Please i need to know for sure if gabapentin is a narcotic? I take them every day. I was prescribed them. I was told that they are and i wanna know for certain as im not wanting to take them no more. ## No they are not a narcotic. Hi I recently went to dr. to refill my gabapentine prescrip and he said I was on it too long. I was taking 600 mg bid and I have been off now since Tuesday. I was on it for fibromyalgia. I was given gabapentin after a spinal injury that resulted in severe radiating pain down my legs. Thanks to a great physical therapist, and a lot of hard work, things are better now. Not perfect. But a lot better. I took the gabapentin for two days. The first day I felt fine (all things considered)... but the gabapentin didn't seem to have any real side effects. The second day, I honestly felt like I was on narcotics or something. I could barely move off the couch and, though I have never used heroin, I am very, very familiar with prescription opioids. I've been prescribed 10mg targin with 600mg of Gabapentin , can I take a Vicodin a couple of hrs later to help relieve nerve pain ... I don't want to overdose .. ## Hello, Nina! How are you? Have 3 bulging discs in neck and the others are moderate bulging. Can't get appointment to see Neuroligist until next week. MRI was from 10 days ago. Narcotics do not help with my pain. Tried Ben Gay, bio freeze and capsaicin cream. No relief. Tried ice and heat. Does not help. I can't stand the pain anymore. Should I go to the Emergency room? Lortab contains Acetaminophen coupled with the narcotic Hydrocodone. But Neurontin contains the active ingredient Gabapentin, which is an anticonvulsant that can also help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders, so it is not an actual analgesic. I've taken gabapentin,norco, and then oxycodone. I was taken off the oxycodone recently because I was talking the max six pills a day and my pain was still unbearable. I have five bulging disc and a pinched nerve in my back. I have spinal stenosis. This has caused pain throughout my left side down to my feet. I'm also a diabetic with nerve damage. How can I find a VA doctor to prescribe oxycontin? I have chronic pain. This drug helps to relieve it, and it doesn't make me loopy. However, because there are those who abuse it, I have not been able to find a VA doctor who will prescribe it. ## I know a few veterans that go to the VA for all there primary care doctors but go to a pain management clinic because the VA is very strict on giving narcotics. They do have a pain management program at the VA but they will start you drugs like tramdol, baclofen and gabapentin and I doubt you will ever get oxycontin.
