Suboxone / Methadone

What is the difference between suboxone and methadone? ## The active ingredients are very different, though both are opiate based and are used to treat severe pain as well as addiction. ## Dear Comments Submitted, Verwon is right, they r both opiate based. But the methadone helps much better with pain. (Believe me) I've been on both. After almost 5 years on methadone, I had 2 go on subs. Thought i was all set tapering down from methadone. Couldn't take the withdrawals or the pain. I went from 110mg to 24mg, then, I lost it. Anyway, like I said, methadone does work better 4 pain. They r both addictive. The good thing about subs is u don't have 2 go 2 a clinic, everyday. U find a good Dr and get take homes. ## i have been on both methadone and suboxone and they are very diffre... ...

methadone and addium

I'm on 108 mgs of methadone and 3mg's a day of klonapin. I want to start to take addium but don't know if they will mix without any side affects. ## From what I could gather, Addium reportedly contains the following set of ingredients: Caffeine GABA Bacopa Monnieri Alpha GPC L-Theanine Phosphatidylserine L-Tyrosine Vinpocetine Huperzine A According to, there ARE drug interactions between Caffeine and Klonopin, stating that Caffeine may inhibit the effects of Klonopin, causing it to not work as well. They also go on to note that taking Klonopin with Methadone can result in serious side effects, such as dizziness, confusion, lack of coordination, excessive tiredness, etc. Outside of that, Phosphatidylserine + L-Tyrosine do not list any interactions with Methadone or Kl... ...

Liquid methadone 100 mg
1 Reply RSS
This my first time taking liquid methadone. The one I got is kinda like a mint green color. People I know who the methadone said they never seen it in this color, only like a cherry red or orange. I would just like Ike to know if the stuff I got is real??? Can anyone help me out here I would really appreciate it thanks ## Hi Dee, If you got your prescription filled at a licensed pharmacy then there really shouldn't be any reason to worry about the color. However if this had happened to me I'd probably contact the pharmacy where I got it filled at and verify that the drug and dosage are correct. My guess is that the manufacturer might've changed certain inactive ingredients, which they aren't necessarily required to announce to the purchasing public prior to making any al... ...

Suboxone Op 80 Methadone
2 Replies RSS
I have been taking 40mg methadone everyday for almost a year now and I really would like to switch to suboxone. I know you can't take suboxone until you've had atleast 48hrs from your last dose of methadone, so yesterday and today I've taken an op 80 instead. My question is will I be able to take a suboxone tomorrow and not go into immediate w/d since it will be over 48 from last methadone dose? Or Should I be taking something else instead of op 80s to make the switch? Thank you in advance for any advice! ## Actually, you have to be in full withdrawal, from everything, before you can take Suboxone, so that means you can't be taking the Oxycontin, either. Suboxone actually contains 2 active ingredients, the narcotic Buprenorphine, coupled with Naloxone to prevent the abus... ...

What does 100mgs look like when you pour it in a bottle before water? ## Hi Amber, "Methadose" liquid oral concentrate with a national drug code of "0406-0527" comes in a red cherry flavor and is available in 1000mL bottles. Each serving reportedly contains 10 mg per mL, so if you have 100 mgs that would be 10mL worth of fluid. However there are photographs on google images displaying Methadose in a clear cup. Just type in "liquid methadone pictures". Below is also a list of the inactive ingredients, so you know it's not just Methadone by itself that's being poured into the bottle: Anhydrous Citric Acid FD & C Red No. 40 D & C Red No. 33 Methylparben Poloxamer 407 Propylene Glycol Propylparaben Water Trisodium Citrate Dihydrate Sucrose I hope this... ...

Does Voltaren contain gabapentin? My bottle says 50 Gm NP Gel. It says under it Diclofenac NA+Dextromethorphan+Gabapentin+Amitriptylyne+Nifedipine: 4 percent. So would this be considered Voltaren Gel and does this mean it contains all of those drugs? Would it be safe to take with Ibprophen, Methadone, and Oxycodone if prescribed together? I can't each my doctor. ## Hello, Bella! How are you? What you've described with that list of ingredients is a special compounded product that you're doctor has ordered for you. These are usually used topically and ordered according to your doctor's experience of what has worked for other patients. So yes, it does contain those medications and the FDA lists the most common side effects as being related to its topical use, so they may in... ...

