my son is 7 months old and had cold. shall i give zyrcold syr. to him ## Unless the medication specifically states that you can give it to an infant, I would highly recommend taking him to a nurse or urgent care instead of just giving him some pills. They can better evaluate an easy long term solution in person, as no one over the internet can possibly know his medical history (if any) or how this medication affects him at that age, as well as the benefits or disadvantages that it provides him.

Hi, I'm looking for a substitute of Wikoryl Syrup, with following composition in USA: Cetrizine/cpm Phenylephrine Paracetamol Please help !! Thank you, Nikunj ## Hi Nikunj, I did some research and unfortunately I'm not finding any cough/allergy medications like Wikoryl in the U.S. that contain Cetirizine, Phenlyephrine, and paracetamol. There are allergy medications such as Zyrtec that contain Cetirizine and other cough medications that contains Phenylephrine and Paracetamol- However I've read that it isn't safe to mix an anti-allergen like Cetirizine with cough/cold medications. The only thing I can think to recommend is Robitussin Allergy and cough syrup which contains: Brompheniramine maleate (2 mg), Dextrmethorphan (10 mg), and Psuedoephedrine (30 mg). This syrup is ...

Child specialist has prescribed ofloxacin syrup to my 8 month old grandchild 4ml twice a day for a cough & cold. When his mother had given the medicine to the baby, he tried to cough / vomit. Is the ofloxacin is safe for the baby? The taste of the syrup is not good. Please advise. ## As listed by the U.S. FDA, nausea and vomiting can be normal side effects of this medication, it could also cause dizziness, headache and non-allergic skin rash. Have you tried mixing it with juice or apple sauce? It is best to stay away from using dairy products, but unless the doctor states otherwise, it usually okay to mix it with fruits, jello or juices to make it more palatable. ## My 8 month old girl weighs 9kg, has a fever and doctors prescribed ofloxacin 6.5ml 4 times a day. That ofloxacin conta...

Dimetapp Decongestant Plus Cough Infant Drops Dextromethorphan + Pseudoephedrine

Dimetapp is an American brand of over-the-counter cold and allergy medicines that is manufactured by Foundation Consumer Brands. At one point, Dimetapp as a household word referred to a single combination preparation marketed to relieve symptoms of the cold, containing brompheniramine (an antihistamine) and phenylephrine (decongestant replacing the formerly used pseudoephedrine, which itself replaced phenylpropanolamine). Variants were created, including Dimetapp DM with the addition of dext...

My baby has d cold his eyes is red and teary and makes mucus ## If the mucous is discolored, then your infant may have a sinus or respiratory infection, which will require an antibiotic from his doctor. The FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Have you contacted his doctor, yet?

cough medication with ivy leaf extract ## can i give prospan to my 3 month old baby? ## Giving any cough and cold medication to an infant under 2 years of age is not recommended, the FDA just issued a warning on this. They have not been proven safe or effective in infants. ## The FDA are mostly referring to drug based pharmaceutical agents. Prospan an Ivy Leaf based cough formula was developed by German reseachers over ten years ago and the safety data strongly indicates it is safe for all ages. I would give it to an under two year old, as long as the cough has been checked by a doctor to be nothing sinister. Yay for mother nature.

Hi I'm suffering from siviour cold my doctor referred sporidex tab. Is it safe for my 4 months old baby...? ## This medication is an antibiotic and will not do anything to treat a cold, since they are caused by a virus. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. But no, it isn't listed as being known to cause a danger for nursing infants. Is there anything else I can help with?
