I was just given 20mg Oxycodone ER instead of Oxycontin 20mg ER & am wondering if I'm to expect same relief & duration? ## Hello, Rick! How are you? Both contain Oxycodone as the active ingredient, so they are equivalent. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

Which med is stronger: Oxycodone/apap 5-325, OxyContin or Hysingla er 30 mg? ## Hello, Flora! How are you? Oxycodone is the active ingredient in Oxycontin in a time released formulation, so which of those is stronger depends on the dosage, however, in theory the Oxycontin should be stronger, because the lowest dose of it available is 10mgs. The 30mg Hysingla ER is equivalent to 20mgs of Oxycodone, so of the three you've listed, this is the highest dose. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic analgesic, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am wondering if dilaudid is stronger than oxycontin? morphine? norco? norco 10/325? liquid 40ml norco 2.5mg/5ml? ## Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone. That said, it is a potent narcotic, and what it is stronger than depends on the dosage of each. It is not stronger than most dosages of Oxycodone, but is stronger than some. Oxycodone is the strongest product on the market approved to treat pain. Whether it is stronger than the others also depends on what dose of the Dilaudid you're asking about. Was this prescribed for you? You can read more about it here: ## Actually, Opana (oxymorphone) is about 2 to 3 times stronger than oxycodone, or contin. I went from a oxy 30mg ER to an Opana 10mg and have had the best results as far as pain relief. ## can you list the le...

I TAKE 30MG OXYCODONE EVERY 8 HOURS AND IT NEVER LASTS. I START FEELING PAIN ABOUT 6 HOURS IN. I RAN OUT AN TOOK A 40MG MORPHINE AND IT LASTED ABOUT 10 HOURS. ## Hello, Sue! How are you? Oxycodone is actually the strongest of the ones you've mentioned. However, the formulation may come into play. Were they all regular release or were some of them time released? ## I have been taking hydrocodone 10/ acetaminophen 325 every 6 hours for 4 years and now I am being switch to morphine SO4 30MG SA TAB three times a day It doesn’t seem to be working as good for me as the hydrocodone has in the past. What do you think? {edited for privacy}. ## How can you only be on 30 mil. every 8 hours? I'm in pain every day. I see my Dr. every month and I just got off my oxycontin because my pha...

Which is stronger? My new insurance won't pay for oxycontin and substituted generic percoset but it doesn't seem to work as well. Is it my imagination? ## Hello, John! How are you? Oxycodone and Oxycontin are the same medication, Oxycontin is just a name brand for the time released version of it, so the 30mgs is stronger, it's just released slowly over an 8 hour period, as compared to the regular release that is released all at once. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. You may want to ask our doctor about possibly trying MS Contin, it is a time released formulation of Morphine that is also available as a generic, so most insura...

I wonder what the difference is between 15MG MS Contin vs 15 Mg Oxycodone. Is there a substitute for MS Morphine..I take 2 30mg MS Contin twice a day and also with that I take 15MG MS Contin twice per day..which of course is 45mgs at a time..with 3 15mg Oxcodone for breakthru pain. I was taking 20 mg Oxycontin 3 times a day etc. But my insurance wasn't paying for the oxy. So what I take now is paid for. Do any of you have any suggestions of what would work better for the pain..since I changed to morphine it doesn't seem to do the trick..this is long..but any answers would be very appriciated..Thanks.. ## Oxycodone is actually one and a half times stronger than Morphine. So, for instance if you were taking 20mgs of Oxycodone, at a time, to relieve your pain, then the equivalent d...

This is to answer the question is there a higher dose form of norco the answer is yes it's called Zohydro it was made here in San Diego and has been approved by the Fda and Sea but it might be hard to find and the insurance company might not cover it, it's and extended version kinda like oxycontin for oxycodone and it comes in different doses. Fact not fiction. ## Just to clarify, Zohydro only contains Hydrocodone, in a time released formulation. It does not contain Acetaminophen, like Norco does. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are there any questions or concerns? ## verwon you are just right as for the side effects but it comes in dosage as l...

I am taking 30 mgs. Oxycodone up to 3 pills per day for severe back pain. Years ago I was on Oxycontin and don't remember the mgs. What is the difference between these two medications. I believe Oxycontin is stronger if they are the same dosage, is that correct? ## Hello, Candy! How are you? Oxycodone is the active ingredient in Oxycontin, it's just in a time released formulation that's designed to slowly release the medication over a period of 12 hours. So no, neither is stronger. It's just that the regular Oxycodone that you're taking now is released all at once, within 15 to 20 minutes of your taking it. This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else ...

