Side affects of methadone my patient took some wondering what to look for ## Hello, Rita! How are you? The FDA classifies Methadone as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Overdose symptoms may include trouble breathing, extreme dizziness and drowsiness, and lowered heart rate. Is there anything else I can help with?

Where can I get methadone pills prescribed for opiate addiction. I live in Michigan and all I can find is clinics not doctors who will prescribe the pill form. Please help I have tried everything. Thanks ## You can't go to a doctor and get methadone for opiate addiction. Only clinics are allowed to prescribe methadone for addiction, Doctors can prescribe it for pain only, What opiates are you addicted to? If you don't want to go to a clinic for whatever reason, suboxone may be a better choice for you. If you need anything else, please post another question..I believe the Moderator has the website for suboxone doctors who may be in your area his/her name is Verwon...Good luck friend..Let us know how you are doing, ok?? if i take a methadone in the morning then do an oxy later will i still get high on the oxy ## Doubledizzle..How many MG's of methadone are you taking? Methadone will block any other narcotic if you are taking it for addiction, if you are taking it for pain, you are likely taking a lot smaller dose, so the methadone won't block other opiates unless you take them together, and that is just a guess on my part. When I started Methadone Maintenance, it took a long time to find my blocking dose, so if you are on it for addiction, it takes time, keep working on it with your doctor at the clinic,. If you are taking it for pain. this doesnt apply Pat ## Doubledizzle, why are you wanting to get high on oxy?? Pat

Need to no if there's a blocker in the methadone 10mg pills? ## No, at this time, there are no Methadone tablets that contain opiate blockers. The FDA classifies this medicament as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## If you are not on methadone do not start!! It's for us that are chronic pain patients and for those getting off opioids. It's a b**** to get off of. It is designed to keep you from getting dope sick which is as bad as my spinal surgery locked in a box with spiders or chronic pain.

my grandaughter has been on methadone drink for five years now and her teeth are rotting away terribly fast. Is there another way she can take this drug? ## Hello, Verlie! How are you and your granddaughter? There are other forms available, such as tablets, but that won't likely help the problem. Opiates are all well known for causing dental decay, with long-term use, because they can cause mineral loss in the body. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Has she consulted a dentist? A cleaning and sealant may help slow down the decay.

My husband and I were addicted to opiates for several years. We started on Methadone maintenance about a year ago and it has worked wonderfully. We are now ready to move on with our lives. We knew from the beginning that we were not going to be on Methadone for the rest of our lives. We are ready for traveling, babies, and life without methadone. My husband turned down an awesome job out of state to taper down correctly instead of quitting cold turkey, as the state the job was in had no methadone clinics. We both spoke to our counselors to discuss tapering off methadone. My counselor was very supportive, but, my husbands counselor is horrible and said that "he needs to come to the realization that some people stay on methadone for the rest of their lives". My husband explained t...

IT MAKES ME FEEL SICK NOT ANYTHING LIKE MALLINCKRODT METHADONE. ## Hello, Danette! How are you? There can be variations in the amount of the active ingredient when going from one generic to another, as permitted under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, so this one may have just enough of a fluctuation to cause more side effects. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you informed your doctor? They may know of some way to alleviate the nausea. ## It is not the same. It makes you feel like your wd'ing in half the time of its alternative. We've been in treatment for years and there is an uproar over this "new" bulls*** Roxane. ...

Could someone please advise me , as I have a BIG PROBLEM. I'm suffering from Central Pain SYNDROME following a severe STROKE in 2006 . I was tried on several drugs, but methadone @ 150mg daily is what I've been on for years, which totally destroyed my teeth . In November of 2015, I was told by Pain Management, that because of new federal guidelines that my MME-morphine equivalent MUST BE MUCH LOWER . They started reducing my daily level at that time .Now, 6 months later, I'm now at 20 mg, tomorrow, I go on 15 mg daily, after being on 20 for the last week. I go to the pain clinic Friday and I'm not sure what to ask for, as I need 24 hour pain relief . Could anyone with experience please Help . I'm in a bad situation, but h happy that I'm getting off of the methado...

Has federal funding for methadone decreased since the "opiodemic"? I started taking opiates in 1992 because of extreme pain in my hip which I had suffered with since 1979. The medical profession gave me NSAID's and a small script for Tylenol-3. I have since had 2 hip replacements. I am 59 yrs old. I was on and off methadone for years and have been on it steady for 10 years and stayed clean. During this time I have gone from paying $0 to what will start next month at $360.00/mo. ## Manufacturers are free to set their own prices in the U.S. according to supply and demand. Thus, it really has nothing to do with federal regulations, but more to do with market competition and capitalism. The FDA warns that Methadone carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effec...

