I have heard that prolonged used of Meloxicam 7.5 can cause liver problems...is this so? and how long is prolonged use?? I take this med for osteoarthritis and have had no difficulties with it over the past year. ## Meloxican 7.5 MG was perscribed for me as relief for bursitis. The prescription is to be taken 1 month. After reading the 'side affects list' I am afraid to take it. What is experience others have had with this med. My bhips are not really bad with pain so should I wait til the pain is more severe before taking this med? I take 7.5 mg. my hands still hurt and are swollen. 2nd day to take them. I scraped glue off a floor for several days and night and my hands and fingers are so swollen and very painful . ## Merry Christmas Joyce, Sorry to hear about the pain in your hands and fingers. Scraping glue off a floor for several days/nights sounds like it would do that to just about anyone though. But I hope you're able to find some level of relief from taking the meloxicam. Based on your description, my guess is that it may be a while before the swelling subsides. However it seems like you're using the right preventative measures w/ a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug to keep it from getting any worse. ## I am having problems when I started taking this drug,now that i am off it it has left severe back problem in which i need help out of bed every morning. ## The problem could actually be caused by your stopping the drug abruptly. Since it reduces inflammation, it might have been reducing it in an area of your spine where you have damage or swelling and then by stopping it, your body is unprepared to regulate that condition on its on, kind of a withdrawal effect, and the pain and inflammation has gotten worse. I would recommend speaking to your doctor so they can check out the problem and see exactly what is causing it.

Is it ok to take 750mgs of GABA & 7.5mgs of Meloxicam together at nite after a meal? I was diagnosed with neuropathy in my feet as well as osteoarthritis. ## I'm sorry, but I have to ask, if you mean the supplement GABA, or the medication Gabapentin? I take 15 mg Meloxicam once a day. It is helpful relieving pain for about 12 hours. Can I cut the pill in half and try taking them every 12 hours? ## Just started taking Meloxicam 3 days ago. I am taking meloxicam 7.5 for RA and I feel great, I came back to a normal life, now the doctor tells me that I can have a heart attack as a result from taking this medication, is this a possibility based on the fact that it elevates the blood pressure or the fact is that it hamrs the heart? My meloxicam is white, round, no split in middle on either side and has 100 on one side. Can I take aspirin , aleve or advil withit. I took meloxicam about 8 or more hours ago. ## Hello, Jeanette! How are you? There is a round, pale yellow/off-white tablet with the marking 100 on one side that contains 15mgs of Meloxicam. Is that what you have? And no, you shouldn't mix the other medications with it, because Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, which is exactly what Aspirin, Aleve and Advil also contain, just different ones. It will take about 20 minutes to half an hour to start entering your blood stream and have some effect, but you have to be aware that this is not a narcotic analgesic, so it isn't going to work for pain like that. This would be more equivalent to Advil and how it works. As to possible long term effects, since this is an NSAID, there is the risk of developing stomach damage, as well as liver damage. I take high BP medicine and also acid reflux medicine and low dose asprin everyday. My doctor presribed 7.5MG of Meloxicam for arthritis. I have had several mini-strokes that affects my speech and I also break out when I take aleve, is this safe to take? ## Hello, Sheryl! How are you doing? I am very sorry about your various health issues. Was it prescribed by your PCP? If so, I'd suggest not taking it, until you check with whatever other doctor you see for your strokes. It can cause blood thinning, according to the FDA, so it may be contraindicated with your other medications. It can also cause elevated blood pressure, as a side effect. It would be best to be cautious.

My doctor has prescribed Meloxicam & Xljanz. Are they safe taken together? ## Hi pinnie, According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, there are no drug interactions listed between Meloxicam and Xeljanz (tofacitinib citrate). Based off this information alone, I wouldn't have any reason to believe that you couldn't take the two together... especially since your doctor prescribed them both to you at the same time. I can't blame you though for being extra cautious, as there have been who knows how many instances where doctors mistakenly prescribe two drugs that interact with one another. Hope this helps!
