Which is worse to take on a daily basis--acetaminophen or aspirin? ## Hello, Pitt! How are you? Well, neither one is particularly good to take all the time on a daily basis, there are risks associated with both. Long-term use of Acetaminophen may cause liver damage and taking over 3,000mgs a day could be fatally toxic. Aspirin is an NSAID and it may cause stomach damage, liver damage, blood thinning and stomach ulceration. The best thing to do is to speak to your doctor about which one is safest for you. The FDA lists the typical side effects as also possibly including nausea, dizziness and headache. Is there anything else I can help with?

Ok, here's the deal - In the past I've taken Excedrin Migraine, which proved to be very effective at killing a bad headache. It combines Acetaminophen, Aspirin, and Caffeine in decent doses. Now I basically have a sensitivity to caffeine, and the med makes me feel pretty weird when I take it. So I'm just thinking of taking the Acetaminophen and Aspirin ingredients separately so that I can have the same kind of med without the caffeine. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any products in the stores which just have those two ingredients without caffeine being added in there. Thoughts anyone? Is there an OTC med out there that I missed which contains the ingredients I'm looking for? If not, could it be considered pretty safe to take the medications separately but ...

I also have been diagnosed with superficial thrombosis, so I'm supposed to be taking aspirin every day. I suffer from Hypnic headaches and the only thing that keeps my from waking up with a headache every morning is to take an Extra Strength Excedrin which has caffeine, acetaminophen and aspirin. The aspirin bothers my stomach and I am looking for something that has the caffeine (which I was told by the neurologiswas the treatment for these headaches) but caffeine by itself would only keep me awake at night. I have taken aspirin free excedrin for headaches for years,. Now that is off the market I have tried similar generic brands that do not work. I now have to take my prescription meds all the time. What can I do to help this situation????? ## Have you discussed the problem with your doctor? What prescription medications do you take? In reality, it is no better to have to take an over the counter medication, any more often than it is to take prescription medications. They all carry risks and can cause complications.

I have been taking tramadol a long time. For it to work, now I take 7 at a time (my doctor doesn't know this of course) and I thing I've been having mild seizures from it. I also have Hep C and my liver enzymes were 500 (got lab test) and my Primary doctor actually called me at home last night to tell me to see my specialist and not to take Aspirin, Tylenal, Advil. On taking either Tylenol or Advil I become wheezy, and have rapid breathing, which lasts approximately 1 hour with Tylenol but up 4 hours with Advil. I have previously been diagnosed with Aspirin and Ibuprofen sensitivity and told not to use. However, I am now experiencing similar reactions when I take Tylenol. I need an alternative to use occasionally, for fever reduction, headache aches and pains currently associated with flu.. ## Have you tried Naproxen?
