I have copd and have developed bronchitis over the last week or so. I am allergic to penicillin. My doctor believes the bronchitis is bacterial and has prescribed a medication that the prescription insert says "May cause serious lung problems. Tell your doctor if you develop a cough, shortness of breath, or chest pain" all of which I have with copd and bronchitis. He also prescribed 5 days of prednisone and a pro air inhaler. What would be the best antibiotic given this information. (The medication is sulfameth/trimethoprim 800160mg TB.) ## There are risks associated with all medications and that warning is usually included with most antibiotics, due to the possibility of hypersensitivity reactions, thus, I really don't know what I could suggest that might be safer for you. ......

Never had a problem with antibiotics. This one gave me cdif. I am still trying to get rid of cdif after six weeks and two more rounds of flagyl. ## I am not sure what cdif is. My daughters grandmother had taken omnicf - for a sinus infection... after taking this she has lost her sense of smell.
