i have a headache that seems to not respond to any pain medicine, but when i take hydrocodone alone, i get a little relief, is taking one spoon of hydrocodone every 4hours too much? ## What is the dosage of the syrup and what has your doctor advised? It is usually taken every 4 to 6 hours, as needed, but it really depends on the dosage, your tolerance and whether or not it also contains Acetaminophen, since too much of it in any 24 hour period can be toxic.

There is no expiration date on this cough medicine. It is hydrocodone-chlorpheniram that was filled on 9/2/14. Is this still safe to take? ## Hi Jackie, According to studies represented by Harvard University and the LA Times Newspaper, hydrocodone can reportedly last anywhere from 10-40 years past the expiration date, depending on the conditions in which it is stored. Chlorpheniramine on the other hand is something I'm not so sure of (when it comes to long term studies); however, GlaxoSmithKline a UK-based drug manufacturer denotes a shelf life of 3 years for their Chlorpheniramine tablets. I understand that your product is liquid rather than a tablet, but if it were me in this position I'd probably feel some sense of security if it were stored in a cool, dry and dark environmen...

How much hydrocodone is in a does of 5 ml hydrocodone bitarate cough syrup? Is it the same as taking a 7.5 norco tablet? ## Hello, Granny! How are you? It can vary, depending on the prescription. What dosage is listed on the label? Usually, it will have something such as 7.5/5ml or something similar that lets you know how much is in each teaspoon. Can you please post back with this information, so I can help you? Thanks! The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Oh my, I didn't realize it was that strong! So it says each 5 ml equals 10 mg of hydrocodone bitarate. So is that the same as a hydrocodone-acetaminophen 10-325 ?? #...

Hi, I was having inconsistent relief with the tabs and my doc switched me to the syrup. The syrup works, but not very long and I've now developed heartburn. Anyone else have that issue? I'd love to hear some stories about heartburn relief ideas or new pain meds that have been developed recently to combat the pain with minor side effects.I'm not afraid of a little pain if it leads to a lot of gain. Thanks munch. ## There are many other options available for pain relief, such as Percocet, Opana, Dilaudid, Roxicodone, so those are all options you could ask your doctor about trying. The FDA classifies them all as narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. I have a tropical flavored hydrocodone-apap liquid but it doesn't say the strength?!! How much wud I need to take to equal 1 yellow 10/325 norco? It says take 1 teaspoon every 4-6 hrs for cough. Or am I way off and the whole bottle won't equal 1? Lol ## The bottle should have the amount of medication in 5 cc's on the bottle. Are there any numbers on the bottle after the name of the medication ? ## If it's hydrocodone/acetaminophen sol, it's 7.5/325 per 15 ml meaning 7.5 mgs hydrocodone, 325 Tylenol if it's the new sol, older formula has 500mg acetaminophen(Tylenol) so you would need 20ml to get 10mg. Be careful of Tylenol tho. New recommended dose is 3000mg per day. Now if its cough syrup, it's tussinex , is it super thick? That's 10mg hydrocodone per 5 m...

I GOT THIS MED FOR A CHECK INFECTION LAST YEAR. WHY CAN'T MY PHARMACIST FIND IT NOW AND HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO CHERATUSSION AC SYRUP? ## The Hydrocodone APAP shows that it also contains Acetaminophen with the narcotic, this type of syrup/suspension is usually given to treat cough, fever and pain. The only thing it would do for an infection is treat the pain and fever that it may cause, it wouldn't actually treat the infection itself. The Cheratussin AC contains Codeine and Guaifenesin, so it isn't the same, because this would be used mostly to treat cough and cold symptoms. Your pharmacist should be able to find the Hydrocodone/APAP, but do you actually have a prescription for it, or are you just asking them to find it? If you're just asking about it, they may not be giv...

How many teaspoons of hydrocodone acetaminophen syrup 7.5 325mg dose it take to equal one 7.5 325mg pill need to know how many pills don't understand the rest Thank u ## Hello, Jake! How are you? How is the dosing listed, there should be more to it, such as 7.5/325 per 5ml. And to give you an example, that would mean that each teaspoon (5ml) is equivalent to the dosage of one tablet. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

My wife is taking Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen SOL APAP at 2 tsps every 4 hours. Is Vicodin 5/500 the equivalent to this and can she take the Vicodin instead? She just had the Gastric Bypass almost a week ago. ## Vicodin does contain the same active ingredients (Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen), so it all depends on what dosage she is currently taking. Another thing to consider is that there may be a reason why she was prescribed this medication in a syrup form instead of a tablet, especially that she had surgery related to the digistive system. Ultimately it would be advisable to check with her doctor before making any switches like that, especially with such a potent medication. Wishing her a speedy recovery! Please reply with any other details or questions which you can think of... ## My ...

The smell of Homatropine is so bad my dog coughs from it. Why would it be included in a Hydrocodone syrup for my dog's collapsing heart condition and heart mural valve problem? ## There is a cough syrup, called “Hycodan” that is prescribed for bronchitis, pneumonia and the like for severe coughing.. it’s only two ingredients or hydrocodone and homatropine. One teaspoon is equivalent to one 5mg Vicodin, or more known now as Norco. The difference being is that there’s no acetaminophen in the liquid versus the pill.. I know allot about this because I have C.O.P.D. from childhood asthma.. There’s even a pill form of the “Hycodan Syrup” (Well there was a pill form 25 years ago so I’m assuming that it’s still on the market however I do...

Which is better,m end syrup or hydromet syrup? ## No one can really honestly tell you how this drug is going to effect you, as they are not you. Not even "you" know how it's going to effect you until you take it. Medications can and usually do affect everyone differently, whereas some people get great results but there are others that it inevitably just doesn't work for no matter how many they take. Unfortunately when it comes to prescription drugs the only to find out is to try it for yourself and decide after a few days to a week or so if this either drug is really right for you. I know it's a vague response, but I'd hate to say one works better than the other and you end up not liking it or having a bad reaction. Have you ever taken Hydrocodone (hydromet) in t...

I'm not needing to take Hydrocodone/chlorpheniramine cough syrup at the moment. Can I store the bottle in the refrigerator just in case I may need it? Thank you. ## Hello, Don! How are you? Only until the expiration date. Liquids tend to degrade faster than other forms, so you can't really extend its shelf life. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. cold and cough ## i am taking this liquid syrup for my chest and head cold and would like to know what the medicine that are in the syrup. thanks! ## From what I can find this contains the active ingredients Guaifenesin and Hydrocodone, so it is an expectorant and cough suppressant. The Hydrocodone is a narcotic, so it does have the potential to be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation.
