I was taking hydrocodon-acetaminophen 10-325's manufacturer mallinkrt which worked effectively. My doctor, against my wishes, switched me to hydrocodon-acetaminophen 5-325's. After 3 days, I experienced hypersensitivity, sleeplessness, extreme anger and became totally out of control. How do I approach my doctor, without offending him, since he is doing my knee replacement, to switch me back to the original script of 10-325's? ## The best thing you can do is to be honest with him and tell him of the problems you had. When a dosage is abruptly lowered like that, you experience both withdrawals and rebound effects and he should be aware of that. Learn more Vicodin details here. Did he give any reason why he was lowering the dosage?

i do not get relief from this pain medicine, what is the deal ## Hi baby, Unfortunately when it comes to choosing an appropriate pain medication, there's a lot of room for trial and error. If your body is accustomed to another manufacturer's versions of this, then its ineffectiveness may be attributed to the different binders/fillers that are being used in this particular tablet versus others. That's my theory anyways, given that nothing else is changed on the label when you switch between different manufacturer's brands/generics. The only thing I'd encourage patients to do in light of this, is to kindly ask the doctor to be more descriptive on the prescription he/she writes, in order to pick out a specific manufacturer that you feel works best from past personal exp...

Hydrocodone is Great for pain after a root canal! ## Hi Bob, Glad to hear that the Hydrocodone is really helping your pain. From what I hear, the combination of Hydrocodone + Acetaminophen seems to be a common choice for many post operative dental procedures. I believe 10mg is also highest you can get for this particular medication, so I'm guessing the pain is probably pretty severe without this high of a dose. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Vicodin Details Did your dentist let you know how long the pain is expected to last?

My doctor changed my medication from Lortab 7.5 500 to Norco 7.5 325, but now i'm super sleepy for about 2 hours now. Any answers ? ## It might be a slight withdrawal effect, due to the lower amount of Acetaminophen, because it potentiates the Hydrocodone. It usually takes about a week or so, for your body to adjust. However, if it continues past that, or worsens, you should consult your doctor. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. My wife will be taking hydrocodone acetaminophen 5 500 tb for the first time to help her get through her physical therapy. How long before the therapy starts should she take the pill to get maximum relief during the session. ## It's really difficult to say, because it takes 15 to 20 minutes for the regular release tablets like this to start being digested and enter someone's blood stream and then, of course, you want it to be working, before she goes in for the session to minimize the pain. I'd say she should take it at least half an hour before. Learn more Vicodin details here. However, I'm not a doctor, so I'd suggest she call hers and ask them, just to be certain.
