what are the red dots for? ## Hi greg, Based on my research, the red dots are just there as a design. They are not made of any active ingredient to enhance the medication. There are some pills with blue dots as well, it's just how the manufacturer decided to design the pills for brand identification. Do you have any more questions regarding this medication? If so, please post back! ## They are chemical marker that the DEA has forced pharmaceutical manufacturers to mix in to pills for tracking drug traffic. They will be in all narcotics soon but are primarily in hydrocodone, ambient and some ADHD meds. Different regions get slightly different colors so they can trace sources to the area and even pharmacy ie. Walmart, CVS, Walgreens. This is why there have been some shortages recently...
