I am out of my hydrocodone... Can I take tramadol temporarily until I get my prescription? I'm used to taking 10-325s. These tramadol are 37.5-325. How do I take this? Please help! In chronic pain. ## Tramadol is a serotonin drug. My Hubby takes 1 tab every 6 hours. But they are 50 mg tabs. I would NOT go over the one every six hours. But if you taken another drug that has anything to do with serotonin receptors are involved. I wouldn't take. You would be in far more trouble with serotonin poision then your chronic pain. Call your pharmacy if you don't want to call your doctors office. Or just pick a random pharmacy. Better to call and ask them end up in the ER. Please be safe. Call first. I'm not a doctor or in the medical field. Just another person with chronic pain. #...

I have been taking hydrocodone 10/325 4 times daily for post surgery pain for 2 weeks. My dr recently switched me to 50 mg tramadol because he wasn't in the office to write me a script. Will the tramadol be just as effective? I just took 3 50 mg tramadol to start off with. ## Hello, Dustin! How are you? The data varies and states that it takes 50 to 100mgs of Tramadol to be equal to each 10mgs of Hydrocodone. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. How much did you doctor advise you to take?

I took a Tramadol 50mg, at 6am how long should I wait before taking my Hydrocodone 10/325mg ## It's always best to follow your doctor's dosing instructions, but usually you can just transition smoothly from one opiate to another, at the next scheduled dosing time. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been prescribed tramadol 50 mg and hydrocodone 5-325 for migraines. Tramadol is always my first go to and if that doesn't work then I try the hydro. However, the tramadol is expired and has been for a year (I am in college and dealt with moving etc so don't have a doctor at the moment to get a new prescription that is unexpired.) I am literally having one of the worst migraines of my life which its so bad that the pain woke me up even after taking an (expired) tramadol. I took the expired tramadol at 10pm and it is now 2 am. Would it be okay for me to now take a hydrocodone after 4 hours (usually I wait 6 but I believe the tramadol did not work because it's expired?) Normally I would just go to the ER when it is this bad however I am taking summer courses and have an ...

My husband has a dislocated hip waiting to get in to the Ortho Dr. His primary Dr. Prescribed tramadol 50 mg 1 to 2 every 6 to. 8 hrs. & hydrocodone 10/325 1 at 4 times a day. I made him a schedule of: 2 tramadol every 6 hrs. 1 hydro every 3 hrs and every hour & 1/2 1/2 a hydro. Most the time he goes to bed by 9 to 9:30. On average he's taking 4 to 5 hydro per day and 6 tramadol per day. I also set my clock for 2 am to give him 2 tramadol so that when he gets up at 5:30 he's not in a excruciating pain. Then he takes a hydro & starts his schedule. Is this too much? We've never taken anything but an anti inflammatory. ## @SB, According to umm.edu, there are drug interactions between Tramadol and Hydrocodone. However this may not be a concern depending on how often ...

I have been taking Hydrocodone 10-325 for 5 really shattered disc's, in which 5 of the top Neuro-surgens in PA stated that I would be a dead man, if they operate. I live in constant pain and the Hydrocodone helps a little. Now a VA Doctor prescribed Tramadol 50mg tabs. This Doctor is not my Primary care Doctor, just a fill-in. Correct me if I'M wrong, but this seems to me that this will in no way take away my pain, and furthermore, it seems like pain management. What are the answers, and What can I do???? ## If you get relief from Tramadol I would stay on that. If you have a condition with chronic pain all the time you would need more than Norco. You would need Oxycontin and since you would most likely be on it for life you don't want to take tylenol every day. Chances are y...

If i have taken a half of a tramadol this morning at 8, is it safe to take a half of a norco 5/325 tomorrow? I also take bystolic, lamictal and gabapentin at night. I quit taking my celexa 2 nights ago. ## Hello, Etta! How are you? No, you shouldn't take Norco with your Gabapentin, due to the fact that it can increase the toxicity of this opiate, which could result in overdose. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The typical side effects for Gabapentin may include nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have always taken those together, I only take a half of a ...

I took hydrocodone about 4 hours ago and I have some old tramadol. I have such a bad headache. Will it be OK to take this tramadol? ## You can do so, as long as your doctor approves, but you should be aware that these opioids can cause headaches as a side effect, according to the FDA and the NIH. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I've read a lot about seizure risks and such when mixing the two, but no one ever talks about doses in those posts and I'm looking to stay safe. Would (1) 5mg hydrocodone and (1) 200mg tramadol be safe and okay? I have no tolerance to opiates. I currently have a cough so bad it's giving me intense migraines every day and I'm kinda in the boat as finals m...

I have Ankylosing Spondylitis. Got Cortisone shots in my lumbar region and Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen 5-500 tb and Tramadol ER 200 mg from my rheumatologist. What is the Tramadol for? I'm starting a new job tomorrow and am not sure if I should take it until I know how they may effect me. Should I wait until this weekend to start? ## Hi Wendy, Tramadol is most commonly used for treating moderate to moderately severe pain, but has a wide range of other applications, including treatment for restless leg syndrome, acid reflux, and fibermyosis. If you're starting a new job of any kind, I would probably suggest waiting till you get off work to experiment with how these medications really affect you deep down. This way you can at least be more comfortable going into work knowing whether...