Does pain killers help Methadone withdraws
4 Replies RSS
I have been taking Methadone for two years, but i want to get off of this medication and start taking Suboxone. Can I take Suboxone a day after I took my methadone? If not, can I take pain killers to help with the methadone withdraws until I start taking the suboxone? ## No, in order to start Suboxone, whether for drug addiction, or for pain, you have to be in full active withdrawal from all other narcotics. Suboxone contains the active ingredients Buprenorphine and Naloxone. The Naloxone helps neutralize other opiates to prevent their abuse, when someone is using it for addiction treatment. If you take it too close to the time period you are taking other narcotic analgesics, it can throw you into dangerous withdrawals. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I missed my clinic today... ...

does the acend methadones work as well roxanes

I have been on the 10 mgs roxane methadones, 70 mgs daily, for 6 yrs for pain management. I've tried the mallinckrodt but they didn't work as well on me, and several others I know taking methadones for pain. My pharmacy and all the local pharmacies have now quit carrying roxanes and just have the malli's and Acends. I've heard terrible things about the Acends like withdrawals and not working at all. Ive done a lot of research and learned The Roxane Methadones have a distinct taste and disolve super fast but the Malli's are harder to disolve and even though they have the same ingredients they have sand in its inactive ingredient, roxanes don't. The acends seem to have the exact same product insert as the roxane's so I can't determine if they're truely ... ...

Can I take methadone, hydromophrine and calmylin ace syrup together
1 Reply RSS
I take these for chronic back pain and I have a bad cough so doc gave me this cough syrup but it was new clinic n didn't ask what else I was on and I'm so sick it slipped my mind as well ## Well that would be adding another narcotic to the mix, since Codeine is one of the ingredients. As I'm sure you're aware, they can all cause depression of the central nervous system, so they more you take, the more risky it gets. Symptoms of dangerous CNS depression may include extreme drowsiness, shallow breathing, lowered heart rate, dizziness and somnolence. Learn more Codeine details here. How tolerant are you to opiates? It would likely be best to check with your doctor or pharmacist, before adding another, just for your own safety. ...

are they the same
1 Reply RSS
Was addicted to opiates for years, took suboxones, a lil @ a time, now on 10mg of methadone, are they the same? ## Hello, Lucky1! How are you? No, they are not the same. Methadone is exactly that, it contains no other active ingredients. Suboxone, however, contains Buprenorphine coupled with Naloxone to prevent the abuse of other opiates, while someone is under treatment with it. The FDA classifies both as narcotic opiates that are most commonly used to treat drug addiction. They carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, drowsiness and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ...

inaccurate info on darvocet

I was told some time ago that DN100 had methadone in it, no info on that. my doc is afraid to give me pain meds so gives me this which really doesn't work but is full of aceto and i have bad liver disease. i don't know where to go from here. ## Darvocet contains the active ingredients Propoxyphene and Acetaminophen, if you picked up the prescription from a pharmacy, it should have listed this on the bottle and the patient advisory leaflet that you are given with all prescriptions. The Propoxyphene is a very mild narcotic, so it does not help with severe forms of pain. With the liver disease, it is generally not recommended that you use Acetaminophen or NSAIDs and your doctor should know this. If he prescribed this anyway, then I would suggest finding a new doctor. There are many... ...

Is much better for your teeth than methadone. It's exactly the same thing minus the extra sugar. ## It's actually just another brand name for Methadone, so in and of itself, it's not better for your teeth than Methadone, because all narcotics can leech the minerals from your body and cause dry mouth. In this case the only differences would be the inactive ingredients, so there may be less sweeteners, but everything else would still apply. Are there any other questions or comments? ...

I am trying to find out what pharmacy has methadone asc116. My doctor told me to try a different brand then my normal one to see if it helps with effects do to inactive ingredients.but I don't know how to find a pharmacy that uses that one ## Hello, Survivor! How are you? The only thing you can do is go to various pharmacies, with your prescription in hand, and ask them. There is no listing of which pharmacy carries a medication from any given manufacturer that I can refer to for you. There are several generics available, so you may find a few to chose from to try. The one with the ASC 116 marking is manufactured by Ascend Laboratories, knowing that may also help. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects,... ...

The methadones have strong after life so would I have to wait longer than 24 hrs to take suboxane? If I longer than 24 hrs to take suboxane? If I can do the transaction? ## You have to be in full withdrawal from all other narcotic/opiates, before you can start taking Suboxone.
