Aloha, I get my medication via the VA pharmacy in Oahu, and recently my doctor changed my Rx to be oxycodone immediate release 5mg. I always look up my medication to make sure what's on the pill is what I should be getting. I got a tiny round white pill with 223 on one side and the other side has a score line. Googling gave the answer that it is oxycodone hydrochloride 5mg, but didn't say if was or wasn't immediate release. I called the VA pharmacy and they said it is immediate release, and it's made by Golden State Pharmacuticals. However, I can't seem to find much online about this company and/or if this pill is or isn't immediate release. Thank you so much for your help! :) ## Hey, I get the same brand medication from the VA. It is Oxycodone in a regular relea...

My husband and I are having a debate...I take 80mg of oxycontin SR three times daily. Does my narcotic blood level stay at a steady 80mg or 240mg daily? ## Well, it isn't going to say at any 'steady' level, because it's always going to vary somewhat, due to activity, fluid intake, what you eat and etc. But since the doses are split you essentially always have some processing out, when you're adding more, so you'd be looking at close to the 80mgs. Learn more Oxycontin details here. Are there any other questions I can help with? ## Hi Verity, I don't know how much help this will be to your debate, but from what I could gather, the apparent elimination half-life of oxycodone following the administration of OxyContin was 4.5 hours compared to 3.2 hours for immedi...

I don't understand, if a pill is 60mg time-released, what's the problem with cutting it? If you get all the med at once you will only get 60mg right? What am I missing? ## Hi Sanaa, To my understanding, it's simply a word of caution to those who may be at risk of overdosing on something their body hasn't yet built a tolerance to (namely when it comes to pain medication, although it could pertain to any drug). Personally, I'd never advise doing so without talking to your doctor or pharmacist first, as there may be immediate-release options available in smaller doses. However, I do see your point and think that if this was a last resort option one can mitigate possible risk factors under the right conditions (i.e. having a high tolerance, etc). Of course, if you ask mo...

which is better - how do I know which one I have? ## Hello, Mickey! How are you? Which is better can depend on the person. Some people do better with the regular release that takes about 15 to 20 minutes to start working, but not everyone stays asleep with it, so they may require the sustained release. The FDA classifies this as a sedative hypnotic that is most commonly used for the short-term treatment of insomnia. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, somnolence, hallucinations, funny taste in mouth, next day hangover-like effects and sleep actions. What are the markings on the pills you have? If you can post back with this information, I can check to see which formulation they are.

Has anybody heard of M 30 oxycodone being reformulated? My mother has been on oxycodone for quite a while now and recently had an rx filled and had a few M's that almost instantly swell up and turn into mush when she takes them. They are the same diameter as the other M's but alot thicker and from what she says, they aren't as effective as the thinner M's. Any info would help, thanks. ## Hello, JOTO! I've been taking 240 Percocet 10/325 for over 10 yrs with 60 mg MS Contin twice a day for breakthrough pain. When I'm out of the blue my doctor sends me to a pain management specialist because he says he can't write for any narcotic over 120 tabs a month. Oxycodone 15mg. Imm.rel. Oxycodone 15mg. HCL 15 MG. What's the difference? The Hcl. Seems weaker to me. ## Hello, Norris! How are you? Well, there is no immediate release in this dosage, only in the regular or time released formulations. And there is no difference, they are both Oxycodone Hydrochloride, the HCL just wasn't included on the one. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