I am from ND and in dire need of finding a doctor who can prescribe me Methadone. I have been battling drug abuse for 10+ years and have gone through many treatment facilities. I have done my research and want to move on with my life by getting on a Methadone program. PLEASE HELP! ## The problem with Methadone is that many people never truly get drug free, even after using the treatment programs. They often end up requirng a lifetime maintenance dose of it. You may be better of with Suboxone, which is fairly new, but has helped many people taper off of and completely beat their drug addiction. It contains the opiate Buprenoprhine. You can read about it here: To see if there is a doctor in your area that provides treatment with it, you can check out the website: Suboxone.com Click Here I...

I have been taking methadone for 10 days starting at 30 and ending at 60. I don't want to have to get up at 5am and drive 35min for the rest of my life, so I'd like to get back on subutex. Can anyone tell me when I can take it? I have not taken methadone for 2 days now. ## Hello, Cory! How are you? You need to be in full withdrawal, before taking Subutex, otherwise it may throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. Thus, there's no precise time frame that can be given, because it may vary from person to person. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Did your doctor provid...

For 3 years i have been on methadone, currently on 25mg. I tried to come off myself and for the first time in my life i stupidly took a delibrite overdose 6 days ago of 700mg of methadone. I ended up in hospital and they saved me with naloxone. Very stupid i know. I am going into a detox clinic next week for a year and to start with they detox you on 2 weeks of subbys. i haven't took any methadone or any drugs since saturday. It is now thursday and im not really rattling yet. Am i better to now stay off the methadone till next week? My way of thinking is that maybe the naloxone has got rid of some opiates but i have been clean for 5 days so why put more methadone into my body when it takes longer to detox and in 5 to 6 days i will be going onto a subby detox any way. Please any advi...

What is the difference between suboxone and methadone? ## The active ingredients are very different, though both are opiate based and are used to treat severe pain as well as addiction. ## Dear Comments Submitted, Verwon is right, they r both opiate based. But the methadone helps much better with pain. (Believe me) I've been on both. After almost 5 years on methadone, I had 2 go on subs. Thought i was all set tapering down from methadone. Couldn't take the withdrawals or the pain. I went from 110mg to 24mg, then, I lost it. Anyway, like I said, methadone does work better 4 pain. They r both addictive. The good thing about subs is u don't have 2 go 2 a clinic, everyday. U find a good Dr and get take homes. ## i have been on both methadone and suboxone and they are very diffre...

white oblong m on 1 side 14 & 45 on the other side ## That is correct, it does contain 10mgs of Methadone. The FDA classifies this medication as being an opiate narcotic, which is used to treat pain, as well as drug addiction. They warn that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, constipation, and headache. Is there anything I can help with? ## They are exactly are what you say they are. If I were you I would try a different medication. They are highly addictive and the withdrawal symptoms are very bad. I went thru it once and if I were to wind up on it again I would take it for the rest of my life so I wouldn’t have to go thru that again. I just heard that the government is telling some patients they can...

I have been reading all these posts and was blown away by all these people seeking methadone.ok here we go ,I was on 80 mgs going to the clinic every day for 8 years.when your in a opiate fog 8 years go by real fast. One day I did not have my weekly payment(which is all my clinic cared about, never asked how are you)so I decided to detox cold turkey from 80 mgs to nothing. Now I've quit H twice in my life but methadone, nothing can compare to the agony and despair that is methadone withdrawal. Let's start with acute withdrawal symptoms which lasted approximately 20 days bedridden, complete lack of sleep for 14 days, leg pain (worst part "kicking the habit") vomiting ,chills, sweats, basically every way you can suffer.Once you start to feel physically better then comes paws(po...

Hi, My name is Cynthia. And 3 weeks ago my doctor started me on Fluoxetine (prozac) and then 4 days I started taking methadone for my headaches and recently between the two I started itching badly, so I was wondering if It was the prozac or methadone? I looked up the side effects for prozac and one of them are itching, but so is One of the effects to the methadone! And it is my whole body not just one spot! Help me! Please/thank you so much ## Kittykat96, Although Prozac can cause localized itching methadone is notorious for causing full body itching that can become relentless. Methadone is a synthetic narcotic opiod and like traditional opiates it shares that propensity to cause itching. Contact your prescriber he may be able to adjust or eliminate one or the other . Hope that helps an...

I have been clean from methadone for 3 weeks now, after 10 days I started feeling a lot better. Withdrawals were not too bad, just weak and no energy. I was on them for 3 years and tapered down to 4mg before I completely quit. I feel pretty good id say. But was wondering if i were to take my norco prescription, will i get sick all over again? How long should I wait? Or if i take a methadone will i get sick? ## If you start taking Norco they will probably not make you sick until you stop taking them. Why are you taking the Norco if you are feeling pretty good. The one thing you will find is that your tolerance will increase much faster then when you were taking methadone along with the feeling that you have to have them just to get your day started. Even if you stop taking a opiate and w...

PLEASE HELP i HAVE A WHITE ROUND PILL WITH 319 ON IT , i WAS TOLD IT METHADONE ## Hello, Mark! How are you? According to the drug identification databases, this tablet is listed as containing 50mgs of Tramadol, which is a different opiate analgesic. The FDA lists this as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
