My friends daughter was just put on this drug when she had a psychotic break and was hospitalized. My friend said they have identified her daughter as a schizephrenic (sp) ## Invega is a name brand for Paliperidone. It is an antipsychotic medication. ## Thanks Vernon for your response. What does that mean though? Anti-psychotic, what types of patients is it prescribed for usually, is it for Schzophrenics or what. She had been on lots of medications for 20 yrs., and then the last one was Thorazine, they took her off that and have her on this Invega. Do you have anything else to add? MW ## It's wrong to say that invega is anti-psychotic medication. It is not! and that's why several people committed suicide. People who had only a psychotic break and took invega experienced the hell...

Hi, I took Invega tablets usually 12mg and sometimes 15mg for a total of about 6 months and I was wondering how long it would take to get out of my system completely and if there was any way I could get it out faster? Maybe there's something the doctor can prescribe that would help get it out faster. I'm a bipolar schizoaffective and I just have a lot of mind racing and manic and depressed episodes but when I took this pill and it built up about a month later I nearly committed suicide. I've talked to my doctor and he's decided to take me off the pill and just keep me on mood stabilizers. If anyone knows how long it should take to get this out of my system and if there's any way to get it out faster please let me know. Thanks. ## Hello, Eric! How are you doing? I...

Well when I was first introduced into invega I had just finished a season of work in a different province and I had moved into an apartment with a roommate who I thought was a friend. Literally as soon I entered that apartment I started hearing voices. (i will say this though. I was claiming unemployment from a relatives address) anyways I move in this apartment and I hear myself being called a confident prick and that there has been a breech. Ironically my roommate was an initiate free mason and as the story goes.. I one day noticed my wallet was missing. I distinctively remember putting it on a stand in the living room and then later falling asleep. (also I was sleeping on an air mattress and not on the lease hehe.) so I wake up and notice my wallet is gone. My apparent roommate whom ...

I took invega once 2 months ago. Now it's thinning the back of my hair. Will it ever restore again? Thank you. ## Hello, Fitsum! How are you? If you've not taken it for two months and only took it once, they it wouldn't be causing side effects, such as hair thinning, now. The FDA lists its typical ones as possibly including nausea, dizziness, somnolence, acid stomach and weight gain. Are you on any other medications?

I have been taking invega 3mg for about a year, and have started feeling like my heart is fluttering. I also got to the point where I felt like doing absolutely nothing, and gained 16 lbs. So I stopped taking it. I am feeling more like myself, but am having some anxiety. I also take 1mg xanax er twice a day, and that does help. I'm also on wellbutrin and lamictal. I don't know why my pdoc put me on it. I hate that it is going to take so long to get this drug out of my system. But I believe that it will be worth it in the long run. ## Hello, Monica! How are you feeling? Have things gotten any better, yet? Invega is most commonly used to treat schizophrenia, but it may also be useful for other mental health issues, as well, since it is an antipsychotic. The issues you've liste...

I have been using invega 9 mg tablet and I suffered from horrible side effects of this medicine like some mentioned being like a Zambia. All I can say about invega that it is good medicine only if taken exactly as it should be. You don't have to follow your doctor prescription if you suffer from side effects try to take half of the prescribed. Best luck to all I just wanted to clarify that I used to take Invega because I used to be amphetamine addicted and the more I used it in time I started hearing voices until it got so bad and I thank God for that; I heard voices calling me stupid all the time from the moment I wake up until I fall asleep which was so hard but I had to drink till I passed out. Then I seriously got fed up and I decided no more drugs and started taking Invega for ...

I have gained ten pounds on this medicine. Is there any other drug like this that will not cause weight gain? I was out of medicine for 4 days and was very anxious and angry.any advice? I want off this stuff. I already take klonipin and lamictal. The dr has me on 3mg of invega and now she suggest risperdol. I have no clue what to try next. ## Hello, Racheal! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Unfortunately no, weight gain is a normal side effect of almost all psychotropic medications. Others, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dry mouth, somnolence and headache. The only thing you can really do is eat healthy and get plenty of exercise to try to mitigate this effect. Does anyone else have any ideas or advice?

I was given two shots of invega sustenna, the 234mg loading dose and then the 154mg starting does and it as been the most horrible experience of my life. I curse the doctors who prescribed me this horrible drug. I wake up at least three times per night, I can't focus on anything. I also suffer from severe anedonia and restlessness and have trouble verbalizing my speech when I try and talk, that is the most frustrating thing that I have experienced. I have done some research and many of the people's comments I read said it would take anywhere from 6 months to a year to get the drug out of your system. I pray it is not that long. If anyone has successfully gotten off this drug sooner please email me {edited for privacy} I really need to hear a successful story of someone coming of...

This is my story: I've been taking Invega since 2013. I read dozens of pages on the Internet and they say it causes weight gain. I read everything on the papers they had in the medication box when I bought it and it says it causes weight gain. I asked many pharmacists and they say it causes weight gain. I asked more than 15 patients that take medication (same or other) and they say it causes weight gain. I asked friends or other people that know or not know about it and they say it causes weight gain. And ALL ALL ALL ALL psychiatrists say it does NOT! Filthy LIARS! I gained 43 kilos in less than 3 months. I was 68 kilos and now I am 111 kg. Every month I lose 1 or 2 kilos and gain them again. My skin has got stretch marks for more than one year in my belly, in my central body Everyw...

In April 2020 I was put on a community treatment order depot shot of Invega every 4 weeks for roughly 6 months after a month long episode/hospitalisation of drug induced psychosis. I suffered from EXTREME depression, anhedonia, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, inability to function or stand up for long periods of time. After roughly 6/7 months of being OFF the medication I am starting to return to my old self, feeling much more optimistic about life and find myself laughing again (still have the inability to fully cry) but it’s no where near as bad as it once was. This medication is toxic and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone, but if you are someone who has been experiencing ill effects, just know that it IS possible to get better. I promised myself if I ever got out of the hell I w...

Hi, I was given Invega Sustenna at 100mg a month for 10 months since Dec 5th. My last shot was on August 29th 2013. The medication gave me severe anhedonia and I have lost the motivation and willpower to do anything. I can no longer experience joy, happiness, or pleasure from anything I do and I have no interest in doing anything. I constantly feel restless and uneasy and I just can't shake this feeling away no matter what. All of these started about a week after my first IV. I have been off this medication for almost 3 months now and I have yet to feel any improvements. I have read that it has a long half life of 25-49 days and that it can stay in your body for 300 days. So does that mean I will have to wait a year to start feeling better? Any info on someone who has been off this ...

It's almost 4 months without the medication and I sleep 1 hour. Please help. ## Sorry to hear about your insomnia and other issues after stopping Invega. I didn't see it specifically mentioned in the consumer drug information from Medline Plus. Is Invega Sustenza related to Risperdal? I "heard the patent was running out on risperdal and Invega Sustenza is taking its place". ..Is thiere any truth to this? ## Risperdal contains the active ingredient Risperidone. Learn more Risperdal details here. Invega contains the active ingredient Paliperidone. Learn more Invega details here.
