will ciproloxacin hcl help impetigo ## Hi Joanne, Although I'm not sure if it's considered to be a first-line treatment option, Ciprofloxacin is in fact listed among the oral antibiotics that are usually prescribed for treatment of impetigo. So in my opinion it would be a feasible choice to get the job done. I am an adult woman who suffers from a bout of impetigo. If you don't know what impetigo is please look it up. I don't get it all the time. I'll get it about once every three years. But it lingers for months. And it spreads quickly. It usually starts at the corner of my nose and makes it way clockwise to my chin then back at the other corner. It's a horrible, scaly, puss filled rash. If u scratch it too bad you spread it. It's normally found in children. Maybe I carry a strain. I don't know. Anyway, I've been prescribed so many antibiotics and antibiotic ointments. None seem to work well. It seems like me leaving it alone works better for me. But this summer I got the darn rash again. It's a bit embarrassing. The girls are always trying to clean my face f...

Hey, I was prescribed Doxycycline to treat Impetigo. That worked a little, then I was prescribed 300mg of Clindamycin. My question is will this knock out the skin rashes and fluid filled scabs? ## If it has been prescribed for you, the only thing you can do is try it and see. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Have you taken it? If so, was there any improvement?

My daughter was prescribed clindamycin for impetigo for 10 day/2pills/3 times daily. The pharmacy we have in our town doesn't provide the information sheets with prescriptions so I often times look up the meds myself. I read that when giving this medicine to children organ system function monitoring is desirable. Is that for long term usage or something I should push with my doctor now? Thanks. ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? First, if the pharmacy isn't giving you the information sheets, then they are not dispensing prescriptions properly. They are required to at least offer them to you, with every prescription. That can be reported to your state pharmacy board and they will made to correct this issue. And yes, it does say that they doctor should monitor organ system function in ...

No you can buy Mycitracin over the counter and I have used if and bought it over the counter for 30 years up til now I can't seem to locate stores that sell it. It is the best ointment for rash, impetigo and ringworm and also neutralizes some suborn itchy spider bites. It is the best ointment by far and now it is nowhere to be found or bought. Meanwhile you find all the second hand topics that don't work and you end up spending a fortune. Mycitracin is OUT THERE SOMEWHERE!!! ## The reason that you can't find it anymore is that it actually works and that doesn't put money in the pharmaceutical companies so why sell something that works. Give them something that almost works and then they can go to the doctor for something that has to be issued with a subscription and we c...

My child was diagnosed with an ear infection and also coxsackievirus. I disagree with the ped dr. on this. He has had no blisters on either his hands or feet and no fever, both which are the classic symptoms. He does however have a rash on his face. He had a small area below his lip that has been there since May which was attibuted to always being wet from teething. But that area has since turned into a bigger rash and crusty and has spread some to his nose and chin. he also has blister bumps similar to ant bites on his legs and groin area and rectum. These have since popped and scabbed over. My guess is Impetigo. My question is, the ped dr put him on Septra Im guessing for the ear infection. Will this help if it is Impetigo and not coxsackievirus, or do I need to get a second opinion, ...
