The thyroid gland or simply, the thyroid /θard/, in vertebrate anatomy, is one of the largest endocrine glands. The thyroid gland is found in the neck, below the thyroid cartilage (which forms the laryngeal prominence, or "Adam's apple"). The isthmus (the bridge between the two lobes of the thyroid) is located inferior to the cricoid cartilage. The thyroid gland controls how quickly the body uses energy, makes proteins, and controls how sensitive the body is to other hormones. It partici...

I have had low thyroid hormone levels for a long time and may have some hopeful advice to others out there. Read about your disease on the internet and understand how you acquired low thyroid hormones. Find the list of symptoms one expects to see over time if unmedicated and the dangers of undiagnosed hypothyroidism. I have chronic migraines and the first time I took the medication for hypothyroidism i suffered an on-going migraine. So, I remained unmedicated until I was sure I couldn't stand it any more - the side effects I mean. I developed many of the symptoms that come with hypothyroidism and they are very difficult. I have acne, arthritis, thinning hair, chronic sleeping, weak and tired, dry eyes, slow metabolism and obesity, depression or for me lack of desire and motivation, ...

I just received my labs, I'm 5'7" 150lbs, black male. My TSH 17.17 and my T4 1.08, I am currently on 100mcg, and my doctor increased me to 125mcg of levothyroxine. Does this seem normal, I was on 200mcg my entire high school and middle school life. Now I'm 23 and this new doctor doesn't seem to think I'll need that much, but I'm trying to join the navy and you can't unless your hypo and it's controlled on meds. ## Also, I've been hypo since I was 10yrs old. Got hashimotos and it did work on my thyroid, currently zero thyroid function and has been like this for over a decade now. ## Hello, Nappyclouds! How are you doing? If you really fear that this doctor may not be properly handling your condition, then the best thing to do would be to see a diff...

I am a 26 year old married woman and my weight is 77kg. The TSH levels in my blood is 100 MCIU/ML. The doctor has prescribed Thyronorm (100mcg; after breakfast) and Deavit-Forte capsules (after dinner). I have been taking the above said medicines since 3 weeks now. Of late, I have started feeling very hungry even after having my meals. Please let me if this is normal or a side effect. What are the other side effects of Thyronorm? Please suggest a good diet plan too. ## Daisy start with yoga and walking too. I have started with homeo. Many of my relatives had thyroid and took homeo. Now they have totally stopped taking any medicines. But they do check their thyroid monthly.

m having hypothyroid, i gained weight n feeling joint pain n week........ please suggest me tablets n diet& excercise ## Have you seen a doctor and had any test done to confirm this? What treatment have they suggested? this site does not provide any medications and treatments, this is an information only website and, such medications usually require a doctor's prescription and supervision, because your Thyroid hormones must be monitored regularly and your dosage adjusted accordingly, if necessary. The medication most commonly used is Levothyroxine: It can also cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, weight changes and hair loss.

I got my nexplanon implanted a year and a half ago soon after I received news that my thyroid was swollen and been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. There is not history of this in my family and have never had any problems like this, I'm still pretty young being 26. I've had 3 kids and my weight has always be stable until now. Hypothyroidism is ruining my life and I believe it might have something to do with the nexplanon because this all started when I got it implanted. Thoughts?? ## Hello, Holly! How are you? No, that's not a normal side effect of Nexplanon, as listed by the FDA. Typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, PMS-like symptoms and irregular bleeding. Had you ever had symptoms of a thyroid issue in the past? Are you on any...

I have hypothyroidism, is clearly that i have weight loss problems, my doctor prescribe to me levothyroxine88 mg but instead of loosing i keep gaining weight. My question is anyone knows if i can take fruta planta without any problems while im in this medication? ## Is your doctor checking your thyroid hormone levels regularly? If they are still fluctuating then that may be why you keep gaining, rather than losing. It is a pretty common occurrence for people with thyroid problems. Learn more Levothyroxine details here. And as to the Fruta Planta, it's really best to stay away from it, because in FDA testing, it was found to be adulterated. It contained an undeclared drug ingredient, which is why they made them stop selling at U.S. retail locations. What types of foods do you eat and...

