Invega Weight Gain

I have gained ten pounds on this medicine. Is there any other drug like this that will not cause weight gain? I was out of medicine for 4 days and was very anxious and angry.any advice? I want off this stuff. I already take klonipin and lamictal. The dr has me on 3mg of invega and now she suggest risperdol. I have no clue what to try next. ## Hello, Racheal! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Unfortunately no, weight gain is a normal side effect of almost all psychotropic medications. Others, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dry mouth, somnolence and headache. The only thing you can really do is eat healthy and get plenty of exercise to try to mitigate this effect. Does anyone else have any ideas or advice?

This is my story: I've been taking Invega since 2013. I read dozens of pages on the Internet and they say it causes weight gain. I read everything on the papers they had in the medication box when I bought it and it says it causes weight gain. I asked many pharmacists and they say it causes weight gain. I asked more than 15 patients that take medication (same or other) and they say it causes weight gain. I asked friends or other people that know or not know about it and they say it causes weight gain. And ALL ALL ALL ALL psychiatrists say it does NOT! Filthy LIARS! I took invega once 2 months ago. Now it's thinning the back of my hair. Will it ever restore again? Thank you. ## Hello, Fitsum! How are you? If you've not taken it for two months and only took it once, they it wouldn't be causing side effects, such as hair thinning, now. The FDA lists its typical ones as possibly including nausea, dizziness, somnolence, acid stomach and weight gain. Are you on any other medications?

Can it be dangerous to take Invega Sustenna? Are the risks worth the benefits of this medication? ## as far as I know, 4.5% in comparison to 2.6 % on placebo died, but not sure if those were only elderly patients or not. when I asked about weight gain, lots of medicines said taht weight gain is 10 %, unfortunately I have always been in those 10%. So now the risk is 5%, according to my experience the risk to die would be 50/50 then, that is in fact a high risk and I would prefer 5% 5/100, but I have a hard time believing in the statistics given my experiences. I have been taking Invega in pill form. I started at 3mg. 3 months ago. Recently this was upped to 6 and now am taking 9 and finding this very difficult (I hate the way I feel on this drug even if it is treating symptoms) because of the side effects. I know that all these drugs have a plethora of side effects and I hate all of them. But with Invega, will the side effects lessen? How long before I tolerate them or experience less of their misery? Also I am gaining weight and freaking out about my continual weight gain over the last two years. My Pdoc plans to increase the dosage even more; he says the increase will make it easier for me to tolerate the inj. I have gained more than 40 pounds along with misrable side effects no energy or motivation on invega ## Hello, Chrissy! How are you? Those are typical side effects for antipsychotic medications, the FDA also lists that you may experience nausea, somnolence, sedation and dry mouth. Have you consulted your doctor? You may do better with a lower dose or on a different medication. ## Same here!!!! Weight gain and ZERO drive or motivation to do ANYTHING. I must say my dellusions are GONE but it comes with a price.
