Is prolonged menstruation a side effect of Doxytet antibiotics? I have been prescribed this tablet nearly a month ago and have to continue taking it until next hospital appointment. But my menstruation seems never ending. Please advise as this is very strange to me. ## Are you by any chance on some type of oral contraceptive....a birth control pill? Hi. I went to clinic on monday for my papsmear for the first time and during that course the nurse discovered that I have a lot of discharge, so she prescribed green doxytet capsules. As I continued to take them I noticed a few side effects: tiredness, loss of appetite, and de thick discharge in de mornings. On the 4th day I used it I couldn't sleep at night. I felt in my chest a kind of pain as if I had swallowed something hard and in the morning I couldn't swallow or even drink tea as it felt like I had inflammation till now in the afternoon. I took 3-day 500 mg Azithromycin for Acne rosacea. The total dose should be 3 day 500 mg and then skip 5 days and then take 3-day 500 mg until 4 weeks of period. but I have skin rash and itching. My doctor prescribed doxycyclin 150 mg per day. I thought Azithromycin was safer than Doxy and less sunsensitive. I'm taking doxycycline 100mg (2/day for 10 days) to prevent infection from a sting ray encounter in SW Florida's gulf waters. Potential bacterium: Staph', Strep', Vibrio. I've read that recovery from this type of injury is long, slow, and often with set backs. I thought it was looking better after first 5 days, but then the ankle (site of puncture) has gotten more swollen & a bit warm. Ultrasound revealed NO barb.