What dosage of Levothyroxine is a green oblong pill with 9 and 3 on one side, and 7 3 6 5 on the other side? ## This is not a Levothyroxine tablet, if that is what you were supposed to receive, you've been given the wrong medication. The tablet with the 93 7365 marking contains 50mgs of Losartan, which is an ARB that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. You can learn more Losartan details here. Did you get these at a local pharmacy?

Hello fellow Hypothyroidism sufferers, really good posts here. I wish I could read replies. Been on Tirosint for 15 days and a lot of things are better. Joint swelling and pain down, facial swelling down, but hair, nails, and irritability are the same. However, that feeling of being poisoned has really faded. Generic and name brand Synthroid were awful. So fingers crossed for next thyroid test. ## Hello, DeDe! How are you? If you click on any post, and scroll down you will be able to read the relevant replies, if there are any. It can take awhile for everything to turn around, once you find a medication that works for you, if you've already had such improvements after just 15 fays on the Tirosint, then you are doing very well. Its typical side effects may include nausea, weight chan...

I went to the doctor after he ran some blood work on me, he told me that my thyroid is sluggish and prescribed me 50mcg of levothyroxine. Does this mean that I have Hypothyroidism? My mother has it and she told me that I am at risk for having it as well.I have a lot of the symptoms and that was why I went to the doctor in the first place but he doesn't explain things at all and I have been looking for a new doctor but have had no luck. Please help! Thank you in advance. ## Yes, that would be hypothyroidism, or on the verge of developing it. But it never hurts to double check by asking your doctor to be specific, or consulting another for a second opinion. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Levothyroxine as possibly including nausea, dizziness, hair loss, mood swings and weigh...

Hi, I've just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. My levels were t4(1) and tsh (100) dr said they were bad. I have felt like I have been living on another planet to everyone else in my own bubble, no energy can't be bothered with anything. I'm constantly freezing cold. The doctor has put me on levothyroxine (100mg) and I'm just wondering how long it's going to take to start working? So glad I have stumbled across this site because it's hard to explain to people how I feel and now I feel like it's not just me. ## Hi, I know what you mean. I developed symptoms quite a while before I was diagnosed. It felt totally stupid to be freezing cold in the middle of summer, and I felt like I was loosing my mind because my brain seemed to be filled with cotton wool and I ...

Is it Levothyroxine 50 mcg tablet an oblong white pill with a 50 on one side and a GG 332 on the other side? Thanks a lot for your time... ## Hi, CN! Yes, you have received the correct medication. It may be different from the tablet you previously received from your pharmacy due to the fact that there is currently a shortage of this medication. The reasons haven't been given, but the complete supply from one manufacturer isn't currently available. Several people have asked very similar questions. Some pharmacies have been unable to get in any generic supply, at all and have had to provide the name brand. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I suffer from hypothyroidism and have been on 50 MCG of levothyroxine and vitamin D3 5000 daily and I have had sore and tender throat and uncomfortable to touch. It feels like my throat is closing. I went to the doctor today and she said my tonsils were slightly swollen. I have never had problems with my tonsils. Has anyone had issues with their tonsils or throat while suffering from thyroid issues or on medication? It seems to be a new or different symptom every day! ## Hello, Angela! How are you? No, this medication hasn't been known to cause tonsil issues. Did your doctor prescribe anything to treat it, such as an antibiotic? It may be beneficial for you to see an ENT. ## I have always read that true diagnostics for hypothyroidism, that one has to do four evaluations: T3,T4, tsh,...

I hope someone can help! I am 53 years old and 5 feet tall and weigh 118 lbs. I never have had any symptoms . I went to my doctor 3 weeks ago and she tells me I have to go on medication for life! She did run blood work twice. I wish I knew my levels so could tell you but I don't. She started me on 50mcc a day of levothyroxin. The only symptom I am having right now is a little fuzzy memory. If I didn't have any symptoms do I really have to take meds for the rest of my life? I am a healthy eater and exercise on a regular basis and happy with my life. Can someone help. I don't take any meds besides supplements. ## Hi Becky, I’m not going to tell you to ignore your doctor’s advice, but I’m really glad my dad did when they told him he only had 6 months to live d...
