I have been prescribed hydrochlorot for hypertension along with atenolol. I've been taking it for several years. After having some issues with fatigue I reviewed the side effects and cautions. One of the cautions was that if you are allergic to penicillin not to take this medication. I have some auto immune markers that are not good but not severe enough to warrant a diagnosis for an auto immune disease. However, I've had flesh eating strep in my lower right leg tissue twice. My bottle says Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg and Mfg: West Ward, but the pills are peach color with 4 0 on one side and 1011 on the other side. Is this a correct fill? ## NO! You should return to the pharmacy and report this immediately. The tablet marked 1011 40 contains 40mgs of Citalopram, which is an antidepressant. I am traveling. I take one 5 mg of felodipine daily and one 25 mg of metoprlol daily. I accidentally forgot to bring me metoprolol. My husband in also one blood pressure meds... Could I take his 25 mg of hydrochlorothiaz in for a few days until I can get my prescription filled? My blood pressure has risen since I ran out of it. If I'm prescribed both pills, do I have to take them together? What if I only take the Losartan without the Hydrochlorothiazide? ## You should take them both, as prescribed. They are often used together to help lower high blood pressure and to treat some cardiac conditions. Taking just the Losartan may lower it some, but not as much as taking both. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Am allergic to Blue #2 which is found in Mylan's Triamterene HCTZ. I'm taking Hydrochlorothiazide for water retention due to a side effect from high estrogen levels in my birth control. I take 25 mg every morning, and haven't been able to sleep at all in the past three nights. I've looked it up online and haven't found anywhere saying that it causes loss of sleep. Is that a side effect of hydrochlorothiazide or is there just something else wrong with me? Because I haven't changed any other medications, or habits since then. My cat was on antibiotics & they were in a small prescription bottle similar to my medication. For 2 days I accidentally gave it to him mistakenly (1 dose per day). However, cats are very small and generally require lower doses of anything. Some substances that can be safely used in humans or dogs are completely toxic to them. And since this is a diuretic, it could make him severely dehydrated.
