Most however, tend to be white and oblong shaped. My son takes 1/2 a tablet every 6 hours how much tylenol is he actually getting? ## If his tablets are 5/500's then a 1/2 tab is 250 of Tylenol and 2.5 of codeine. ## The active narcotic in this is Hydrocodone, so he'd be getting approximately 2.5mgs of it and approximately 250mgs of the Acetaminophen/Tylenol. And the reason I say approximately, is because when you cut, or break a pill, it is very hard to be precise, so the dosage could be a milligram, or two, one way or the other. My wife will be taking hydrocodone acetaminophen 5 500 tb for the first time to help her get through her physical therapy. How long before the therapy starts should she take the pill to get maximum relief during the session. ## It's really difficult to say, because it takes 15 to 20 minutes for the regular release tablets like this to start being digested and enter someone's blood stream and then, of course, you want it to be working, before she goes in for the session to minimize the pain. My mom just had a knee replacement and is taking Hydrocodone. She is taking them every 4 hrs. The holidays are here and she has no refills, plus the doctor's office is closed. How many Ibuprofen can she take to equal the same amount, or is this even possible? ## It isn't possible. I was prescribed this medicine and it says for severe pain, is 5 mg the Lowest amount you can get or is it higher than 7.25? ## It comes in hydrocodone 5mgs, 7.5 mgs and 10 mgs. There is 500 mgs of tylenol in it. The 5 mg is the lowest dose in pill form ## Hydrocodone, which is the generic for Vicoden, is what I was prescribed after Percocet didn't give me much relief.
