Anything common at all between these 2 drugs? ## No, Tramacet contains the active ingredients Tramadol and Paracetamol, while the sole active ingredient in the other is Morphine. For months I have been taking MSER 100mg, and the shape is oblong, color is light blue and 100 is on one side and E658 on the other side. These pills have been working great. My last refill of MSER, the pills were different. they are round, either light brown or gray, 100 on one side and either a M or a W with a square around the letter. These are not effective at all. Has my pharmacy made a mistake? Can you tell me what company manufacture's each of these pills ?and can you tell me what the different ingredients are between the two? There has to be a reason why one would work so good and one seems like a sugar pill. There can be slight fluctuations in generic medications and the inactive ingredients can be completely different, so you may be sensitive to any change in the dosage, or to an inactive filler of some type. I take care of a woman on Hospice and she takes liquid morphine. When I first opened the bottle it was a light blue color, now after a month it has changed to a clear color. Is this possible or normal? Or is someone tampering with it? How can I tell? ## Hi Rita, I don't think morphine is naturally blue, so it seems to me like a dye or food coloring could've been used as a part of the inactive ingredients. A few things I'd be curious to know about: - Is there any "settlement" at the bottom of the bottle if you were to shake it up? - Was the bottle was stored properly, and if not, could sunlight or heat alter its physical properties? - And lastly, does the woman you take care have anything to say about the color change or the medication not working as well as it should...

Can you help me understand what i was given? ## Hi Patty, The color of a medication doesn't usually have anything to do with its formulation. This one could possibly be from a different manufacturer, or flavored. As long as it contains the same amount of ingredients as the last one you had, you should be just fine. I have been sucessfully taking morphine sulfate ER 60mg manufactured by Mallinckrodt for chronic pain for awhile. I prefer it to other generics (Endo, for example). The pharmacy I've been going to has been kind enough to special order it for me but say that they can't continue to do so due to corporate restrictions with pharmaceutical distributors. As I mentioned, I prefer Mallinckrodt to other manufacturers of generic morphine sulfate ER. While I realize the main ingredients are exactly the same, other ingredients such as fillers and time release methods do vary quite a bit. I have been having quite a bit of difficulty finding pharmacies who carry Mallinckrodt MS ER 60mg at a reasonable price (that seems to vary widely, too). I'm taking 15mg of morphine and my doctor wants to give me percocet due to a recent diagnosis, so I'm kinda wondering if the medication I have now is better or is it about the same? ## Hi Shelly, According to nih.gov, Oxycodone (one of the main active ingredients in Percocet) is said to be approximately 1.5x stronger than Morphine. If this holds true and I did the math correctly, then 7.5mg of Oxycodone would be equal to about 11.25mg of Morphine (7.5 x 1.5 =11.25); and 10mg of Oxycodone would be equal to about 15mg of Morphine (10 x 1.5 =15). The addition of Acetaminophen in Percocet would probably top the 15mg of Morphine if you were prescribed the 10/325 dosage form. I hope this makes sense!?
