Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and Acetaminophen is an analgesic and antipyretic, however, Vicodin contains the narcotic Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen, so they just aren't comparable. I will be having wisdom teeth pulled. I would like to know what options are availiable for non narcotic pain relief. Preferably the strongest. I will be able to get a prescription, but I would like to avoid opiates or opioids. ## Wow, that's kind of difficult, because knocking out the opiates leaves only options for minimal pain relief. My mom just had a knee replacement and is taking Hydrocodone. She is taking them every 4 hrs. The holidays are here and she has no refills, plus the doctor's office is closed.
