Which is worse to take on a daily basis--acetaminophen or aspirin? ## Hello, Pitt! How are you? Well, neither one is particularly good to take all the time on a daily basis, there are risks associated with both. Long-term use of Acetaminophen may cause liver damage and taking over 3,000mgs a day could be fatally toxic. Aspirin is an NSAID and it may cause stomach damage, liver damage, blood thinning and stomach ulceration. The best thing to do is to speak to your doctor about which one is safest for you. The FDA lists the typical side effects as also possibly including nausea, dizziness and headache. Is there anything else I can help with?

Ok, here's the deal - In the past I've taken Excedrin Migraine, which proved to be very effective at killing a bad headache. It combines Acetaminophen, Aspirin, and Caffeine in decent doses. Now I basically have a sensitivity to caffeine, and the med makes me feel pretty weird when I take it. So I'm just thinking of taking the Acetaminophen and Aspirin ingredients separately so that I can have the same kind of med without the caffeine. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any products in the stores which just have those two ingredients without caffeine being added in there. Thoughts anyone? Is there an OTC med out there that I missed which contains the ingredients I'm looking for? If not, could it be considered pretty safe to take the medications separately but ...

Codeine/paracetamol, also known as codeine/acetaminophen and co-codamol, is a compound analgesic consisting of a combination of codeine phosphate and paracetamol (acetaminophen). Co-codamol tablets are used for the relief of mild to moderate pain when paracetamol or NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, aspirin or naproxen alone do not sufficiently relieve a patient's symptoms, or where their use is ill-advised. In 2019, it was the 173rd most commonly prescribed medication in the United States, with more...

I would like to know if aspirin is in oxycodone. My husband has back pain and I have oxycodone/acetaminophen5-325 I use for arthritic pain. He is allergic to aspirin. Could he take one of these pills? ## no this is not aspirin ,it is the same as Tylenol ## Hi Betty, When post #1 mentioned "no this is not aspirin, it is the same as Tylenol", they weren't exactly clear on what "this" or "it" was supposed to be referring to. So just to reiterate, there is no Aspirin in Oxycodone. Oxycodone is quite simply Oxycodone by itself.... Oxycodone + Acetaminophen on the other hand, is a different combination med (also known as Percocet), which does not contain any Aspirin either... And to answer your question about sharing your pills with your husband, my answer would be...

Butalbital is a barbiturate with an intermediate duration of action. Ok, This tylenol-cod #4 is not very strong...I take Ibuprophen 800 mg for fibromyalgia/arthritis..Waiting for the Docs to figure that one out?? Anyway, the Doc said only one every 6 hrs....HAH...was like taking baby aspirin for a broken leg....Should I take two just to see if It could work doubled or just get a stronger Med.?? ## Interestingly enough, the dosing instructions for Tylenol-Codeine #4 state the following: "Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take more of this medication than is recommended. An overdose of acetaminophen can damage your liver or cause death. Tell your doctor if the medicine seems to stop working as well in relieving your pain." Lately there have been a lot of concerns about liver toxicity upon taking too much acetaminophen. Apparently on...

can oxycodone acetaminophen 5 325 be taken with 325 mg of aspirin? I'm having a lot of leg pain. I also have been diagnosed with superficial thrombosis, so I'm supposed to be taking aspirin every day. Also wondering if prednisone can be taken with aspirin, or should be taken at all with superficial thrombosis? The prednisone was prescribed to treat the severe leg pain I was having due to sciatica nerve issues. For some reason I think that you should avoid steroids if you have superficial blood clots, but not sure. ## Hello, Royalpain79! How are you doing? Sorry that you've been in pain. With your rather complicated medical history, you really need to check all of this out with your doctor. It would be remiss of anyone online that isn't familiar with it to try to advise y...

I suffer from Hypnic headaches and the only thing that keeps my from waking up with a headache every morning is to take an Extra Strength Excedrin which has caffeine, acetaminophen and aspirin. The aspirin bothers my stomach and I am looking for something that has the caffeine (which I was told by the neurologiswas the treatment for these headaches) but caffeine by itself would only keep me awake at night. Any suggestions. ## Hello, Bell! How are you doing? Have you tried taking something to protect your stomach from the Aspirin? A simple antacid may work, unless your doctor has given you some reason you can't take one and something such as Pepcid or Zantac shouldn't interfere with the absorption and efficacy of the medication. ## Synalgos DC, It has aspirin ,caffeine,dihydracod...

I have taken aspirin free excedrin for headaches for years,. Now that is off the market I have tried similar generic brands that do not work. I now have to take my prescription meds all the time. What can I do to help this situation????? ## Have you discussed the problem with your doctor? What prescription medications do you take? In reality, it is no better to have to take an over the counter medication, any more often than it is to take prescription medications. They all carry risks and can cause complications.

Does 15mg oxycodone have aspirin or acetaminophen in it? I'm going to have surgery tues and need to know. ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? No, there is no 15mg Oxycodone that contains any other ingredient. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. If it included another ingredient, you'd see two dosages listed, like 5/325mgs or 10/325mgs. But 10mg is the highest dosage available of the combination products. I have been taking tramadol a long time. For it to work, now I take 7 at a time (my doctor doesn't know this of course) and I thing I've been having mild seizures from it. I also have Hep C and my liver enzymes were 500 (got lab test) and my Primary doctor actually called me at home last night to tell me to see my specialist and not to take Aspirin, Tylenal, Advil. Does Tramadol contain acetaminisin or aspirin? ## No, Tramadol is exactly that, it doesn't contain any other active ingredients. Learn more Tramadol details here. But overdosing yourself is going to have a detrimental effect on your liver. You need to inform your doctor of how much you've been taking, because it's likely that more checks will need to be done for liver function. And if you've been havin...

On taking either Tylenol or Advil I become wheezy, and have rapid breathing, which lasts approximately 1 hour with Tylenol but up 4 hours with Advil. I have previously been diagnosed with Aspirin and Ibuprofen sensitivity and told not to use. However, I am now experiencing similar reactions when I take Tylenol. I need an alternative to use occasionally, for fever reduction, headache aches and pains currently associated with flu.. ## Have you tried Naproxen? It's the active ingredient in Aleve and the generic or store brands of it. Learn more Naproxen details here. I'd suggest asking if it's safe for you to try it. Alternatively, you could also look into the prescription anti-inflammatories. Have you tried any of them?

Is there a prescription formulation of butalbital and caffeine WITHOUT the acetaminophen other than Fioinal? ## Hello, John! How are you? No, I'm sorry, but there isn't. The only ones available contain either Acetaminophen or Aspirin. If you require it without either one, if you have a compounding pharmacy nearby, your doctor may be able to prescribe it and have them create it for you.
