Oxycodone IS the generic form of Percocet. (Percocet is the name brand, as Advil= IBprofun & Tylenol=Acetimeniphen.) your doc has u on the 5mg instead of the 10mg, probably for a reason-so be careful, this addiction Thing is no joke. I promise you. Your better off starting as low as possible. Hey, wishing you a happy quick recovery! Xo ## Actually, Percocet is the name brand for a medication that contains the active ingredien...

Hi my name is Rosy and I'm suffering from breast cancer and fibromalgia and spinal stenosis and herniated disks my pain management prescribed me peecocet10mg325 And my primary doctor prescribed me oxicoden 10mg. Cr I feel the this oxicodene10mg.crare not relieve the pain as much is the percoxe 10mg.325 Thank you so much for your help . ## Hello, Rosy! How are you feeling? The reason you may feel that the Percocet relieves your pain more is due to the Acetaminophen that it contains. It helps the Oxycodone to work better for some people that take it. Thus, though they both contain Oxycodone, the Acetaminophen may give it just enough of a boost to help you more. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side ef...

Hi looking for some guidance hoping someone could shed some light. I have very chronic neck and back pains. I also having bulging disk in my neck C4 all the way to C6. I have been on Norco, Vicadin, Ibuprofen 800, genetic Percocet and name brand Percocet ( the hello pill with the Percocet logo on it) I have had 2 neck procedures done. The first was an epidural shot with trigger points and the second was a radio frequency medial branch remi. Nothing has helped me my doctor is really looking to help me get better I don't know why no matter what I take or do the darn pain just won't go away. You would think be being so tiny the pills would effect me and they don't! I am 5'3 120lbs and I have taken at times 8/10 Percocets in a day to no avail. Just today my doctor changed my...

I went to the ER on 12/6/2015. I was in serious pain. The Dr. ordered me 2 Vicodin to take at the Hospital. He gave me a prescription before I left. The medication bottle said Oxycodone. I took it. However, I had a bad reaction to it. I was itchy all over my head. Scalp, lips, nose were unbearable. ## Hello, Janet! How are you? Yes, Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone. Are you allergic to it? The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## No I'm just in a lot of pain and need something stronger. Been taking Advil 200 mg every 4 hrs. But now I want to take stronger pills for pain. Hurt shoulder

i found a pink round pill with k56 on it is it the same as percocet? ## No, they are not the same. Percocet contains both Acetaminophen and Oxycodone. The Acetaminophen potentiates the action of the Oxycodone to help better control pain. And this tablet with the K 56 marking just contains 10mgs of Oxycodone by itself, in a regular release formulation. You can learn more Percocet details here and you can learn more Oxycodone details here. Both are narcotic opiates, so they have the potential to be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, they are different, due to the addition of the Acetaminophen in the Percocet. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Which one is stronger percocet or k56 ## Stronger? If ...

I have been on Percocet 10/650 for around 8 yrs. now for my back. They cannot do surgery because the bone and discs in my spine are not strong enough to hold any type of device. They have now changed it to Oxycodone 15 mg but doesn't seem to help. Is Oxycodone 15 stronger than the Percocet 10/650? I am NOT looking for drugs and the high that some give. My profession is very important to me and I would NEVER risk loosing it due to drugs, however, I am on my feet for at least 12 hrs. a day on concrete. I am just curious if the Oxy 15 is stronger and better to take or is there something better. ## The problem may be caused by the lack of Acetaminophen, it generally enhances the effects of the Oxycodone and helps it work better. Have you consulted your doctor? If they still permit you t...

I had reconstructed surgery on both my feet. For 4 months I was on generic Diloded.(hydromorphone) My Dr.just put me on 5mg oxycodone with Hydrochloride. He said it's supposed 2b stronger than Percocet. Can sum1 tell me if that's true. Sincerely-B. 9/12/16 ## Hello, Blacky! How are you? No, it is about the same, maybe a little weaker, depending on your body's individualism. If you look at the NIH pages regarding this, Percocet contains Oxycodone with Acetaminophen. The Acetaminophen augments that action of the Oxycodone for some people that take it. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. The only thing you can do is try it and see if it helps y...

Can someone please tell me if one of the 5mg oxycodones without Tylenol is equal to a percocet 10mg? Is it stronger or weaker and would it only take one to equal the equivalent of a perk 10 or 2 of the oxycodone 5mg ## Hi Julie, To answer your question, 5mgs of Oxycodone quite simply does NOT equate to 10mgs of Oxycodone + 325mgs of Tylenol found in Percocet. Usually when people abbreviate the term "perk 10" this means that it contains 10mgs of Oxycodone and nothing less. So even without the Tylenol it would still be stronger than 5mgs of the same substance. I hope this makes sense! ## Simple math here....5<10 same active ingredient.

Either most of you are drug seaking at this point or you need some education. ## Wow some ppl are just looking for answers for some one else or for them selfs so they dornt hurt them selfs bc the doctor or pain clinic doesnt answer there question clearly. Maybe u should support ppl with the hand they been given and maybe just maybe u should try not being so narrow minded put yourself in there shoes and stop judging ppl on an info sites like this one bc this is a site that ppl come to for answers. If u want to judge ppl stop a blog that no one will read. If u want to act like someones mom do it somewhere that ppl dont look for real life answers ## Amen! I am on suboxone sublingual film for the moderate-to-severe pain. I need to switch to a pain medicine that will be strong enough to kill rheumatoid arthritis. I need one that does not have aspirin or acetaminophen in it but cannot seem to figure out which one to ask the doctor for. ## Cathy, I'm sorry your experiencing so much discomfort.Actually its recommended the doctor decide what medication is optimal for your condition since only he or she is familiar with your history and condition. There are many effective medications that do not contain acetaminophen or NSAIDs but you must allow your doctor to recommend these for you.Otherwise they may see this as drug seeking behavior by specifically seeking particular medications by name. Out of curiosity what is stronger Percocet 7.5 (325 mg) or Oxycodone 10 mg Immediate Release (IR)? I know the only difference between these two is one has Acetaminophen and one doesn’t. The 7.5 mg Perc didn’t say if it was IR or (Extended Release) ER. If needed more details I’ll explain replying to your post(s). Just trying to have an idea. ## Percocet is immediate release, and even though the Acetaminophen does boost its efficacy for some people that take it, the 10mg Oxycodone is still stronger. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No. That’s perfect thanks! Had 2 surgeries in the past (1...

