I have been on Sprintec for years now and I take it regularly around 4am before I go to sleep, works best with my schedule. My boyfriend finished in me by accident and I was advised to not take Plan B and just continue taking my BC as scheduled. I am very worried I could be pregnant. But you don’t ovulate on birth control correct? Because when he finished in me it was my “ovulating day” according to my period tracker app, but since you don’t actually ovulate I tend to overlook that. any experience with anyone else? always let your significant other finish in you and don’t worry? and also about ovulating on the pill, thank you ## Yes, the intent of the pill is to prevent ovulation, that it why it is so effective at preventing pregnancy. You can find many FDA...

Hi. I'm using oralcon for 4 months now and sometimes I forget to take the active ones, so I end up changing times or skipping doses. Is it possible for me to get pregnant? ## Hello, Bunny! How are you? Yes, if you completely skip some tablets, then it is possible for you to get pregnant. They need to be taken every day to protect you from pregnancy, because they work by preventing ovulation. Changing the time isn't a big deal, you can usually take one within a few hours of when you should and still be fine, but missing them leaves you unprotected. Is there some way you could leave a reminder for yourself to take one each day, at the same time? ## I took an emergency contraceptive 3 days after my period. I want to take advantage of my ovulation to get pregnant after a recent chan...

Hi, I am 39, three kids 3-19. I have had my implanon for 3 years its set to be removed on 1/13/17. My question is, is it possible to get pregnant when its set to expire. I have taken pregnancy test and they were all negative, but I feel like I am pregnant, flutters, going to the rest room every 5 minutes increase in appetite. With the implant I was on my cycle twice a month, in December my cycle only lasted for like 3 days and that was it. Normally it would last for more than 7 days. My stomach feels heavy and its getting bigger. Is this a sign if pregnancy or just the implant wearing off. ## In such cases, it is hard to say what may be causing such symptoms, you might be pregnant, since abstinence is the only foolproof method of preventing pregnancy. However, they could also be due to ...

I've been taking Sprintec for about a year now and everything has been fine but this month I got my period during the third week while still on the blue pills. I continued taking my pack so I'm on day 3 of the white pills but I'm now worried since they're sugar pills that I'm at risk. Suggestions? ## Hello, Sara! How are you? No, you are not at risk. Hormonal based contraceptives work by preventing ovulation, so as long as you didn't miss any of the active tablets, you are still fine and have the same pregnancy risk as you do at any other time. Is there anything else I can help with? ## This exact situation is one I am dealing with. So I can have intercourse while taking the white pills and not get pregnant? Because I'm almost done with blue ones and I'm ...

Hi I'm nthabiseng and I have just started using oralcon...it was given to me by a nurse/sister at the clinic, she told me to take it same day given to me after I told her I took my periods two weeks back and as I read the intruction it states you must take them on the first day of your periods.....my question is that (will it work preventing me from being pregnant or not).....I'm a bit CONFUSED because I did as intructed at the clinic!!! ## If you start taking them on the first or second day of your period, then you will be immediately protected from pregnancy. However, if you start them at any other time during your cycle, they must be taken for a full 7 days, without missing any tablets, in order for them to reach their efficacy level in your body and protect you from pregnancy...

I have never used any contraception pills in my life. And I want to use oralcon. When do I start using it? ## You can start it, at any time. If you start it the first or second day of your period, it will be effective immediately at preventing pregnancy, however, if you start it any time after that, you will need to take it for a full week in order for it to reach it's full level of efficacy. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, spotting, and PMS-like symptoms. What instructions has your doctor provided? ## I started taking oralcon about 12 days ago. I Initially started using it because of the terrible pains i get when i have my menstrual cycle. I was on my third day of having my period when i took it. Three days ago my boyfr...

i wanted to use sophia pills tonight but i cannot understand the intruction for i just have my last menstration last april 7.. ## Hello, Jezza! How are you? I'm happy to help with this. The FDA prescribing instructions state that if you are not on your period, when you start taking it, you will need to take it for a full 7 days, before it will become effective at preventing pregnancy. So, if you want to engage in intercourse during that first 7 days, you will have to use some other form of protection against pregnancy, such as condoms. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, spotting and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi good pm! just call me mommy rhovz! tanong ko lang po, daphne pills po yong gamit ko no...

