Using Hydromorphone 2 Mg. What should I look for and how to prevent terrible constipation with this medication. Thank you for your time. ## Hydromorphone is a narcotic, so along with the constipation, it may also cause dizziness, dry mouth and nausea. It really isn't good to mix other medications with it, without checking with your doctor. When I was on narcotic pain management, what I found that worked best to prevent the constipation and is completely natural were fiber supplements. Most people don't get enough in their diet, anyway and fiber is not known to cause reactions with many other medications. Are there any other questions? ## Take magnesium suppliments, when i broke my arm they gave my hydromorphone and i took magnesium to build bone density and stop constipation. ##...

I take hydromorphone 4mg as needed but i wanted to know if it was safe taking two tablets? ## Hydromorphone, the active ingredient in Dilaudid is a very potent narcotic analgesic. That said, it is not advisable to increase your dosage without your doctor's approval. Doing so runs the risk of overdose and other serious side effects, such as organ damage. If your current dosage does not control your pain, you should speak to your doctor to explore your other options. My mom has been battling stage 3 Salivary glad cancer for 5 years. She is terminal. Lately there has been 2 seisures due to low potassium. She is on pain management of 53 mg/ml/hr of hydromorphone iv . Is this too much? ## Hello, Dwaycott! How is your mom doing? When it comes to pain relief, it is best to leave the dosing up to her doctors. I understand your concern, but there are many medical studies that have shown that higher doses of narcotics to make the people more comfortable in such situations don't hasten death. I am so very sorry that she is terminal, my dad is as well, so don't think I am taking this lightly…. but there is a point where their comfort has to become most important. Cancer pain is intractable when it hits the terminal stage, you can't even begi...

I can't get my RX for hydromorphone filled anywhere so had it compounded. A tech was showing the pharmacist how to compound it while I waited, so I opened one up to check it when I got home and it had black specks looking like pepper mixed into the white powder. Any explanations? I will not take the caps till I find out what is in them. ## Hello, Nicky! How are you? Most likely, it's just a filler or something they used in the compounding process, but the only person who can give you a definitive answer is the pharmacist that compounded it for you. Don't worry about going in and asking, they are used to getting questions like yours and shouldn't hesitate to help you. I understand that the DEA wants to cut down on the illegals, but what about the people that have legitimate reasons for using Oxycodone. These people will have to go through withdrawl, and be in unbearable pain. I know that there is something that can be done for us that have serious lower back pain, and other issues. If this is the case have the DEA, pull the persons medical records and check their history. I moved from OHIO, to Florida due to my injuries, now I have to deal with this. I have been taking Ultram 50 mg 2 tabs 4 times/day + Lyrica 150 mg twice/day for years for not only almost every vertebrae in my neck & back being herniated with impinged nerves, spinal stenosis, degenerative spine disease & scoliosis, but also severe fibromyalgia & osteoarthritis (mostly in the knees & ankles. I had a spinal cord implant last year, but even though it does help, it just doesn't do the entire trick for me. My doctor tried switching the Lyrica for Cymbalta, but I developed Serotonin Syndrome & didn't sleep the entire week I was on it. Due to lack of sleep, I developed a gigantic migraine headache & took Fiorecet & Benadryl, thinking it was due to sinus problems. Which is stronger 2mg of Hydromorphone Or 500mg of tylenol? ## Hello, Karen! How are you? The Hydromorphone is a potent narcotic that is only available via prescription, so it is the stronger of the two. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does it matter if the pill with the M on one side and the 4 on the other are either hydromorphone or dilaudid for what kind of strength or the effects you get from it? Also is there such a thing as timed release either one of those? ## Hello, James! How are you? Hydromorphone is the active ingredient in Dilaudid, so that is what the generics are called. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
