What is the effect of taking2 at night before I go to sleep ## Hello, Batman! How are you? You shouldn't raise your dosage, without your medical provider's approval. If you aren't opiate tolerant, that may be too high of a dosage for you. Have you informed them of the problem, yet? My daughter has been taking hydrocodone 5/325 every 4 hrs since Thurs afternoon. 24 hrs ago, her dr moved it to every 6 hrs, and she took her last one at 615pm last night (it's now 1250a). Can you switch to extra strength, OTC acetaminophen now (500mg tabs)? Or should we wait longer after her last hydrocodone dose? Please advise. Thank you! ## You can take up to 3000mg of acetaminophen in a 24hr period. Anymore than that should be under a doctor's care/advice. ## According to the FDA, their 'liver warning' goes by a maximum daily dosage of 4,000 mg within a 24-hour period. This is not to say that you shouldn't consult with your doctor first, but it should allow for substantial flexibility in your dosing. If you're currently taking 1300mgs a day (325mgs four times...

My Dr changed me from 10-325 to 5-325 because I broke the pill on half. The 10's were barely working. He said they did not appear in my metabolites. I called him out on this bc he must have lied. I never missed any dosages. I think he was wrong. ## Hello, Georgette! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. If you were only taking half of the prescribed dosage, then the amount might have been lower than it should have been and, in some cases, that's treated the same as it not being detected, at all. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. M375 on one side oblong split on the other ## Hello, Freda! How are you? Did you mean M 357? If so, this tablet was manufactured by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 5mgs of Hydrocodone and 500mgs of Acetaminophen, it is a dosage that is no longer available, since the maximum dose of Acetaminophen in them now has been lowered to no more than 325mgs. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I have been taking 5-500 acetaminophen for my rheumatoid for a few years now with no issues and good blood test results every 3 to 5 months. My new insurance company just changed it to 3-325. I've taken about 80 over the past few weeks and have developed thick red painful rashes on my thighs and waist at belt line. They are made by a different company as well. I made doctor appointmntment but its 4.5 weeks away. Any advice or thoughts. this is the only change in my diet or medicine I can think of. ## Hello, Danny! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you're having. Actually, your insurance company cannot change your medication and/or dosage. That can only be approved by your doctor, even if there is something that they don't cover, or something is unavailable, any chang...

What is Hydrocodone Acetaminophen 5 / 325 TB used for? I was on the 7.5-325 T before for a hip surgery I had (for the pain). What is the difference? ## Hello, Patty! How are you? The dosage is lower, this one contains 5mgs of Hydrocodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. If you're asking about the T and TB, there is no difference, they are both just abbreviations for tablet. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I been taking 10-325 now I ran out but I still have 7.5-325 left can I take then even tho I been on other ones is there a difference ## Hello, Blondie! How are you? From what you've listed, the only difference is the dosage, the 7.5mg is not as strong, but you should be able to take it, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. If u take 500 mg of hydrocodone. How many 1.5 's would you have to take to make it near 500 ## The most Acetaminophen that a tablet that is prescription can have in it now is 325 mg. Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen comes in 3 strengths, Hydrocodone 10/Acetaminophen 325, Hydrocodone 7.5/Acetaminophen 325 and Hydrocodone 5/Acetaminophen 325. ## @Rest, I've never heard of anyone taking 500mgs of Hydrocodone, except throughout the duration of an entire monthly or bi-weekly script (i.e. if you took two 7.5mg tablets [15mg] a day for 33 days, you'd be at 495 mgs)... but for the sake of answering the question at hand, if you were to simply divide 500mg by 1.5mg, it would come out to roughly 333 1.5mg doses - Something that would have to require a patient to divide their 5mg pills into 1/...

I was just switched from hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10/325 (which I would take 1 1/2) to the 7.5/325 and I've noticed that about an hour after taking it I get a really bad headache and stomach ache. This never happened when I would take the 10/325. I even tried taking one and a half so it's closer to 10 mgs and the headache is even worse. Does anyone know what is causing the headaches and stomach ache? ## Headaches can be a normal side effect of opiate medications, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth. You may be experience some withdrawal effects, since your dosage has been lowered and taking one and a half may throw things off even more. Have you consulted your doctor for a possible solution?

I take one tablet of hydrocodone/apap 5-352 mg, but when I go to bed and wake up in 4 hours I can't get back to sleep. Can I take an advil pm to help me to get back to sleep? ## Hi Norma, According the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), there is a high interaction potential reported between hydrocodone and the diphenhydramine in zzzquil / advil PM, stating that combining them may increase your risk of certain side effects such as: "loss of balance or dizziness, slurred speech, feeling confused, experiencing changes in mental awareness, or slow / shallow breathing." They go on to note that if adjunctive treatment is required, your doctor may adjust the dosage and/or frequency of dosing in order to mitigate any possible risk of side effect...

5/300 is 1/3 the price of 5/325 of hydrocodone acetaminophen at the pharmacy. Does the pain relief compare and is it worth the difference in price? We are talking $13 versus $38 for 25 mg difference. ## It's possible they have already raised the price with hydrocodone combinations meds becoming a Schedule II meds Oct 6, 2014. Everything from manufacturing to dispensing had to have tighter security and the cost has to be passed on to the customer. ## Hello, Debra! How are you? It really depends on how well it works for you. If you don't take this all the time, then you'll likely get adequate relief from the 5/300, though I don't show a listing for that dosage being available, so it would be best to double check with your pharmacy. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has t...

I have been taking hydrocodone/ Acetaminophen 5-325 TB FOR YEARS FOR CHRONIC PAIN. When I just picked up my most recent prescription the pharmacy substituted Hydrocodone/ Acetaminophen 5-300 TB. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE TWO MEDICATIONS? Are there different side effects, and how might they manage my pain differently? ## From what you've listed, the only difference is the dosage of Acetaminophen that each contains, one contains 325mgs and the the other contains 300mgs of it. How is it working for you? What are the markings on the tablets? The FDA warns the Hydrocodone carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

How many can you take if the doctor recommended 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours as needed? Can you take more if pain is still extreme after 3 hours? ## Hi Grammy, There are a number of reasons why I wouldn't advise taking anything more than what is recommended by your doctor. However, if you feel that what you were prescribed just isn't strong enough, a higher dosage may be something to discuss at your next appointment. While I do know patients who have taken more than this without experiencing repercussions, it's important to understand that everyone responds differently based on their tolerance as well as other individual factors. And due to the high risk of liver damage, it also doesn't seem like a good idea to take more than 325mg of Acetaminophen in one sitting on a reg...

Male 210lbs - takes whatever whenever, but is taking over a dozen hydrocodone-apap 10mg/325mg pills in 24 hours. Is that bad? What's bound to happen?...What if he takes oxycodone 15mg also? ## Hello, From what I am seeing, daily consumption of hydrocodone should not exceed 40 milligrams in patients not tolerant to opiates. The PDR from 2006 states that Norco 10, containing 10 milligrams of hydrocodone and 325 mg of APAP (Acetaminophen) can be taken at a dosage of up to twelve tablets per day (120 mg of hydrocodone). This restriction is only limited by the fact that twelve tablets, each containing 325 mg of APAP (Acetaminophen), puts the patient right below the 24-hour FDA maximum of 4,000 mg of APAP. Some specially compounded products are routinely given to chronic pain patients in ...
