My dog needs this med every day for a collapsing trachia and I can't find it anywhere? Can you help? ## walmart has it in generic form tuggisson ## I called the pharmacy at my local Walmart to ask if they had Tuggisson and they didn't know what I was talking about. Hi What dosage should a 22lb - 11 year old dog be on? ## Hi Joyce, From what I could gather, the following dosage is standard for suppressing a dog's cough: "Hydrocodone (Hycodan, Tussigon) 5mg tablet, oral solution. 0.25 - 0.5mg/kg po starting dose." The key factor in treating dogs with these medications is if you truly want to reduce or stop a cough you must be aggressive in both dose and frequency of administration. It often requires 4 to 6-hour administration to suppress a cough to a degree that you will notice clinical benefit. The only limiting factor to dose and frequency is sedation. A white pill with a A on the top of line and 140 on the bottom of the line ## I cannot post a picture due to copyright reasons, however, I can tell you that this pill contains 1.5mgs of Homotropine and 5mgs of Hydrocodone, a generic for Hycodan. The smell of Homatropine is so bad my dog coughs from it. Why would it be included in a Hydrocodone syrup for my dog's collapsing heart condition and heart mural valve problem? ## There is a cough syrup, called “Hycodan” that is prescribed for bronchitis, pneumonia and the like for severe coughing.. it’s only two ingredients or hydrocodone and homatropine. One teaspoon is equivalent to one 5mg Vicodin, or more known now as Norco. The difference being is that there’s no acetaminophen in the liquid versus the pill.. is there an equivalent in pill form (say vicodin) of hydrocodone and homatropine syrup 5-1.5/5 ## usally when dealing with syrup it basically comes 2.5 to 5mg per 5 ml(which is a teaspoon) tussionex is 10mg but you probably have the so 2 teaspoons would be like taking a 10, for some reason on some of these posts it doesn't show all of it on my monitor... ## Hello, Theo! You just have to find a Vet that can fill that specific prescription. I have gone through several Vets to find the Tussigon cough medication for our dog. I finally found a great Vet that can fill the prescription in their office every 30 days. That's the easiest way to go. ## How many pills and what was the cost?
