Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS, or spastic colon) is a symptom-based diagnosis characterized by chronic abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating, and alteration of bowel habits. As a functional bowel disorder, IBS has no known organic cause.[1] Diarrhea or constipation may predominate, or they may alternate (classified as IBS-D, IBS-C or IBS-A, respectively). Historically a diagnosis of exclusion, a diagnosis of IBS can now be made on the basis of symptoms alone, in the absence of alarm features s...

I am suffering from gas and loose motions. Can sazo 500 be used for irritable bowel syndrome? ## It might help, but should only be taken if your doctor has instructed you to do so. Does anyone know how to make safe parasitic worms to treat these? I need details - i know it requires a pig? {edited for privacy} - Please do not lecture me about the legality and dangers. I just need honest scientific advice on how to grow these, clean and sterile.... Thanks a lot for your help - Sally ## Hi Sally, The concept of using parasites to treat IBS and Crohns is new to me and I'm curious as to where/how you first came to know about this type of treatment modality? I will say that in my honest opinion, nothing about using parasites (especially from swine) sounds safe at all. It actually makes more sense to me to supplement with probiotics and digestive enzymes that are notoriously known to be beneficial for your gut instead of something that's not (i.e. parasites). And...

My doctor diagnosed me with IBS, but I don't have diarrhea or constipation; just pain on the upper right side of the rib cage. I'm on Hystomine and the pain is still there. How long does it take for complete relief? ## Hello, Sandra! How are you doing? Has there been any change? It can take 4 to 6 weeks for most medications to reach their full level of efficacy in your body, according to the FDA. Unfortunately, I am not quite certain what medication you are talking about, so I can't be more specific. Can you please post back and clarify? I can't find anything under the name you've provided. What you eat and drink can also affect IBS, so you may want to make sure you're eating a mild diet. ## To Vernon, on the subject of IBS the medicine that I am taking is Hyoscy...

Uses in treating irritable bowel syndrome ## "Experimental studies have shown that otilonium bromide (OB) inhibits both baseline and chemically or physically stimulated gastrointestinal motility. The spasmolytic activity of OB in the gastrointestinal tract occurs at doses that do not affect gastric secretion or produce typical atropine-like side-effects. The mechanism of action is composite: interference with calcium ion movement from intra- and extracellular sites; blockade of calcium channels; and binding to muscarinic receptors and tachykinin neurokinin-2 receptors. Pharmacokinetic studies have shown that OB accumulates in the lower intestine and has poor systemic absorption. Clinical studies have confirmed OB as a potent spasmolytic drug with a good tolerability profile. Studies...

I have irritable bowel syndrome and end up with distended, miserable abdomen and the inability to go to the toilet at all. The first time I had this, I was living in France, diagnosed and treated with Debridat (Trimebutine) and Movicol (a stool softener). I was so happy to get rid of this miserable problem. Several times in the years I lived in Paris, I had to take this medicine, but always with excellent effect. Eventually, the maximum dose of Debridat per day (6 pills per day) had stopped being effective. Then, I discovered "graines de lin" made by Arkopharma, which you can buy in the pharmacy. That often works for irritable bowel-especially constipation prone, which was my case. For years, I used those little individually wrapped sachets 2 or 3 times a day with extraordinary ...

I began taking remeron for IBS (irritable bowel syndrome. 7.5 mg x 2 per day. Noticed my heart began racing. Called doc asked if this was a side affect. He said don't worry your body is just getting used to remeron. It will adjust itself. That night woke up with terrifying hallucinations. Fell down two flights of stairs. Broke arm trying to get out by breaking a window. Bruises all over my body from falling down the steps. Back injured as well as neck. My nuts and thighs and both legs had huge black and blue marks. It's been a little over a week. Still in alot of pain. Still can't walk much without a lot but am slowly feeling less pain. Doc says I should be okay within a month. Remeron can be very dangerous. Doctor prescribed trepeline for treatment of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) about 5 years ago as its supposed to slow down my stomach digestion process. Im not too convinced, are there any natural medicines I can take instead of trepeline? Reduced dosage down to 10mg and only take 1 in a 3 day cycle, I have trouble sleeping if I stay off it for longer than 3 days... Stomach starts running too. ## Hello, Deepguy! How are you? Yes, if you stop it without doing a very slow taper, you will experience some withdrawal effects, such as what you've described. The difference between it and the natural stuff is that this medication is actually proven to work. The natural substances aren't, so of course your doctor is going to want you to take something that has been proven to have the des...

I have potassium level of 3.3 and was prescribed Pot Chlor Er(Klor-Con M20)Tb 20Meq but I have Irritable bowel syndrome and Gerd's and the medicine appears to be irritative to the stomach and esophagus. In addition I cannot swallow such a big thick pill. Is there a substitute which is liquid or powder? ## There are other potassium supplements available over the counter, but to be equivalent to this, you'd have to take a lot of them and the risk of them being irritating to your gastric system will still be there. That can actually be mitigated by making sure to take it with food, rather than on an empty stomach and will a full glass of water. However, if you really can't swallow it, then check with your doctor, they may have some other idea that could help. Are there any othe...

The active ingredient in morease tablets is mebeverine hydrochloride and is used for conditions like irritable bowel syndrome and spasm of the gut muscle. Mebeverine hydrochloride helps to relieve the painful muscle spasm by causing the muscles in the gut to relax. The tablets should be swallowed (not chewed) 20 minutes before the meals. If you are a patient with irritable bowel syndrome then this tablet would help to keep a food and lifestyle diary which will help to monitor your activity and symptoms. Like many medications morease can also cause certain side effects like inflamed skin, redness, itchiness and rash. This common side effect affects less than 1 person out of 10. Any signs or symptoms that you are allergic to the medication should be brought in notice of your specialist to...
