I refilled my amlodipine today. The pill I have been taking is blue with an M and A9 on back The new one is white (as above Ig on front and 238 on back). What is the difference and could i alternate if i ran out of one or the other. ## Losartan is an ARB and Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker, so they are different types of medications, which are used to treat the same types of conditions. Different treatments work better for different people and sometimes, a combination may be required. However no, alternating like that isn't advisable, for several reasons. One would be due to the fact that they each take several weeks to reach their full effect in the body, so if you were switching off an on every few weeks, neither medication would actually have the chance to fully do its job.
