My mom just got her pain medicine and it says A 40 on it and I can't find an image anywhere so I can make sure they're ok to take. ## If your mom just got her prescription filled at a licensed pharmacy, she should have received it in a normal prescription bottle with a label attached. I find it very alarming that this information would be absent. I did locate a white capsule-shaped pill marked with "A 40" that reportedly contains a combination of Acetaminophen (325mg) + Hydrocodone bitartrate (10mg), made by KVK-Tech. However, it should be a pale yellow, elliptical/oval shaped with a score line on one side and the imprint of WATSON over 853 on the other side. It contains 325mgs of Acetaminophen and 10mgs of Hydrocodone, the active ingredients in Vicodin, which is a narcotic pain reliever. There is a yellow capsule of vicodin, and I saw no mg on it. All other Vicodin I have seen are white. Any answers? ## First off, I would like to let you know that there is no 1000mgs of Vicodin on the market. Vicodin is available in a maximum dosage of 10mgs of the Hydrocodone and 750mgs of the Acetaminophen. Second, the color means nothing, that is entirely up to the whit and whim of the manufacturer. Third, they do not have to have the dosage on the tablet, just a unique imprint to enable its identification, in case of emergency. Thus, it is the imprint that tells us what it is. Not long ago I was given by the pharmacy a Norco IP110. Where as I had pushed this bottle aside and forgot it, I was dumb. These are the same as M367 which is Norco, an opiate for pain relief. I as well was at my aunts and she had thrown about 50 of them away, as she thought they were generic tylenol from Walmart, though I had stopped her. My point is, when the pharmacy gives you NEW SHAPED pills and/or color etc., they often forget to post the bottle. I almost made a very big mistake. The way things are in the world, opiates are hard to get prescribed and I for one am allergic to everything but this. Norco is the brand name by Watson for 10mg Hydrocodone and 325mg of acetaminophen, they also make the generic. Norco is yellow in color and caplet shaped.Originally it was only 10mg, now it's 7.5 and 5, hydrocodone and the same Tylenol in all. Has no codiene in it.
