Can I have a tooth extracted if I'm using subutex? Will the local anaesthetic still work okay? Regards, Dave ## It should, since there is nothing in Subutex to neutralize it. The anesthetic used by dentists is not a narcotic and the Subutex doesn't contain Naloxone, anyway. However, I'd suggest making sure the dentist knows you're taking it, just to be on the safe side. Learn more Subutex details here. Having had 2 teeth pulled, while I had an active infection so the anesthetic didn't work, I can assure you that's something you don't want to experience. I went to see my doctor this week and he told me that the FDA and the DEA had passed a new law for prescribing Subutex. As of July 1st 2015 Subutex can only be given to pregnant woman or to someone with documentation saying they can't take Suboxone. If you don't have that you will be put on Suboxone. ## They Are Both the same thing. Better yet, stop doing narcotics, get off opiates completely. Do you focus on school and work as much as you do opiates being controlled By the DEA??? ## Jim, not that it's any of your business, but yes I do focus on my career now that I'm off the opiates and taking subutex. Need help paying for subutex ## Hello, Tammy! How are you? I'm sorry, but I have not been able to find a current assistance program for Subutex. This is fairly normal, since generics are available now, which by their very nature are cheaper. One idea to try to save money on your prescription would be to ask your pharmacy if they accept any discount cards. Most of them are free to enroll in, you just sign up on the relevant website and then print the card. Does anyone else have any ideas? Will you insurance cover it? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Was on methadone fir 3 months and I've been off of it fir 1 month but I've been doing other opiates to get me through the withdrawal. I'm looking into taking subutex and wanted to no if I can take one right away or do I have to wait 24hrs for the opiates to get out of my system. ## Hello, Tiny! How are you? Subutex only contains Buprenorphine, it does not contain the Naloxone that is in Suboxone to cause withdrawal, so it does not require the waiting period. This is a narcotic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I love subutex but can't get is this a popular drug like suboxton ## Hello, Kat! How are you? While both are commonly used to treat drug addiction, Subutex only contains the opiate Buprenorphine. However, Suboxone couples Buprenorphine with Naloxone, to neutralize other narcotics and help prevent their abuse, while someone is being treated with it. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Suboxone is the preferred drug for treatment, unless someone is pregnant, or allergic to the Naloxone. Is there anything else I can help with?

I just read of people taking QUARTERS and it kinda freaked me out. Hah. Is it just that I may have a higher tolerance? ## What dosage have you been instructed to take, or are you trying to self-treat? If you're trying to self-treat, you should be aware that Subutex contains a very potent narcotic, you can learn more Buprenorphine details here and it can be very dangerous. Usually, the dosage is very precisely calculated to help prevent withdrawal symptoms. ## I'm self treating but I immediately went to just taking one a day. ## I forgot to mention that I was coming off of H. I am done getting high and wanna clean my life up.I been taking subutex and find that its making me depressed. It helps me get threw the day and gives me motivation to work.I take suboxin but it makes me sick to my stomach and sometimes i vomit. Is there a way to help with these symptoms ## THe symptoms you are describing are normal side effects of the Buprenorphine that is in both Suboxone and Subutex, because it is still a narcotic opiate. However, the reason that Suboxone may be making you more nauseated is because it also contains Naloxone, which is used to help prevent the abuse of other narcotics, while someone is under treatment with this and it can throw you into...

I had a knee surgery yesterday. I have been using subutex to help me taper narcotics. I stopped the subutex 2 weeks before surgery. My doctor prescribed both percocet and oxycontin. I am getting no pain relief. The iv Dilaudid worked in the hospital. Has anyone taken Dilaudid by pill at home? ## I have suffered with chronic neck and back pain for years due to disk and nerve problems. My Dr. switched me from oxycontin to diulaudid (4-8 mg) and it worked for the first 9 mos. or so, then I got no relief. Many people get sick on it or very itchy. I am now on a higher dosage of Percoset. ## Are you familiar with subutex? ## No, I'm not. ## It is a new drug that has some pain killing ability. It is a controlled substance. I only took two Subutex 8 milligrams. How long till I can take Oxycodone 15 mg? ## You will still need to wait at least 72 hours, before the Oxycodone will be effective, due to the Suboxone blocking it's affect, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## First of all, he said subutex, not suboxone. That being said, 16mg is quite a bit so I would wait at least 24 hours. You won't go into withdrawal as it doesn't contain the same naloxone that suboxone has. You might not feel it though as the subutex is still working. No need to take such...

I took one 8 mg 24 hours ago. First one I took. Will I feel opiates after 24 hrs ## Hello, Rick! How are you? Most likely not! Subutex tends to take a stronger hold on your opiate receptors, even though it's a rather weak opiate itself, so it prevents the others from having much of an effect. It would be best to give it several days. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How long did your doctor advise you to wait?

Why would someone take suboxone and subutex at the same time. Are they not basically treating the same condition? ## Yes, the only difference is that the Suboxone contains Naloxone, to neutralize other narcotics that someone may try to take at the same time. However, the narcotic in both is Buprenorphine, which is used to treat drug addiction and severe cases of pain that is resistant to other medications. Have they both been prescribed to someone?

I have an 8mg subutex.ive been on suboxone for ten months and now im out of meds. Will this subutex replace the suboxone as the same,or is it different. ## The difference between the two is that the Suboxone contains Buprenorphine and Naloxone, the latter is used to neutralize other opiates and prevent their abuse, while someone is under treatment with it. The Subutex, however, only contains the narcotic Buprenorphine. Have you talked to your doctor for assistance?
