out of atenolol, my dr will not return til next Wednesday, can I take Hydrochlorot 12.5 mg? ## They are not interchangeable medications, since the Atenolol is a beta blocker and the Hudrochlorothiazide is a diuretic. Started taking Hydrochlorothiazide awhile ago. Now I have a rash and have no idea why. Looking to see if this is the cause? ## How long have you been taking Hydrochlorothiazide? While a rash can be a side effect of many medications, normally, such side effects would appear withing the first month, or so, of taking a medication. If you've been on it longer than that, then the rash may not be related to the medication. If you are visiting and looking for a needed medication, your best bet is to just ask for via these generic names, Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide, then just specify that you're looking for a combination medication. Prescribed hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg for hypertension. Took for 1st 3 months with no problems outside of frequent urination which is to be expected. It has been working to lower my good pressure, so I was given another 3 month prescription. A week after I begin this batch, I started to suffer from all sorts of illnesses. First it was a stuffy nose, slightly sore throat (lasted approx. 3 days), & red itchy eyes. This lasted week, then stuffy nose turned to runny nose & it felt like something was running down back of throat. This lasted for about a 1-1/2 weeks, but midway through had shortness of breathe & felt like something was sitting on my chest at night. I used to take 12.5mg capsules but now I am given a real smal peach pill manufactured by Heritage (who I have never heard of) I do not feel safe taking taking this pill.