Help me find something stronger than oxycodone 30 imm release and works longer I'm going too doctors in the morning and I need everyone's help please ## Hello, Caityln! How are you? There is no 30mg immediate release Oxycodone, so if you weren't taking Oxycontin, then I assume you were on the regular release formulation that starts working 15 to 20 minutes after you take it. That said, there are stronger doses of Oxycodone available that could try, if your doctor approves. If you prefer Morphine, you'd need 45mgs of it to be equivalent to each 30mgs of the Oxycodone that you were taking, so more if you need to increase the dosage. The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, s...

Have they changed? They were once yellow but heard genres are bluish & stronger than real ones? ## Hello, Jack! How are you? I am so sorry for your loss, that's so tragic. The tablet with the K 57 marking is manufactured by KVK Tech and they list them as containing only 20mgs of Oxycodone in a regular release formulation. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizzin...

Is oxycontin and Percocet the same thing except without the tylenol ## Yeah. It's usually extended release instead of the percocet, which is immediate release. Not all the time but that's what I've seen. ## Hello, Katy! How are you? No, Raine, you are correct, both contain Oxycodone, but Percocet also contains Acetaminophen/Tylenol and Oxycontin just contains Oxycodone in a 12 hour time released formulation. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything I can help with? ## Is a 18 mg xtampza ER stronger or the same as Percocet 10mg? ## Suzie, Both medications contain oxycodone xtampza er is an extended rele...

My primary dr has me on 10 mg percocet, 2 every 4 hrs for chronic/severe leg pain but it has lost it's effectiveness. I have appt w/pain mgt clinic on the 18th for the 1st time and am hoping they rx something stronger & definitely something that lasts longer. I haven't slept a full night in almost 2 years due to waking up in pain, taking meds, waiting for them to kick in and waiting to fall asleep again. Does anyone have an educated guess on what they may rx or what works well for this problem? Just curious and very excited at the prospect of having this pain under control. ## There are actually several time released medications that they may choose from. Also what other long and short act meds should I look up that are stronger than what I am currently taking ## Hello, Mtothej! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Demerol isn't actually a good choice, because it's much weaker than Oxycodone. For each 20mgs you take of Oxycodone, you'd have to take 300mgs of Demerol to be equivalent. There are higher doses of Oxycodone available, including the time released Oxycontin that's taken every 12 hours. There are also patches available that contain Fentanyl, ...

I was taking 4 80 mg oxys daily my doc put me on 2 100 mg teva morphines will it help the same and will i go through withdraw thank you ## There may be some issues here, because the Oxycodone is actually 1 and a half time stronger than the Morphine, so you'd need 120mgs of Morphine to equal each 80mg dose you were taking of the Oxycodone. Learn more Oxycodone details here. Learn more Morphine details here. which is stronger--10 mg of Percocet or 15 mg of oxycontin? Which is more addictive? ## Hello, CS! How are you? They both contain the same narcotic, which is Oxycodone. Thus, technically the 15mg Oxycontin is stronger, but it is time released and doesn't work all at once, like the Percocet. Percocet also contains Acetaminophen with the Oxycodone, which helps it work better for some people. And thus, that means that neither is more of less addictive. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

been on oxycontin for 4 years and is not working as well since they switched formula ## There have been many complaints about this. Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone and it is actually stronger than Oxycodone, requiring just half the dose. So, if you were taking 80mgs of Oxycontin, you would need just 40mgs of Opana. Since it is a narcotic, the side effect profile is basically the same: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. What is stronger. Propranolol #20mg. Or Oxycotin ## I'm sorry, but since they aren't in the same drug class and aren't used to treat the same conditions, there is no way to compare these two medications. Propranolol is a beta blocker, these medications are most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions. However, in some cases, they can also be effective at treating migraines or tension headaches. Here's a link to learn more about Proranolol details. And the Oxycontin contains the active ingredient Oxycodone in a time released formulation, this is a very potent narcotic analgesic that is strictly used to treat pain. IS THERE ANY THING STRONGER THAT MY PAIN MGMT DR CAN PRESCRIBE ME THAN A 30MG ROXY, he also prescribes 200mg of ms contin ## Hello, Dave! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. There is a time released form of the Oxycodone available called Oxycontin, you could speak to your doctor about switching to that, since it would be stronger than the MS Contin. There are also patches available that contain the potent narcotic Fentanyl, it's the strongest one available. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. To replace your regular release medication, if you prefer to do that, there are higher doses of Roxicodone available, as well as several other alt...
