pharmacies hoping a different brand of patch might help. She is wondering if Fentanyl can be taken in a way other than by a patch. Such as pill form etc. ## Wow! I am so sorry to hear about what she's dealing with. It sounds like she might be allergic to something in the adhesive. I experience those symptoms any time I use a latex bandage, I have to avoid them. And yes, it is available in other f...

pain control medication for person that has had 15 abdominal surgeries.Abdominal muscle damage, 2 bypasses, 40% of stomach removed, exploratory to locate appendix, attachment of liver to stomach, gallbladder removed, abdominal abcesses. ## Hello, Grinch! How are you? In such cases, the Fentanyl skin patch is usually prescribed, that why it bypasses the stomach, so there is nothing to hinder its absorption. It is a very potent medication, over 80 times stronger than Morphine and each patch is worn for 48 to 72 hours, depending on the person's pain levels and tolerance. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I've been using the fentanyl patches for 4yrs now. Mostly Mylan brand (best out there). But the pharmacy switched to watson brand because of cheaper price. Here's the problem, for the last 5 months 6 patches out of 15 per month don't stick. They fall off within a couple of hours. Do you recommend some kind of cover tape that I can use? Because of the problems with these products I'm losing a lot of $$$. PLEASE HELP!!! Can someone please get back to me about this. Thanks for your time. ## Hello, Shawn! How are you? There is a cover tape available for them, most pharmacies carry it, so you may want to talk to your pharmacist about the problem. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects,...
