Ibuprofen Side Effects

My partner has been taking two 200mg Ibuprofen every morning for about 3 years. He has become quite lethargic, lost his appetite and is sleeping 12 hours per night. Is it the tablets? ## It is really hard to say, those aren't typical side effects for that dosage. The NIH lists them as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach irritation. Is he on any other medications that you know of? Should he still feel this way? He will not be taking any more for pain but we are wondering when the pain and nausea should subside. Thanks for any help. ## Is he also on an antibiotic? I injured my knee about 8 months ago and I am still in pain. I have tried pain killers such as ibuprofen and I still haven't gotten a relief the pain is a come and go but the pain is unbearable to a point where I am unable to walk. What type of pain relievers would I be able to take for the side effect(headaches) when taking Lisinop Hctz for my hypertnsion? ## You may want to check with your doctor, to be on the safe side, before taking anything, but I know when I was taking those and even continuing now, with my other blood pressure medications, my doctor has instructed me to only use Acetaminophen/Tylenol. I also checked the interactions database and there is nothing listed that it can cause a problem, when used with the Lisinopril-HCTZ. In most cases, when you have hypertension, they want you to stay away from the NSAIDs, such as Ibuprofen and Naproxen, because they can actually cause fluid retention, which can lead to other medical issues, such as Congestive Heart Failure. My boyfriend is convinced that he is having a reaction to Etodolac. He states that after taking one pill he became achy, flu like. Every joint seems to hurt and he is even complaining that his skin hurts. He is also taking 800 mg of Skelaxin and Nexnium. Prior to the Etodolac he was taking 800 mgs of Ibuprofen 4 x daily. My opinion is stay the hell away from this drug. I took it for less than a week for severe back pain. I experienced the following, all of which indicate a deadly allergic reaction and are supposed to be rare: -extreme swelling of the tongue to the point where my teeth were cutting into it; -trouble sleeping/night terrors; -constant itching at night that was affecting my sleep; -frequent feeling of having to urinate. The drug did barely anything for my pain and I had to up my dose within two days. That was when the side effects started. Again, not worth it. Please stay away. Pharmacists and doctors will insist that the drug is safe but it isn't. I've also personally talked to three people who have had seizures as a result of this drug.
