However, these pills you have marked "IP 272" are regarded as "double-strength tablets". For most infections, I found that the dosing schedule was one double strength tablet (800mg/160mg) every 12 hours for roughly 7-10 days; so if you feel like you're taking too much, I would suggest contacting your doctor about this concern. can you give to pigs for antobiotics for wounds ## Hi Lisa, IP 272 is reportedly identified as Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim DS (800mg/160mg). From what I could gather, this antibiotic is not FDA-approved for veterinary use. However I have read about several cases of veterinarians still prescribing Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim DS for cats and dogs... Pigs on the other hand, I have no idea. But what I would recommend doing is disclosing all of your animal's medication history to the veterinarian in order to better determine whether Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim is the most appropriate form of treatment.
