Is Lyrica Controlled Substance

Hi my mom is on 75 mg of lyrica and she can not refill her script for a few days, ny mother in law gave me an old prescription which her late husband took. they are the same 75mg Lyrica but they are 6 years old! will it hurt my mother to take these? I know that some old medications can acually poison your system. Please let me know. ## Hello, Mandi! How are you? They will no longer be effective and should you should just dispose of them. Lyrica is not a narcotic or controlled substance, so she should be able to get a refill a few days early, without a problem. Side effects to this medication may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

How long do the withdrawals last coming off Gabapentin? I've been taking 3600 mgs. per day for about two years. I have cold sweats and itching. I'm changing over to Lyrica, this is my second day. Is it going to be a problem quitting Gabapentin? I want to quiet cold turkey. I just need to know will it be a problem and how long it takes. Thanks ## Talk to your doctor. He (or she) will probably titrate your dose down fairly quickly. What do you take gabapentin for? I take 2700 mg a day for nerve pain. I have cervical spinal stenosis, but have no side effects. Lyrica is a controlled substance and is rather expensive. It's also addictive. Just do what your doctor says and you'll be Ok. ## Took me 4 weeks to withdraw from gabapentin. I am new to the Jacksonville area from NY and my NY dr prescribed my script for lyrica and percocet 10mg because he knew there would be a gap between getting new ins. coverage and finding a new rhumetologist ( as I have fibromyalgia ) I have been to too many pharmacies to count only to be told they are "out" of the medication. So now here I am trying to start a new job and new life here in Jacksonville without my medication. Please help.... I took a drug screen for rehab that went to the lab and I never took any. What would make lyrica show up in my urine? ## Same thing happened to me and it sucks. Now I get to start all over with nothing. I went to my suboxone appointment today and tested positive for Lyrica but haven't taken anything but suboxone. What would cause this? ## This is an anticonvulsant, so it is not something that is included on standard drug tests, so these results are very odd. Was there a specific reason you were both tested for it? These tests usually only look for controlled substances, going by FDA standards. What medications do you take?