Hi There, I have been on Oralcon now for almost a year now. A couple days ago I was taking the red pills and I noticed I missed the last one. I took it 24 hours later with the first white one of the new pack. My question is will I be affected by missing one of the red pills? Will this decrease its effectiveness against preventing pregnancy? ## Hi, Megs! How are you? The red pills at the end of the pack are just placebo tablets that contain no active hormones, they are just meant to allow you to have a withdrawal bleed that week, so there is no harm in missing them. The sole reason they are included is to keep women in the habit of taking a pill each day, so they don't forget when it's time to start the new pack. So no, missing one or more of those ones doesn't matter, you do...

I'm on the forth week of my bc pack. Already finished with the blue pills. I missed my first white pill but took it the next day with my other white pill at the same time. And today I start my brown placebo pills. I also had intercourse the day I took both white pills. Am I protected? Or should I take plan b? ## Hello, Mackenzie! How are you? Plan B is only effective in the first 5 days, after intercourse, so it wouldn't do any good to take it now. It's most effective in the first 24 hours, retains most efficacy for 72 hours, then its effectiveness at preventing pregnancy dwindles and after day 5, it does nothing. Did you start your period? The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthro...

The NIH warns that its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, irregular bleeding, and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Pa po gumamit ng Althea pills 1st time ko po kasi? ## I took althea pills for the 1st time last night at 6pm and that was my 4th day of period with only light discharges. I didn’t want to bleed this summer so skipped the 4 placebo pills and started the next month and didn’t bleed for 4 weeks. I just finished the 4 placebos and no blood. I’m worried it’s pushing off the blood. I’m starting the blue pill tonight. Can the body even bleed once the blue pill is in the system? Would appreciate someone’s experience. Thanks ## Hello Momo5, I hope you are having a good day. I'll start by explaining how this medication works. This combination hormone medication is used to prevent pregnancy. It contains 2 hormones: norethindrone (a progestin) and ethinyl estradiol (an estrogen). It works mainly by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) during your menstrual cycle. Because this medication changes the hormones in your bod...

How are you? For it to be effective immediately, it should have been started the first or second day that you say any bleeding. If you started it the third day or later, then you'll need to take it for a full 7 days, before it will become effective at preventing pregnancy. That means a backup form of contraception must be used for the first 7 days, you will be protected on the 8th day. Hi, I was on the depo shot and my doctor switched me to sprintec. It says to wait until the Sunday of my first period, however the after effects of depo shot has caused me to miss two periods. There is no chance of me being pregnant, took a test to confirm it. Can I just start taking the pills now? ## Hello, Bl! How are you? Unless your doctor has told you not to start them at any other time, you can start them now, but you should know that starting them at any other time in your cycle will not result in them being immediately effective at preventing pregnancy. Thus, you'll need to use a backup form of contraception for the first 7 days of being on it. First, you should have started the first day of your period, rather than afterwards. If you start it the first day, then you are immediately protected from pregnancy, since it will prevent ovulation. However, starting it later means that you have to take it for at east 7 days, without missing any pills, before it will be effective at preventing pregnancy. My doctor gave me a perscription for ciprofloxin for a uti. I am on gildess fe 1/20 birth control and i am afraid the cipro will make my birth control less effective. I have been seeing mixed reviews so i need help please! ## Hi, Mandy! How are you? Yes, there is a chance that it could alter the efficacy of your contraceptive. This antibiotic can sometimes cause your liver to not process/absorb as much of the estrogen in them, which makes them less effective at preventing pregnancy. Learn more Cipro details here. Thus, it is best to use a backup form of protection while you are taking it and for 7 days afterwards. Is there anything else I can help with?
