Is Oxycodone 5 Mg And A Morphine The Same Thing

Does anyone know if 2 15mg morphine tabs would be equal to 1 30mg oxycodone. Both are immediate release. I have been on the 30's but due to my upcoming surgery my Dr. feels that I need stronger pain med's. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. ## Actually, the Oxycodone is one and a half time stronger than Morphine, so to equal 30mgs of the Oxycodone would require 45mgs of the Morphine. white ## No such thing, are you referring to Oxycodone? Or Morphine? Either way, you have not provided enough information, do you know how many pills there are that are white? There are no proprietary guidelines in the pharmaceutical industry that states all pills with the same ingredient must be the same color, size and/or shape. These are entirely up to the whit and whim of the manufacturer. well i had surgery and my surgen priscribed oxycodone 5mg.after my block they put on my shoulder i was in alot of pain so i went to see my Physician and she gave me morphine and i told her i was on oxycodone 5mg from my surgen. She was aware that she was giving me the oxycodone 5/325 because she was still filling them. Being that one had acetaphine i thought it was 2 diffrent things. Now the problem is that i usually use 2 pharmacy which ever is closer and that day that my surgeon gave me a scriped i went to take it out and it was late so i went to a @4hr pharmacy that was near and they told me it was too early and that i was using 3 pharmacys and 2 of the same meds and that he would call my Dr's to let them know.So the next day the surgeon asst calls me and tells me what the pharma...

I now take 60 mgs of morphine 4x a day and 15mgs oxycodone 4x a day. Would it be safe for me to stop the oxycodone since they are both the same? ## Hello, Angel! How are you? They aren't the same, but they are both related narcotics. However, you may experience some withdrawal symptoms, from stopping the Oxycodone. As listed by the FDA, they may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, diarrhea, fever and chills. I am on 40mg of Opana and 15 mg ir morphine for 3 ruptured discs. . When I take the morphine it makes me tired. Is there an IR that will not make me groggy? ## Hello, Steven! How are you? Drowsiness is a possible side effect of all narcotics, it's really just a matter of trial an error to find one that works for you, without making you sleepy. Morphine did the same thing to me, when I was on it, I could barely ever stay awake. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you tried Oxycodone? It may work better for you.

i just got hurt 2 weeks and i sliped 2 disk in my back i have been to 3 different doctors and they wont give me hardly anything stronger than a oxycodone 5 one doctor gave me 10s and their saying i will prolly be in pain for the rest of my life!!! but they dont seem to help a whole lot with the pain do u think its because i am only 23 that they wont give me a stronger dose or what??? plzzz help someone! or if they know a doctor that will help i live in maryland and will be willing to drive a couple hours just to see the doctor. ## Will you drive to New York. I am in pain management and I currently take oxy 30mg 3x's a day... my doctor is willing to switch me to something else if I want, since the oxys do not provide enough relief. when I asked her what kind of dose I would start at the only thing she would match mg for mg would be morphine..opana she will only start me at 20mg 2 per day. does anyone know if this would be equal to the oxy I take now?? I tested positive for morphine twice now at 2 diff. pain clinics but I only take norco (hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10/325) and oxycodone 5 mg hcl. What would cause this as I'm allergic to morphine? ## This same thing happened to me today at my doctor's office and I am SO upset. My scrip is for ONE 5/325 mg Oxycodone once daily.
