I suffer from chronic pain/neuropathy. I am medically disabled due to the neuropathy and chronic pain. Currently I am taking A total of 400 mg of Nucynta ER daily and a total of 200 mg of the center I are daily. Initially I was taking 200 mg ER in the morning 200 mg at night and 50 mg of IR in the morning and 50 at night. Did you doctor offer you any alternative, now that these are no longer available? You can still get pills with Hydrocodone in them, but the Acetaminophen is only 325mgs. which is stronger hydroco/acetamin 5-500 or Hydroco 10-500mg? Is it the same as Vicadin? I have a large tear in my rotator cuff. I just was given the 5-500mg. They told me it was Vicadin at the doctors office. I already had a bottle mostly untouched of the 10-55 because a doctor seemed worried that it was addictive and gave me tramadol which I can't say touches the pain. ## The one with the higher amount of the Hydrocodone is stronger, since it is the narcotic and the Acetminophen just helps it to work better. My doctor just switched me to Opana IR 10 mg. I was taking Lortab 10/500, but staying misusing then because I built up a tolerance. Well these Opana's are amazing. I have never been so pain free in the twenty years suffering with chronic pain. Not to mention how awesome they make me feel in general. Bad part is the itching...keeps me awake and is unbearable. I wondered if there is something over the counter I can take to make this itching go away whereas I love Opana and definitely don't want to give them up. if the 10 mgs of hydrocodone(loracets) are the same as any other pain relievers containing 10 mgs of hydrocodone (ex: narco, loratab....) why do the 10 mg loracets seem to work twice as good as the others. ## Because the different amount of Acetaminophen plays a role, it basically enhances the effects of the narcotic, so it works better. However, they do have to limit the amount of Acetaminophen that is used, because if a person takes too much of it in a day, it can be severely toxic. This is a pretty standard dose, but considering your size, you may want to just try half a tablet at once, especially if you aren't used to taking narcotics. The Hydrocodone in this is pretty potent. I generally run between 117 and 120, but have found that since I rarely take them, even the 5/500mg dosage of this hits me very hard and I can only handle half of a tablet at once. These are time released, so you can cut or break them, safely. Unless you already have a tolerance to narcotics, then I'd really think it best to start small and see how it affects you.