Just wanted to know which one is stronger and by how much? Thanks, ## Hello, Dale! How are you? Technically, neither. However, for some people that Acetaminophen in Percocet can augment the action of the Oxycodone, so it may be more effective and could be the same as them taking 12 or 13mgs of the Oxycodone. But, it doesn't work that way for everyone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'm looking for a doctor that will be willing to help me ## Thats the SAME,DRUG. I've been on oxycodone 10mg for several years. My pain management doc has been reducing my prescription by 5 pills each month to get me down to just 120 per month. Next month I will be at the 120 mark. I've been complaining as that 1 less per day makes a difference in managing my pain daily. A few months ago my pharmacy switched their supplier and the new pills won't cut. They literally shatter on one side leaving me about 3/4 of a pill & crumbs. So now my doctor is suggesting I go on Percocet 10/325mg. I know the 325 is acetaminophen. But what is the difference between Oxy & Percocet? I'm not a fan of taking that much acetaminophen daily without an end in sight. Is the Percocet 10/325mg is stronger than Oxy 10mg? The same? Unless it's stronger, I don't k...

The pa (I currently have been assigned at a rehabilitation place I have been placed at to recover from a lower leg, no weight bearing break) wants me to take morphine instead of Percocet. I have been taking it for 16 years for the ms I have. ## The Oxycodone in Percocet is one and a half times stronger than Morphine. So, Morphine could still help alleviate your pain, but the dosage must be carefully calculated. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. My doc has been prescribing me percocet 10 mg. And now he prescribed me oxycodone 5mg. Which is stronger? The percocet 10's i have been taking for almost 2 years and i told him that they wasn't working that's when he prescribed me the oxycodone 5'mg. And they aren't working either. I am taking pain medication for surgery's . Since the oxycodone 5'mg aren't working what should i ask for. Now hydrocodone doesn't agree with me. It makes me sick.and i would prefer to stick with oxycodone. What should i ask for ? ## Percocet is actually a combination medication that contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen, because the Acetaminophen helps increase the efficacy of the Oxycodone. So, if you were taking it, there should have been two dosages listed, such a 10/325...

I got my prescription filled and when I got home from the pharmacy in the bottle I had the white IP 206 Oxycodone instead of my normal Percocet 10 yellow pill. Should I take this or bring them back to receive my yellow Percocet 10 (or) do the two work just as strong or not? Thanks ## This is the exact same medication, just manufactured by a different company than the one you had received, before. Many pharmacies switch which one they carry, according to whatever company had the cheapest generic available when they placed their restock order. If you went back and insisted on getting the other ones, again, they probably won't even have then in stock anymore. ## I am a 55 year woman. my MIR looks like a 75 year old. I have been prescribed 30 mg roxicodone. Changed from Percocet. Seems to be working today. (First day) do they last all day. My pain was gone in 30 minutes. Wondering about tolerance. Took 10 mg Percocet 4 × day for a year. I have fluid on my brain and back problems ## How many times a day has your doctor instructed you to take it? The base narcotic in both are the same, it's Oxycodone, so equivalency is going to depend on how often you are taking it. Usually, according to NIH reports, Roxicodone is taken 3 to 4 times a day. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

I take Lortab 10's, Fentanyl 100mg patch every 3 days and Ibuprofen. I stay in constant pain and wanted to know what I could switch to that would be stronger and help with my constant pain. I've been on all 3 medicines and alot of other medicine (not pain medicine) for over 3yrs. ## Yes, it only takes 6.67mgs of Oxycodone to equal each 10mgs of Hydrocodone, so the Percocet would be stronger. Learn more Percocet details here. Oxycodone is also available by itself, without the Acetaminophen, in a regular release formulation, so you also may want to ask your doctor about that. It is another narcotic opiate, so it also has the potential to be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. My primary dr has me on 10 mg percocet, 2 every 4 hrs for chronic/severe leg pain but it has lost it's effectiveness. I have appt w/pain mgt clinic on the 18th for the 1st time and am hoping they rx something stronger & definitely something that lasts longer. I haven't slept a full night in almost 2 years due to waking up in pain, taking meds, waiting for them to kick in and waiting to fall asleep again. Does anyone have an educated guess on what they may rx or what works well for this problem? I'm taking 15mg of morphine and my doctor wants to give me percocet due to a recent diagnosis, so I'm kinda wondering if the medication I have now is better or is it about the same? ## Hi Shelly, According to nih.gov, Oxycodone (one of the main active ingredients in Percocet) is said to be approximately 1.5x stronger than Morphine. If this holds true and I did the math correctly, then 7.5mg of Oxycodone would be equal to about 11.25mg of Morphine (7.5 x 1.5 =11.25); and 10mg of Oxycodone would be equal to about 15mg of Morphine (10 x 1.5 =15). The addition of Acetaminophen in Percocet would probably top the 15mg of Morphine if you were prescribed the 10/325 dosage form. I hope this makes sense!? Never the less, you should be able to trust your doctor to prescribe something of si...
