I take 100mg of the above Metformin 1 time a day with the evening meal. Sometimes the next morning I will notice the undesolved tablest in my stool, especially when I have diarrhea. What can I do to make sure my medication is disolving and taking effect. ## Hello, John! How are you? What you are seeing in your stool is just the outer shell, however, the medication is released and used by your body. Metformin actually tends to have a horrible odor, so some manufacturers use a special outer shell/coating, to prevent people from smelling it. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach pain, flatulence and hypoglycemia. Is there anything else I can help with?

I opened the 3rd bottle and noted the pills are a little smaller and instead of IP 178 on the pill...it has 101 imprinted on one side and the other side is blank. What did they give me. Is it metformin 500 Er or a mistake? ## Hello, Diane! How are you? I can't find anything in the databases with this marking. Can you please double check and post back? Is a round white pill with a "D" and a "12" indicate a 500 mg Metformin? ## Hello, Douglas! How are you? I believe the marking you're looking at is actually an A 12, the A is rounded and does look like a D if you hold the pill sideways. And yes, it is manufactured by Aurobindo Pharma and they list it as containing 500mgs of Metformin. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, flatulence, stomach pain and hypoglycemia. I take Metformin 500 mg twice a day.Recently I have noticed that the pills are in my stool not digested.I have noticed my glucoses are not stable. What could be causing this and does anyone else experience this. ## Hello, Linda! How are you doing? Are there any markings on the tablets that you're taking? Are they by chance time released ones? If so, then what you are seeing in your stool is just the outer shell. It isn't intended to be digested, but the medication is released and used by your body. The FDA lists this as an oral antidiabetic medication and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, flatulence, stomach pain and hypoglycemia. What have your numbers been? ## The writing on my 500 mg. tablets is IP 178 are these the time released ones?
