Hi I was taking Nuzak for a long time possibly 8 years on and off, PRN but I recently weaned myself off completely very slowly over a few months. I am suffering from severe IBS and picked up weight with cravings , can stopping the Nuzak a couple of months back have these side affects . ## Hello, Mandy! How are you? Yes, the weight and cravings can sometimes occur when you withdraw from such a medication, as reported by the FDA. It may or may not have caused the IBS, it's hard to say on that, because it has been known to cause various gastrointestinal issues, but typically, they would crop up, while you were taking it and not after. Are you taking any other medications?

Uses in treating irritable bowel syndrome ## "Experimental studies have shown that otilonium bromide (OB) inhibits both baseline and chemically or physically stimulated gastrointestinal motility. The spasmolytic activity of OB in the gastrointestinal tract occurs at doses that do not affect gastric secretion or produce typical atropine-like side-effects. The mechanism of action is composite: interference with calcium ion movement from intra- and extracellular sites; blockade of calcium channels; and binding to muscarinic receptors and tachykinin neurokinin-2 receptors. Pharmacokinetic studies have shown that OB accumulates in the lower intestine and has poor systemic absorption. Clinical studies have confirmed OB as a potent spasmolytic drug with a good tolerability profile. Studies...

I was suffering from IBS and was taking some medicine like Normaxin/Sac-250/Econorm and started feeling well. Now I'm not taking any medication, but still I am not completely fine. Not suffering from IBS but after a few days my stomach starts suffering from indigestion, burning sensation, slight pain. After a few hours it starts feeling better on its own, but again the same thing repeats after sometimes a day or two and sometimes even after a week. Can anyone suggest anything? ## Hello, Maddy! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. What type of foods do you eat and what do you drink? A woman I care for has ibs and glaucoma. The doctor put her on cosopt of drops recently and she feels it is affecting her ibs. Before taking cosopt she had her ibs under control. Is this possibles? ## Hello, Tricia! How are you? Yes, that is possible. When something is used in the eye, as opposed to being used topically on the skin, more of it is absorbed and it can cause problematic side effects. This medication is approved by the FDA to treat intraocular pressure associated with glaucoma and its typical side effects may possibly include burning, stinging, redness, blurred vision and bitter taste in mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am 67 and have been taking Xeljanz for about 2 years. I have RA and ulcerative colitis. My UC has been in remission for about 7 years. I have been having what my GI doctor thinks is IBS. I have been nearly debilitated by lower abdominal pain. Taking dicyclomine 4 times a day helps somewhat. Has anyone else developed IBS after starting or after taking Xeljanz for a period of time? I saw there currently is a study showing an increased incidence of IBS in people, especially women over the age of 60, who are taking Xeljanz.

I poot and poop a lot every day. Some days are worse. I always go 20 to 30 times a day. But some days are worse not only do I sometimes go up to 55 times a day I sometimes get explosive BMs all day. I can never go just once I have severe attacks making me go literally every one minute. It's kind of like I pull my pants up walk out the bathroom door then right back I go. What makes it worse is I always have to poot then immediately have to poop. Every poot makes me poop. But my poots are weird. I have a long loud regular sounding poot that turns into a wet churning sound. I always have noisy poop but some days it's like so loud it can be heard outside. Today I've had all explosive BMS. And my attacks consist of constant poots following poop 8 to 12 times in a row. Usually it'

I took keflex for a week after bunion surgery. I lost 40 percent of my hair. It was an all over thinning. It receded in my temples. While it was falling out, it felt like someone took a blow torch to my head. I was then pressured into to trying mobic. The hair loss hadn't started yet. Takes a couple months. Anyway, as soon as I took it, I was a mess. I now have IBS D and C. It's horrible. I had no idea this could happen. My life is ruined! Perscription doesn't warn you, doctor doesn't either. I won't go into the side effects. There's way to many! I'm getting a lawyer! If you look up the side effects online, it doesn't warn you there either. Unless you specifically type in hair loss, or IBS from keflex or mobic. Can't cure it either. You can treat with...

I have had IBS-C for over 35 YEARS having only one bowel movement every 6-7 days. Good thing I had my own bathroom in my office. When you do not have regular bms you forget the last time you went. I have to keep a calendar. My dr gave me a prescription for 72 mcg. It took a week to work and it totally emptied me out for hours. At the end it was just brown water coming out. Since then I have been going 4-5 days before having a complete emptying out with severe explosive diarrhea. I wondered if maybe I can empty the capsule out and only take part of the med a day? Yes it is good to go but when you have to put diaper rash cream on you because it is so explosive I kind of wonder. I guess it is better than not going. Also has anyone before Linzess had bad stomach aches because you did not go...

When I was in my early 30's and was diagnosed with IBS, I was prescribed paragoric for my severe colon spasms. It worked!! I am 65 now and still experience severe episodes of IBS. Only now, nothing works. Gallbladder is out. Have tried everything on the market. Need paragoric back! Is there ANYWHERE I can get it? ## Hello, Karen! How are you? I am very sorry, but no, it is no longer being manufactured. Your only option is to talk to your doctor about writing a special prescription for it that can then be made for you by a compounding pharmacy. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for your answer. I'm pretty sure my primary care physician won't prescribe this. However, I have several friends who are doctors, and they may be willing to do it.
