My wife has been taking Imodium (6) but has exhausted her supply. Is it safe for her to continue her attempt to stop the direah with the Diphen Atrop 2.5mg? ## Has she consulted a doctor? Anytime that diarrhea is continuous like this, someone should seek medical attention, because it could be the sign of serious health problems. It also creates the very serious risk of dehydration. The problem with this medication is that its only meant to treat acute diarrhea, which would be that of a limited duration. If it's chronic, which means ongoing, then she needs to see a doctor for assistance and a proper diagnosis as to what's causing it.

I had my colon removed and now have a J-pouch. My stool is almost always runny and I take bulk laxative along with bentyl and imodium. During the day there is no problem but nights I set my alarm clock every 2 hours so I don' mess myself or the bed. Would the Tenture of opium help at night and is it addictive? I am a diabetic on an insulin pump. ## What has your doctor advised? Opium tinctures can be addictive and cause serious side effects, so they should never be used without your doctor's approval. ## I was in the same situation as you, and have a J-pouch as well. I took Tincture of Opium for about 7 years. It does help at night time, slightly. There will still be issues, but it's main benefit I experienced was the fact that I would actually sleep, rather than constantly ...

Is this Vicodin because I am not seeing this anywhere on the internet ## No, this is actually an Imodium Advanced tablet, it contains 2mgs of Loperamide and 125mgs of Simethicone, it's used to help treat diarrhea and the gas/bloating that can sometimes be associated with it. (NDC 50580-338) So, it isn't a narcotic or prescription medication of any type, this is available over the counter. However, it should still be used according to the directions, because there are always possible risks and side effects with any medication, even over the counter products. ## Someone switched my percocet for IMO 2 125. Would like to know what it is.

Is the azithromicina 500 effective for severe diarrhea? What is the dosage? I have had severe diarrhea for 3 days. Pepto bosom and Imodium slow it down but it comes back . ## Hello, Jack! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. The FDA classifies this medication as an antibiotic, so it is only effective at treating or preventing bacterial infections, which also means that it can actually cause diarrhea as a side effect, along with nausea, dizziness, and headache. Thus, it might be best to have this checked out by your doctor, because if this is due to something viral, then an antibiotic will not help and could just end up making the diarrhea worse.
