My son was prescribed this drug because of insomnia and anxiety. Does it work and is there something better, less side effects on the market. Thank you. ## Hello, Sher! How are you? Actually, this is one of the least risky ones that's available. Many of the other medications used for such conditions carry the risk of being habit forming. Hydroxyzine, however, is an antihistamine that has some sedative like properties. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. It works well for many people. Does anyone else have any advice to add? ## I AGREE WITH VERWOYN i have been taking for over 3 years for anxiety and it does work within 20 to 30 minutes you will be drowsy and possibly dizzy and may have cotton mouth but it does work well wi... ...

I was prescribed hydroxyzine for itching with a bad case of poison ivy. I found that helped with my mild anxiety. Is there anything similar over the counter that I can purchase for the anxiety? Thanks! ## Hello, Hearher! How are you? Unfortunately no, there is nothing as potent available over the counter. Have you tried anything else to treat the anxiety? There are quite a few non-habit forming options that your doctor can prescribe, such as Prozac. The FDA classifies it as an SSRI antidepressant and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight loss. ...

capsule like pill dark green and light green with symbol of E on it and 613 ## Is loratab simular 2 xanax?? ## A Lortab is a Narcotic Pain killer and a Xanax is in the same class as a valium. very different. ## Joy is correct on those, though it should be noted that Xanax is a benzodiazepine, so it does have the potential to be habit forming. I believe that's why many think it's a narcotic or related to one. You can learn more Xanax details here. And the original capsule asked about with the E613 marking on contains 25mgs of Hydroxyzine, which is an antihistamine that's used to treat allergic reactions, insomnia, nausea and for its sedative like effects. You can learn more Hydroxyzine details here. The side effects are usually related to that and may include drowsiness, dizz... ...

Seeing as to how this is not in the same class of prescription drug as Xanax but both are used to treat anxiety, is this just a more mild form of Xanax when talking about the effectiveness in treating anxiety?? ## Forgot to mention the pill I'm asking about is 25mg hydroxyzine ## Hello, Joe! How are you? The FDA actually classifies Hydroxyzine as an antihistamine, which is also used to treat anxiety due to its sedative like effects. However, since it's different, it doesn't tend to be habit forming like a benzodiazepine. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## In all honesty then is there anything stronger or more beneficial about the 25mg hydroxyzine rather than regular old Ben... ...

My little brother was prescribed 25 mg Hydroxcine for his sleeping disorder and I am trying to find out if there is something better to give him since the doctor is using that pills side affect to help him sleep, he has a disorder that he can't ever fall asleep on his own, he needs something to help him. ## In reality, since it's an antihistamine that can cause drowsiness as a side effect, it is likely safer than many of the other choices. Most are in the sedative/hypnotic class and tend to be habit forming and addictive. Learn more Hydroxyzine details here. Is this medication working for him? Is he having problems with it? ...