I ran out of my meds which is hydrocodone 10 325 I'm wondering what the equal to how many tramadol 50 milligramS ## Hello, Twisttle! How are you? I'm sorry, but you can't even convert between the two, they are nowhere even close to being the same in efficacy. The best suggestion I can make is to call your doctor and see what they suggest you do. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## 150 mg tramadol is way better than 1,2,3, or 4 hydros in duration and overall feeling ## What??? I get 60 50mg Tramadol a month. I get 180 7.5 hyrdrocodone a month. I would answer her "I don't know, maybe if you ha...

I took 14 tramadol yesterday, how long till I can take my hydrocone? ## Hello, Nick! How are you? Why did you take so many? That is not an amount that's normally prescribed and could cause a dangerous overdose. And no, it doesn't block the effect of any other medication. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Transfix CAN block effects of opiates! It has a higher affinity on the mu receptors in the brain

Can I take one hydrocodone acetaminophen 10 325 and one tramadol 50 mg together? One 10 325 does not help much. I do not want to take two 10 325. The pain in my hip and leg is severe. Thank you. ## Hello, Donny! How are you? I am very sorry that you're in pain. Have they both been prescribed for you? If so, you should follow the provided usage instructions. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Are you on any other medications? ## My Dr has me taking 10 -325 only twice a day. I also take 50 mg of tramadol 2 times a day. He has added no more than 8 Tylenol ea day. Have been taking pain meds for 8 years due to terrible back. Have had 4 back surgeries with 3 of them since 2014, the last one was August 2016 which was spinal fusion L4/5 with screws, plate, rod and pins! Also suffer from fibromyalgia which is bad this time of year. I have been taking percocets 10mg x 6 daily since last surgery. Last week switched from pain management to primary physician due to cost and drive an hour away. Am now been switched to hydrocodone 10mg 4 x a day and tramadol 50mg 2 x a day. What are the effects of 10mg hydrocodone and 50 mg tramadol taken together? ## You should not take them, together, unless your doctor has instructed you to do so. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. Some may be worsened by combining the two. Have they both been prescribed for you?

Hi, I have been taking 100mg tramadol and hydrocodone 10-325mg for 6years together for chronic pain. I recently tried to fill both my scripts and was told by the pharmacist that I can no longer fill both since tramadol has been classed as a controlled substance that I would have to pick one that I want to take. I am pretty upset. Is there a way around this, I am a nurse and have patients that get multiple narcotic perscriptions at the same time how are they able to do that. Many people are on different types of narcotics at the same time for chronic pain because they work differently I dont see how the government can do this to people. ## I am very sorry about the problem that you've run into. I am 70 years old and have taken the following 3 medications for the past 4 years, hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10-325 T(1 tablet 4 times daily), Tramadol 50MG tablet(1 tab 4 times daily), Fentanyl patch 75 mh (change patch every 3 days). Jan 2017 my insurance stop paying for the Tramadol and hydrocodone unless I went through a pain clinic, I did go to a pain clinic. The pain clinic refused to prescribe both Tramadol and hydrocodone indicating a new law that will not allow it. The new opioid regulation indicates this level is to be monitored and know and understand the symptoms they are prescribed for, but the pain clinic indicate this level is above the limit and I do not need it. I have been on norco 7.5 for two years now. I have severe arthritis in both knees. I take one right before I go to work. I stock shelves at night, at a supermarket. It helps me get through my shift. My doctor retired; and now I have a new doctor. He has me on 50 mg on Tramadol. It's not the same. I'm in more pain now, then I was before. The drug isn't working the same. I have not abused hydrocodone. What do I need to do to convince my new doctor, that Norco is working, and I'm not abusing the pain medication? Any new ideas? please help. ## Hi John, I always say honesty is the best approach and speak from the heart, but whether or not the doctor accepts your message as truth is something that's out of everyone else's control and therefore I don't think it'...

I am on 5-325 hydrocodone. I took my last of the script around 7:30 this evening. I have an old script of 100mg, extended release, tramadol and figured I would take one in the am., since my hydrocodone script can't be filled til the day after tomorrow. Am I safe to take one around 8:00 am., tomorrow morning? ## According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu - drug interaction tool), there is a high interaction potential between hydrocodone and tramadol. However they do go on to note that because the two drugs may be necessary in certain cases, your doctor may have to adjust the dosage and/or frequency of dosing in order to help mitigate any possible risk factors/side effects (such as: Loss of balance or dizziness, slurred speech, confusion, changes in mental awarene...

What is stronger and how do these 2 drugs compare.....10/325 hydrocodone vs. tramadol 50 mg ## You really can't compare them, since they aren't in the same drug classes. The Hydrocodone in the Vicodin/Lortab is a potent narcotic analgesic. But the Tramadol is just a centrally acting analgesic, though it is derived from an opiate, it is nowhere near as strong and effective as the opiate narcotic class. Both can be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You can learn more Vicodin details here and you can learn more Tramadol details here. Which one has been prescribed for you?

Which is better for pain? Tramadol, Hydrocodone apap 5 325, or Tylenol 3? I am on blood thinners ## Tramadol is stronger. I'd research about the blood thinners. Might help to know that Tramadol is relatively new on the market, researchers might not have all of the facts. Ten years ago, the word was that it was NOT addictive. Now we know that it is Still, it is a nice, less ominous, alternative to narcotics. ## Hello, Shelby! How are you? In order of strength and efficacy… Tylenol 3 is the mildest you've listed, then Tramadol, and the strongest is the Hydrocodone/APAP. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?...
